Extremely over-rated eatery. Food was average at best. Duck was overcooked and dry and while my partner's steak was good, one would expect it to be for $45 including fries (which were also very average incidentally). The service was extremely poor, with disinterested and surly staff. Avoid.
Took my partner there for his Birthday. The food was good but I wouldn't be rushing back. Extremely over priced for what you get. Waiters we attentive but didn't have the "wow" factor. For the prices they charge they probably need to smarten their game a little. A little noisy also and I felt the service was bit rushed.
As a party of seven they did not tell us when we were making the booking that they charged a 10% surcharge for partys over six people. Not impressed. Food was mediocre fish overcooked & tiny & tasteless for $33.50.
We were outraged to have a $33 surcharge (10%) as there were 7 of us. We should have been told about this when we booked. The attitude of the senior staff was most off-putting and it put a very sour taste in our mouths.
Went here for the first time on Monday night and had a terrible experience, one of my friends ordered the chargrilled baby octopus for main and to all of our disgust a slug came crawling out from under the meal and over the top of the octopus! When we informed the staff the waitress laughed it off telling us that the chef had said "it's cool, it's just from the watercress" as if this was something that was not unusual and something that we should expect from watercress! After this none of us could continue our meals.
At the end of the meal we were compensated by them subtracting the slug-meal from the bill which I don't believe was adequate compensation. I won't be returning here and won't be recommending anyone dine here.
Took my mum here for her birthday and had a fabulous experience. The food was delicious and the service was great. The menu is a good mix of aussie/asian/french bistro food and the four of us enjoyed every mouthful! Pork and apple croquets, smoked trout and fennel salad, crab cakes were the entree choices and there was nothing left! Crispy skin kingfish, polenta bake, stake and salmon were mains and again, there was nothing left! We loved every mouthful. I like the fact that its BYO too, as there a few great bottle shops up the road with plenty of great wines to choose.
The service is friendly, down to earth and very attentive. I had the pan fried calf liver which was cooked just right and presented well. The only fault is the tight squeeze and noise inside. Try to get one of the outside tables (up wind from the smokers) and enjoy your dinner on a balmy Summer evening.
Very cramped, extremely noisy, hot with the occasional smell of smoke from diners sitting outside. The dishes (both entrees and mains) are over-priced for both quality and quantity. "Not in a hurry to go back" if you know what I mean.
