Went here for a friends birthday and was severely disappointed with the food, the service as well as the promises made by the restaurant in terms of what our set menu included. Problems with what had been agreed upon put a real downer on the evening.
The food is nothing special and would not recommend it anyone wanting a nice group dinner with a set menu. It was overpriced and on top of this the staff were useless. There are plenty of other nice restaurants in Sydney, I recommend trying them before going to Macchiato.
Had breakfast, I the - big breakfast, her the Bruschetta? The big breakfast wasn't that "Big"? The Bruschetta, well sliced tomato doesn't constitute Bruschetta!
Coffee was average. Have previously had good meals here, not sure but looks like new management, perhaps, they should have learnt a thing or two from the old owners.
I had the Moroccan Pizza. Less than average. In fact, it was anything except the Moroccan Pizza (that I'd had anywhere else). Service was good and friendly. Food is too pricey.
I was with a group of four who arrived for breakfast about 9.30am and couldn't fault the staff for service and quality of food. The meals were great, the waiters friendly without being intrusive, and good value. I'm looking for an excuse to go back again!
I went to Macchiato in a large group on a Saturday night for dinner. It was pretty empty for a Saturday night and was not very noisy.
We tried the Bombay, Atlantic, Lamb, Sydney Supreme and Macchiato pizzas. They were okay, but not spectacular and at around $25-28 for a small-ish 10 inch pizza, a bit pricey. The Lamb pizza is a standout, with tender pieces of lamb and caramelised onion whereas our table was not a big fan of the Bombay pizza (tandoori chicken, onion, sweet chilli and yoghurt).
We also tried the seafood marinara which was overpriced ($28) and very mediocre. A side dish (Caesar Salad) was tasty but for $9, very disappointing. The portions are too small for the price. The service was excellent, with waitstaff attentive and friendly. I cannot fault the staff on their service but the food has a lot to improve on, and should not cost so much. I have tried better Italian food elsewhere for less.
I have been here a number of times over the last few years. It is a good spot for a moderately priced work lunch if you have a group of people.
The pizzas are yummy, woodfired and fresh, my favourite is the vegetarian with lots of fresh and sun dried veggies.
I have tried their pastas as well which were not bad. Normally we share pizzas and salads which works quite well. This place is not amazing, fairly ordinary menu, but the food is not bad. Service is also good but nothing special. It can get quite noisy at lunch times so you won't have a quiet lunch here.
I find it hard to find a decent casual place for a team lunch, if you are looking for a place like this, this is worth considering.
Today I had a lunch with my friends. The food was awesome. Then, we realized that the waitress forgot to give us a side of bread that suppose to come with the pasta, we told the senior staff, about this things, he checked with the waitress whether she brought the bread or not, n she simply said to the unfriendly senior staff, "maybe I forgot" that's it, both of them said nothing to us, what kind of service did you do? even say sorry was too hard for you, wasn't it.
A really really bad service, only the waiter who took our order has a good manner and good customer service. I'm sorry to say this kind of things, but, both of you *senior staff and waitress* are handsome but beautiful, but have no manners, minus attitude and bad customer service, what a shame.
Anyway, thank you for the food, chef, it was awesome, especially the penne bosciola, all d best for Macchiato.
Reading the other reviews, I feel disappointed that my experience at Macchiato didn't reflect what others have said. I have been to Macchiato a number of times over the past 2 years. I go for the woodfire pizza as they are very nice. However, I find the food overpriced and service far from friendly (paying the bill takes longer than the amount of time the food takes to arrive). I wouldn't recommend any of their other dishes, the pizza is the only standout.
Macchiato combines delicious food with excellent service to create a lovely atmosphere for any casual or specialty dining experience. All staff are friendly and efficient, and you never have to wait too long for a meal to arrive. With a wide variety of dishes to suit all occasions and tastes, Macchiato is a perfect dish - literally!
