Agreed with most of the last reviews here, food doesn't taste nice, and the staff aren't that nice. Food takes ages to arrive. Its pricey for what you get as the food is below standard. Will never come back again.
I must say I agree with the last too people. I won't be coming back here again. We waited forever to get service, wasn't packed. We 1st ordered drinks and that took 20 minutes to turn up. You think if a restaurant wanted to improve business then they would give us drink after drink after drink.
The food was not good, pizza average, we had spag bol and I think my little niece can cook better. My mate asked for a medium rare lamb sish and it came well done. We were so angry with the food and service we only ordered one drink each and left in a hurry. Normally we would order heaps of drinks and wine, but we just wanted to get out of the place. The worst thing is this place is overpriced, you would mine paying more if the food was good and service better.
I can only say, I will not ever go back to this restaurant anymore. They dont worthy of any $$! I should have listen to my feeling. I wanted to go for a pasta for dinner but its already 8 pm and thought somewhere near my home will work wonder. I always pass by Macchiato and sometimes for business meetings, I went there to have a quick tea/coffee which is nothing special.
Their pizza is alright, I had that long time ago. But last night was no excuse really. I went there alone for dinner. When I arrived I was asked for how many person and for one, I have to wait for 5-10 minutes. I waited. I was reading menu and the waitress were passing here and there. The one who asked me was telling me I should sit down at the bar and not wondering around when I was actually just standing near the counter. So I sat.
A few minutes later I was given a seat near the wall where I can't see much or not many people will notice me. Good spot for eating alone but when you need assistance its not good at all. I ordered marinara and a glass of dessert wine which cost $8 and a glass of water. Another waitress came back to me 10 minutes later and said my dessert wine is sold out. I asked for the wine menu again. There is only 3 dessert wines, $8/$6/$6.50. I waited for the menu to come and I ordered the one $6.50.
The pasta came with a cold tasteless bread and butter. The presentation is good, looks delicious. But once, I had my first bite, its nothing but a plain taste. The pasta sauce which they describe a pink sauce is nothing but watery tomato sauce and its not even blended deep into the pasta, its plainly coated the pasta only, no more than that. I was eating and kept regreting why on earth I didn't follow my feeling.
The sweet wine came and its so small like 2 cm only on the small glass. Thats fine to me. When I finally finished my meal and asked for my bill, it took them like 15 minutes to give it to me, only to be resent back as they are charging the wine $8 and it took another 15 minutes to get it right. Total bill is $33 and I gave them $43, so $10 return. I waited another 15 minutes only to find out my refund is $7. When I asked again, another waitress gave me a new bill asked me to pay up? I was like what?
Gosh, even the restaurant was busy but it was not packed at all. When I finally got my $10, my patient is already down to level 0, I was comforted by one of the lady who sat in front of me. I just walked out with no tip. Don't think they deserve it anyway. One of the waitress kept apologising. Do they really actually care? Please people, if you want to support good business good food, Macchiato simply not the one! Even after they change their management. Its just bad bad bad!
I have been to this place twice so far. Once with my partner for dinner and once with a team of about 18 from work. I organised the team outing and made the booking. The staff were great - no hassles what so ever despite having another booking for 65 half an hour after ours.
The food here isn't flash or fantastic. It is a little bit more expensive than what you could pay at a nubmer of places nearby. But they do have a good range from salads to pizzas to pastas etc. It is also a fairly nice casual place to eat. It is definately good for groups. Overall I have been quite pleased with this place.
YUM! I went here for coffee/hot choccy and after we saw everyone eat, we decided to get some oysters (weird combo I know!) but it was really nice! Everyone looked like they were enjoying their food so I made sure to come back with another friend! She had the lamb shanks which she said was beautiful! and absolutely melted in her mouth. I had the BBQ Seafood for 1 which was very scrumptious too! Couldn't finish it. Then we got 2 scoops of ice-cream: hazelnut and choccy! YUM! I can still recall the smell.
I succumbed to the crowd effect. ie. where you see a full restaurant and you think, it must be good. So waited in line for 20 minutes full of excitement before getting a table. Since it was full, it was very loud and hard to make conversation.
Food: Lamb shanks were cooked well but the sauce lacked depth and flavour. Pasta was overcooked and lacked kick (or to be cheesy - the x-factor). I was craving some cheesecake and the waiter recommended me the NY cheesecake over the other one. That brought the food rating up to a mediocre 5.
Overall, there's really no reason to go to this restaurant. Waiting in line to go into a noisy restaurant with average food doesn't sound fun to me. But really, they have all the elements to become a great restaurant. I just wish that they start being one.
This would have to be one of the most overpriced and ordinary cafes in this part of town. $22 for a very ordinary boring chicken "sandwich" ($18) and a few burnt fries with a diet coke ($4.00) is an absolute joke. Staff are dismissive and uninterested and not sure where the attitude comes from? I've been here a few times now in the hope of something better but each time it seems to get worse. Left feeling hungry and ripped off, definitely won't be going back.
The food was only ok here. However the service was really not appealing. First of all, the restaurant lost our booking due to some sort of miscommunication and did not even try to appologize. This can be forgiven as they did manage to "squeeze in" a table for our group as the restaurant was not full.
Secondly and what we find most amusing was that the waitress came to try to take our plates away from us for 4 times when we have not yet finished our food! We still had plenty of food left on the table, and whilst my friend was having a good conversation, the waitress took his plate & cutlery away without asking him. Then the waitress kept on hanging around our table and asking us whether we were finished every 5 minutes or so!
We really didn't see the point as there were still empty tables around us and it was not near their closing time either. Finally when we said to her we are finished with our mains, she said sarcastically: "Are you sure you're finished?" I dont think I would want to go back after such rude service.
All I'm going to say is that the seafood was off and we had to leave the restaurant without eating a thing. It ruined what was meant to be a great night out.
