One of Sydney's most sort after woodfired pizza places. Open for a medditeranean breakfast 7 days a week. Steak, seafood, pasta and gourmet burgers.

Seen this place while in the city many times and went in for just coffee until my work mate wanted to share some afternoon snacks. Ordered the Beef Carpaccio and it was melt in your mouth, a sprinkle of rocket lettuce and parmesan cheese. Pizza garlic bread was well cooked dough thin and crispy yum! Service was friendly and attentive.

Went to this place for dinner with a friend last night. Had an entertainment book offer thus we got 25% off but the quality of the food was average. Plus the service was a bit slow. Good for a casual dinner or quick bite but nothing special.

Went there for breakfast with 3 colleagues. We waited outside to be served and 15min later we left without one waiter coming to see us.

2 words - awful and overpriced! just goes to show, just because a restaurant is strategically located in the cbd, does not mean the food is good. This was a quick place to go to for a work mate's farewell and I was sorely disappointed. I ordered a lamb salad with haloumi which was $24! it wasn't tasty and I felt like it was such a rip off. My eating companions complained of the same thing. Don't bother going here, there are much better places to spend your hard earned money!

Pizza was worse than domino's and a whole lot more expensive. Crowded table with no spare space and noisy.

I try to avoid coming here as I find this place over priced and Food mediocre, but there was a group lunch booked so I had no choice.
As soon as food ordered, bread was served which were warm and fluffy. Menu choices are extensive with pizza, pastas, mains, salads. I opted for their chicken salad which was okay but not worth the $20 price. Other diners seemed to really enjoy their pizzas and the steak sandwiches.
We ended the lunch with coffees and I found my hot chocolate Luke warm. Just glad that I didn't have to pay.
September 4, 2005 - Went there for dinner and have to say that the lamb shanks were very tasty. The service was very friendly and the price very reasonable. There was live music on which was nice but maybe a bit too loud as it made conversation across the table difficult.

The best thing about this place is that it is open late at night. It's pretty much the only Italian cafe/restaurant in the city which doesn't say much for our presence there, but the pizzas were fresh and tasty enough. Friendly service. Ambience doesn't really match the price of the menu.

Went with the 2 course special and tried to order 2 entrées, which they didn't have due to low produce levels. Had the trio of mezze skewers for entrée and ordered the seafood dimare for a main.
Entree was boring, bland and the vegies on the skewers were almost rare, hardly any haloumi/chorizo and they were soaked in oil. The main was rubbish. Salad looked and tasted like something from Coles with no dressing. Prawns were simply deep fried, the 2 oysters were old and tasteless but the chips were nice. My partner had the panseared scallops as an entrée and were well presented but were over cooked and chewy.
She had the bbq chicken fillets, which were well cooked but the peppercorn sauce was far too hot and didn’t complement the dish and spoiled the meal, the quiche was alright though did look and taste very manufactured. Service was good but nothing worth mentioning. Waste of money, overpriced, and boring atmosphere.

I try not to review a restaurant until I've been there a couple of times. I found Macchiato by accident a couple of weeks ago and took a friend there for a birthday lunch. We booked ahead and sat in the 'mezzanine' level.
Service was great and the food very tasty. We took our own bottle of wine and had a few glasses of theirs and the price, I guess, was a little higher than average but I was very happy. We went again yesterday and again got great service, even though the staff were clearly under the pump.
The food was really tasty and we all thought it was very good value. In summary, there's not a lot of choice at this end of town and I would recommend you try it out. Full marks to Miss Poitiers, one of the excellent waitresses, you know who you are!
