Following great food on previous visits, we went back a third time. Unfortunately this time we had an aweful expereince, one that will result in us never returning and spurred me to write a comment here. I ordered the lamb. It came with 4 pieces of lamb rump on a bed of mash. Out of the 4 pieces, only 1/4 of one piece was edible - the rest was either fat or so full of fat that the knife would not cut it. The unedible portion covered 2/3rds of my plate when collected by the waitress. I commented that she should tell the kitchen that the cut of meat they served was all fat with barely any meat on it; this was fairly obvious from the remains on the plate. She mumbled a sorry and that was as far as their customer service went. They didn't offer anything complementary to make up for it or didn't offer to reduce the bill. We effectively paid $26 for mash. It is understandable that a restaurant might sometimes serve up a bad cut of meat but what was appalling was that it was totally ignored.

Consistently good food. Never disappointed when I go there. Prices are also reasonable and the service is good too. The bar serves the best Bloody Mary I've ever had!

Does the chef have an obsession with basil pesto? The vegetarian deep-fried won-tons were crisp but drowned in a basil pesto sauce served with a side of sweet chilli sauce! What were they thinking?

The fresh fish of the day - bream fillets were sweet and cooked just right on a bed of potato mash but again - why subject the delicate flavour of the fish to a heavy splash of basil pesto on top of the fillets? Main course of duck legs was a little dry. Nice presentation. Predicatable use of potato and pumpkin mash for their main courses. While they seem to be trying hard, they need to be a little more creative and have more thought into their sauces and mains accompaniments.

Service was attentive, although there were only 8 other diners that evening. The bistro is downstairs from the Monkey Bar so although well noise-insulated don't come here for a romantic meal on a Fri or Sat night. Very average food for the prices charged.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, fab bar food at reasonable prices. Excellent wine by the glass list.
