Absolutely dismal food. Service was ok though, but when they serve you thawed, imported-from-china seafood you can't taste how horrible the seafood is. Nothing short of a dead set rip-off. Save your money and get yourself a filet-o-fish instead.
I went to the Lugarno for the first time on Sunday for a function. When we walked in the place was buzzing with people and the atmosphere and the views seemed fantastic, that is until we sat at our table. I found the service to be very poor. It took them forever to bring our drinks and the staff seemed more interested in each other than to our expectations. The food was great but overshadowed by bad service.
Came here for lunch on a Monday to celebrate my birthday. Location is lovely in the daytime - very peaceful outlook over the river with a few boats and not too many houses.
Other than the prawn salad entree which wes a bit overpriced for what you get, I would rate the food very highly. The steamed snapper that I had was perfect & my husband loved the swordfish. Crepe Suzette was a delightful light dessert to finish off with & the coffee was good too. Wine list if extensive with a good choice of quality wines across a wide price range.
Comments by some that the food didn't match the price I would say might be warranted for the entrees but the main courses were very well priced for seafood. The service was impeccable - polite, smiling, not intrusive but there frequently enough to attend to your needs.
I ate at Largano's on a Monday night and it was a beautiful experience. The food was fresh and service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend anyone there any time.
I had lunch here once sometime ago. When you come somewhere like this you expect exceptional food quality for the price they charge. Unfortunately it is not the case. Food was average to good but when you compare it to the prices charged it actually becomes below average if you know what I mean. I think either a lot of people have too much money to waste or this restaurant has many friends who place one ridiculous overrated review. It does not deserve this rating -it's only in the 6's at best.
This was our second visit and unfortunately will be our last. We ordered a seafood platter and a lobster separately. The platter arrived with the lobster on it, the food on the platter had been reduced to make room for the lobster and at well over 200 dollars for the lot it was ridiculous. The food did not taste fresh and I must say we were extremely disappointed.
We have been here a number of times as guests for a Christmas function so I looked this up out of interest as I thought I might be the only one who had a bad experience. I'm sorry to see that I'm not alone. While I think the seafood platter is good value for two people there is nothing else I've had from their menu that could be described as either good value or good quality. The food is very over-priced and poorly cooked.
The service is generally disorganised and the waiters poorly trained. On one of the occasions we went we had two tables and one table was on to desserts before the second table had even been served their main course, no compensation for their error was offered. Even though we weren't paying it was embarrassing and very uncomfortable for everyone.
Any seafood restaurant that sees fit to serve a complimentary canape of a cracker with tinned tuna mayonnaise on it should be ashamed of themselves, why bother!
They are trading on their location, it's time to lift their game. Myself and others in our group recommended that our employer not waste his money on this venue again this year. We will be going somewhere else.
Yet again an excellent night spent at Lugarno Seafood. Food excellent, sevice excellent and the owners (particularly Maria) always make everyone feel special and part of their extended family. Do not change a thing !!
What a huge disappointment! I drove 1 1/2 hours to try this place and wish I hadn't bothered. I went in a group of 3 on Saturday night after reading all the fantastic reviews below.
We walked out after they served us one course. Being a seafood restaurant, you expect fresh seafood. Not here! I had soft, mushy prawns (only 2) that hadn't even been cleaned probably and the duck was incredibly dry. We then got charged $40 for 8 prawns (nothing else on the plate) what a joke. The swordfish was nothing to writet home about and it smelted.
In generally, this place lacks option. They should try putting a seafood pasta or a main option (other than the seafood platter) that offers scallops, crab or even balmain bugs.
They try harder with service, but that is messy at times also. No one knows what they are supposed to do. The lady at the front desk is extremely rude, I wonder what it takes to get a smile out of her. We will not waste our time here again....my advice to others is to not bother.
