I took my wife to Lugarno seafood restaurant tonight. I agree with the person below who says that it's more a "fish restaurant" than a seafood restaurant. We had the platter which was $120, then another $35 for half a lobster. It was nice but the lobster and crab were obviously frozen and hence lacking in flavour somewhat. Paying an extra $35 for lobster is just not worth it. The dessert (some sort of "gateau") was nice but at $13, way too expensive. To sum up, a nice place but simply too expensive.

2006 - Very nice setting, great river views, the decor somewhat "old style" but still very pleasant. Excellent service by attentive staff, relaxed environment where you can linger for coffee and port. Not a cheap night out, however, for a special occasion, well worth it. What a shame it's not BYO or we would visit more often. Food was fresh, well prepared and presented.

October 2009. Went to Lugarno with a group of friends. Must say, it's pretty "80's" in many ways and for the money, the food just doesn't cut the mustard. Overpriced but well serviced. Could really do with a more contemporary approach and a "refresh" to bring it into line with the market. My $120/head would have been better invested elsewhere, unlikely I will return.

Lugarno Seafood is excellent, I recommend it to anyone who is after a fresh taste of seafood. The seafood platter for two is enormous though has a great variety of great tasting seafood to offer. The service is very professional and the venue is very intimate and a nice romantic place for a quiet dinner for two.

My family and I went here for Christmas eve, a relatively busy time of the year and were exremely impressed at how quicky we were served. The food was fantastic although as a big eater found that my meal could have been a little larger. The parking is also a hassle but wouldn't deter me. Other than that we had a very enjoyable evening. Would definitely go again.

Have been going to this restaurant since I was a kid and Dad took his 'clients' out on the corporate card. Went there for my birthday this year after a few years away and not much has changed (especially the decor but it adds to the charm). The service was delightful and the staff really make you feel like you are a part of the family. The food was something special, pretty easy to make a seafood platter, hard to make it as good as this though. Great experience although the parking is a pain but well worth the hassle.

When a restaurant calls itself a "seafood" restaurant I expect to see "seafood" on the menu. Not 50 ways to do fish, and a seafood platter. I was disappointed there wasn't greater diversity on the menu. Fish is so easy to cook at home, I don't need to go out and spend a fortune on having someone else cook it. When I go out I expect something that I wouldn't cook myself at home.

This restaurant is EXPENSIVE. $33 for chicken!! A chicken breast in Woolies is $4 max, so for $33 I would expect it to be coated in gold. Oysters were $2.80 each. I felt like ordering one just to give them the dirts. Advertise them as a dozen or half dozen.

The desserts were nothing special. Chocolate gateau was a piece of chocolate slice with a scoop of vanilla icecream on the top. Very disappointing for $13. When I commented to the waiter on the crappy presentation he replied "but wait 'til you taste it". I tasted it, it was as ordinary as the presentation.

Frankly very disappointing. We had a voucher from the Entertainment Book that was buy one main and get one free, and with salad, wine and dessert it still cost us $95 per double. I can only assume the people who think it's fabulous have pretty low standards when they cook for themselves.

After reading all the reviews of this place, I wasn't sure if I should expect great food and service, or awful food and service. I ordered the seafood platter for two and it was the absolute best seafood I have ever eaten. This place will cure your seafood craving, as it did for me tonight. Best ever. Highly recommended.

Horrible meal, the fish was tough, dry and flavour very ordinary. Hardly worth the half a grand spent. When you pay for quality and you don't get it, it makes for an awful experience.
