The decore of the restaurant are not what will get you in, however, I've been going there for years and the place is clean and staff are very nice and friendly, most speak just Japanese though, so it is a bit tricky, but part of the ambience I would say :-)
I used to love the idiosyncrasies of the place, it just added to the ambience I mentioned before, the place closed often and the chef went on all public holidays and other holidays and they used to open at 6 and close at 10, so you had a small window to rush in and get yourself that great meal. No, I don't know why I used to love that, it just made it more fun to get there.
The food, until recently used to be the best Japanse I ever had, however, sadly, a few month ago management changed or simply just the Chef changed; the very serious old man chef that used to just make you feel intimidated, but also at the same time respected, very odd, but I loved the guy! Anyway, he is gone and a young man is there instead, the food tastes good, though, the special fantastic tastes are not there anymore, I think the years of experience does make a difference.
Also, the place now is becoming a real business, i.e. it opens often and more hours, none of that fun things and special feeling that you were able to get there.
So, now, the food is good Japanese food, better than most I ever tried, though not as good as before, prices have been put up, it lost some of its charms, but the staff are still polite and nice and friendly and the place is cozy.
Give it a try, you won't regret it.

Have been coming to this restaurant for a few years but it looks like they have recently changed management or sold the restaurant. The food is not as good as it was previously. Not bad for suburban Japanese fare, but could be better.

It is easy to keep walking as the decor is not that different from when this shop sold goldfish. It is very basic so when the food arrives and you taste it, you just get pleasantly surprised. The Sashimi is the best I have tried in Sydney.

Best Japanese I have had in Sydney. Good menu and value for money. Do not let the simplistic decor fool you. Well worth a try. Have been going there for years now.

This is a great Japanese restaurant. Don't be fooled by the decor. The food is excellent. The fish is really fresh. The dishes are a bit different to your typical Japanese restaurant. Also, they have this killer salad dressing.

Went there for dinner and the food was nice, though not really very good value for money. We got two starters, two mains and three drinks and it totalled up to over $70. Ambience is pretty bad, but wait staff are friendly enough. The tables up the back are too close together though and my husband and I felt like we were sharing a table with the fighting family next to us.

Have been twice now upon reading reviews on eatability and I have to say that I was rather impressed. Luck Sushi is run by Japanese people so that is always a plus for me. Sushi is excellent, probably ranking amongst the top with regards to Japanese restaurants in the South. Value for dining in and dinner is not excellent though given it is a suburban restaurant and menu is small. The other dishes I've tried are tempura, chicken katsu don, teriyaki chicken and sukiyaki beef, the latter two were a bit mediocre and food court tasting. Overall, would go back.

I have mixed views on Luck Sushi. I have eaten from this place a few of time now. First time was actually take away sushi and sashimi, absolutely perfect and wonderful. Second time we ate there. Sushi, not so great, most of it was okay but sadly the way a few pieces of fish were cut were not up to standard. Eggplant dish we had was wonderful, but the rest was very take it or leave it.

I have been to luck sushi frequently for the past few years, and I have to disagree with lilie and Teresa as I always order take-away and it takes 10-15 minutes maximum, never more than that (and I frequent luck sushi at-least 3-4 times a week). Luck sushi is a restaurant, not a sushi train, hence, the reason why you aren't screamed at upon entering and leaving.
Luck Sushi's sashimi is the freshest I have ever tasted, and I have eaten at numerous Japanese restaurants and sushi trains throughout Sydney and Japan. I only signed up to this website to write this one review because good restaurants don't deserve to have their name tarnished by bad reviews that are obviously false. I would recommend Luck Sushi to anyone who loves authentic fresh tasty sushi.
