Overview
Lucio Pizzeria has recently opened its doors in Republic 2, adding to the already vibrant Darlinghurst area.
Owner and Chef Lucio De Falco, in his first restaurant brings the traditional taste of Naples to Sydney.
Lucio Pizzeria is open 7 nights a week and offers a range of pizze, antipasto and is fully licensed. The wine list boasts both red and whites from Australia and Italy. Lucio Pizzeria uses fresh produce from around Australia and imports the much acclaimed Buffalo Mozarella from Italy.
Dine in relaxing indoor and outdoor seating whilst enjoying the taste of Italy at your doorstep!
Lucio spent 4 years at Amici Ristorante in Cammeray. Through Amici Ristorante Lucio was able to make a name for himself as one of Sydney’s finest Pizzaiolo’s. His customer base not only included the Neapolitan community but the wider Italian community. Through Lucios experience and skill he was also able to educate his Australian customers on what Vera Neapolitan Pizze was.
He gained rave reviews in the “Good Food Guide”, Sydney Morning Herald, The Sun-Herald, Sydney Weekender on Channel 7, Hospitality Magazine and Mosman Daily.
We look forward to seeing you at Lucio pizzeria!
Pizza were pretty good. The service was great - love the real Italian waiters and the overall ambience excellent. Great to see the Chef Lucio come out and say 'Hi'. Nice limited Italian wine list.
Went there on the public holiday for the first time, not thinking they would be open, what a surprise not only to find it open but to see 'THE' Neil Perry sitting there enjoying pizza with his family. The pizza was amazing and reminded me of my long lost holiday in Italy (particularly Naples!), when I was younger and childless! The base so soft, the doughy outside, the fresh and tasty ingredients, mmmm, getting hungry again just thinking about it!!! child friendly for early evening (perfect), later crowd of travelled, foodie locals.
My favorite starter is the antipasto selction with a very tasty variety and to finish?? why the pannacotta and the chocolate torte, who would have thought I would have 3 courses at a pizzeria!! But it would be a crime, an absolute crime, not to! thank you Lucio Pizzeria for making me relive my youth and tickling my tastebuds! See you soon!
Tried the joint a couple of time I've found the pizza decently cooked but with really average topping, they should really invest in more tasty ingredients, like others!!!
Came here on friday nignt after reading so many good stuff on this site. I have to admit I'm not sure about the authenticity. Pizza was pretty boring and ingredients more on the average side. Will not rush back.
Well came here because Time out Magazine rated it Number 1 pizza, and me and my friends don't agree. Pizza is average to me and the prices for other items in the menu were expensive. The Margarita pizza is how my friend rates pizza shops and we went to another place the night before it was a lot better than this. The desserts though was Great!! Service was great also.
You need to have eaten the true Neapolitan pizza to appreciate Lucio's. I am from Naples and lived mostly away and I have never never found a real Neapolitan pizza away from Naples. This was before I dined at Lucio. It's amazing and they have even Neapolitan cakes, try the pastiera and you won't be disappointed.
This place is fantastic. Simple decor, big hospitality and delicious food ! Italian chef Lucio has brought Napolitan recipes (some from his own family) to a small pizzeria in Surry Hills. The pizza is the real drawcard.... authentic Italian... light and crispy bases, simple toppings. The desserts are irresistable, and this comes from someone who rarely touches a dessert ! It's a must !
Great pizza and great desserts - a really fun little casual place to eat for an authentic Italian experience. It's in the old Pizza Mario location and the type of menu and quality is similar.
Service was excellent and friendly...highly recommended! Lucio, the chef, arrived from Naples 5 years ago and this is his first restaurant of his own. He really deserves to make it. If you can, have the Panna Cotta or the tiramisu. These are real standouts.
I’ve been 3 times and extremely satisfied on each. I have tasted most entrees - all fantastic. The pizzas were authentic and brought back memories of my pizza experiences in Italy. The deserts were divine. I was told one chef makes the lot - the man's a genius! I highly recommend this pizzeria.
