Cold pizza and very poor service, especially from the dismissive senior staff who thought his serving cold pizza was somehow the customer's problem. Overpriced. Cockroaches on the wall. A supreme disappointment.
Disappointment! Cold Pizza and cockroaches. I used to rate Love Supreme in my top three Pizza spots in the Eastern Suburbs. Not any more. I went there last night and will never return again! The place was by no means busy and we waited 1 hour for our food. The pizza was cold. We called one of the staff over to explain the situation and our pizza's were taken away and reheated with no offer to resolve the situation, we were even charged full price for the meal.
While we were waiting for our food to arrive we saw two cockroaches on the wall next to us.
I politely complained at the end of the meal, didn't want to make a scene (not my style) and it was my Mother birthday and was met with "Well what do you want me to do?" by the senior staff.
I have been a big fan of Love Supreme, I save it for when Melbourne friends come to town so they don't think things are too uncivilised in the town that thinks a view excuses bad food. But, alas there ain't no love at the Supreme anymore it is screaming tired, tired, tired, cockroaches crawling the walls, pizza was cold and blando, yummy green beans but I can do those at home, where to now I guess there is that Balmain place but just can't do Balmain even for great pizza.
I've heard SOOOOO much about this place and finally got to try it this week. I went early and it was quiet so got a table straight away. I'm a big fan of pizza so I didn't order much else although I had a couple of arancini which were very tasty and excellent value (at $2 each). The rest of the night was not good value. The salad of cabbage and fennel was tasty and very fresh and the pizzas were well made and bursting with flavour.
The only issue was that they were quite cold. When the waiter asked how the meals were, I told him and he simply replied saying that, that was surprising, as they were quiet. Quiet! I'll go again and give it another try, but there are many very good pizza places around so will be expecting something amazing next time. Pizza e Birra is better. Even Bar Reggio gives this place a run for it's money.
Top marks for the ambience. They really have created a great 'feel' in the restaurant with the lighting and the decor. Apart from that though not good. Service poor, pizza over priced and $10 corkage is a joke. The take away option is, perhaps, the way to go but after a recent visit there with a group of friends I won't be back. I'd recommend somewhere else in Newtown if you're after a quality pizza.
I have been going to Love Supreme regularly. If you choose the correct items on the menu the food is absolutely superb, the quality well above the price, the place is always alive and buzzing, and if you are lucky you will be served by some of the more interesting staff, these include a smattering of the eclectic or that wonderfully romantic Italian feel.
Until they introduced the ridiculous $10 corkage I would have given this a value of 10. It has also meant that I now go there at least 50% less than I used to. However, all that said I always have a good time, I love how the staff always remember me no matter how long since I have last been there, I love how it is always busy and yet they manage to find you a table, and, of course, I love the food.
The salads are all wonderful tho my particular favourite is the fennel and cabbage with parmesan, the pasta with the fresh tomato is always wonderful (some of the heartier pastas are a bit rich for me but my male firends always enjoy them) and I miss the home made ravioli they used to make, which was probably the best ravioli I have ever had.
The pizza's too are really good with a thin crispy crust and simple but delicious toppings, the VIP is my favourite. Must say I have never particularly enjoyed the entrees or the desserts here but who needs it if you can share a salad, a pasta and a pizza.
Really shouldn't have been able to feel the music they were playing, merely listening to it in the background would have sufficed. Wine list that needed an instruction manual to operate, but the pizza was quite good, of course for $26 you'd expect it to be.
But it isn't quite as bad as I make out. I'll probably give it another go. Suggest you do too, but go with an open mind!
Pizza was fine but cockroach and flies roaming beside us were not cool. Mentioned to management as we paid and nobody seemed too bothered. Won't be going back again.
Have been to this place a few times and it once was great. It went downhill with the $10 corkage which is a joke. Have got home delivery and a large pizza for $25 which I don't mind paying but it really doesn't look like a large and to top it all off it was cold and took an hour to get here when I'm 5 minutes away.
Ambience is great, food is also good but the service is lousy! It was 15-20 minutes before we even had an offer of a glass of water and the rest of the evening followed the same vein. The wait staff were rushing back and forth looking busy but never wanted to look at us despite many attempts to get their attention. What is a very lovely space is ruined in my view by the inexperienced wait staff too scared to look at you in case you interrupted their trip with a request!
