Went for breakfast on a Sat morning. Food was average with nothing more than homemade breakfast and service was poor. Tables and chairs are not clean, generally not that pleasant. Coffee not that great either. Not value for money. Will not go back.

Went on sunday for brunch. My partner ordered the sushi brekkie while I ordered the veggie breakie, nothing speical. Standard home made breakky with a touch of asian style, maybe should have gone for dinner? Thought the portions would be larger for an $18 vegie breakie, however, looked like bits and pieces on a plate.

Been to the Love Grub many times for dinner and it doesn't disappoint. Love the "Japas" menu especially pork belly and gyoza. Also love chicken and beef teriyaki set boxes. They have a new menu now which includes $5 Japas at particular times, as well as their usual happy hour times for beer. Wine and beer and juices are different and of high quality.
Breakfast isn't too exciting, altho I should check out to see if they have changed their brekky menu also. Good coffee IMHO. Perhaps, service could be quicker at times and I agree that sometimes the senior staff can spend a little too much time chatting with customers. But overall would recommend the dinner menu and the great setting. Cute herb/ veggie garden, good music plus toys for kids to play with while parents can relax.

I love Love Grub. Most of the seats are outside, on the grass, beside herb/ veggie patch. I have been a regular since october 2011 and the service has always been lovely, relaxed and friendly. The menu has been updated to give more vegetarian options (which is great because I am vegetarian). Their prices are reasonable. I really don't want to give it ten out ten because I don't want it to get too busy as I've always had a seat when wanting one, but I have to give it ten because I love Love Grub.

The setting is nice and prices look pretty reasonable. After being served we were quite disappointed on the food quality. It is more like pub finger food than Japanese food and portion are fairly small. Service unprofessional and cafe like which is fine but not sure it will keep up with the gentrifying area. There are better places to go in Alexandria/Redfern for dinner. Not sure I will come back.

We bought a voucher from one of those deals website and were not sure how this would end, as it seemed very cheap to be true. And after a couple of bad experiences with those vouchers, we didn't have our expectations very high.
But we were very surprised with the service and the food. Small touches such as count us as 3 people, even though our son is only 18 months old and also providing him with a cup for water, that was a first. The waitress was very prompt and sweet. We could have refills on our tea. We have 5 different tapas dishes. The rice balls were definitely my favourite.
My son couldn't have enough of edamame, it's such a simple thing but he loved it. We also had gyoza, karage and sushi/california roll, which was really good, there was a touch of tempura inside. The portions were good size, not big, but enough, after the 5 dishes we felt we had enough. We left with a good feeling that we didn't need anything else.
Of course with a $25 voucher with food for 2, that was a win. We had a look at the price and they were average to the high end. I'd definitely go back especially if they'd do tapas for $5 each one night of the week... that'd be awesome. Great little place, with high end food! Well done!

We went in a group of 6 people to Love Grub, a quirky place to experience some Japanese fusion and we were not disappointed. It was great value $25 for 2 people's worth of food - we sampled their edamame, gyoza, fried rice balls, chicken karaage and several of their teas (our fave was the genmaicha, roasted rice tea). The highlights were the chicken karaage and gyoza which were both done to perfection and the restauarant itself was very cosy.

My husband and I went here Saturday night on a voucher deal. For $25 we weren't expecting much, but the food was really lovely and substantial enough for a light dinner (edamame, rice balls, gyoza, sushi and katsu, all tapas style but not tiny portions).
The decor and service weren't flash, but we weren't expecting it to be for this price. Considering they were packed, the food didn't take too long to come out and it was worth the wait. Nice local find. We'll be back, will try lunch or brekky here next time.

My husband and I went to this place for dinner last night. I had brought a Love it up voucher for this place so the food was pre-paid. Since they knew that we had a voucher they treated us as if you are eating for free! Food sucks, especially the Rice Balls - it was a little smelly. Serving staff was unprofessional, our food was ready waiting on the beach top but the waitress was too busy chatting away for more than 10 minutes instead of bringing our food and drinks to the table.

Friends told me about this place and I then got a Love It Up voucher for it. I'm pretty skeptical about 'vouchers' as places will give you small portions and lackadaisical service generally. Love Grub was certainly an exception to the rule there!
Fantastic portion sizes and $5 beers we had edamame to start and then some simply wonderful prawn gyoza (could have eaten 20!). We had a lovely salmon sushi roll with tempura crunchies inside, which is something not many places do. Last I saw this done was in San Fran! We ordered an extra tuna sushi that was delectable but we definitely had too much food! The menu prices are really reasonable and the service was attentive and fun.
We will be back, probably next during the day as I hear the breakfasts are great. Thanks Love Grub, I love having a local place like you in the 'hood!
