This pub charges a dollar more for a beer than the neighbouring pubs. The 'atmosphere' is non-existent, largely because the decor is worn-out and bland but more because I find the bar staff to be rude, ignorant and totally lacking in any charm or hospitality. Sorry, I'm not the type to complain, but I can only tell you what my findings are. I even mentioned to one staff member that he was the only decent bartender - the rest seemed to be rude jerks.
Have not been to Stanley Street for a while so I thought I'd go for a stroll and have lunch with my sister, who is over from the UK for a holiday! I had heard that The LRH had a beer garden so we thought we'd investigate! To our surprise they had this cool outdoor area, chill out style! Had a huge lamb burger with hommus, loving it! My sis had the prawn linguine, both fab with a couple of beers! Great day! Great surprise!
A great little place that was really surprising! Downstairs is the regular dark dingy pub, but upstairs, the courtyard was fantastic, as was the open lounge area! Came here on a Thursday night for a few drinks before dinner, had such a great time that we stayed all night and ended up eating at the pub. Found the food pleasant - regular pub fare but a bit more upmarket. Pricing was decent, but it was just such a great place. Definitely do not be put off by downstairs - head straight upstairs!!!
I spend many a lunchtime here, and only ever order the salt and pepper squid which has always been fabulous. I order it everywhere else I go as well and I always enjoy it with the great side salad. Great value for money.
The service in this pub is fantastic, after going only a few times the waiter and several of the bar staff recognise us and always come over for a friendly chat.
Great for chilled out outdoor dinner or lunch, friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Well done guys, love your work!! See you Friday.......
The new chef and the new menu are just fantastic. We went there expecting your regular pub food but had a great meal that looked like it had fallen from the heavens and onto the plate. Great job and the chef was cute too. Stay sexy love your work.
My friends worked here, so it was hard not to have fun. There is pretty good music in the juke box. Fun easy Sydney and Surry Hills rockers and old annoying punters seems to get along here. A+ in my book.
This is a great find. Small pub in the heart of Darlinghurst. Really good value and great service from Steve, the restaurant waiter. Disagree with the last comment from Dan. I think Steve is an absolute gem of a waiter, always makes us feel comfortable and nothing is to much of an ask. I was told that they had a new chef called kim who is a "wiz" and after having one of the seafood platters for two at $30 (yes I said $30 dollars could you find cheaper!!!) I have to agree. Good to see one pub still doing good value pub food and not pretending to be something its not. Good work!!
