Saturday night wait, 2 hours, however, this was explained at the door. Lucky we found a bar table to sit and wait, after $20 cocktails, we were seated at the communal table. Table is sooo wide that you end up only speaking to the persons next to you. There is also a communal 'bar' table with bar stools which seemed to be allocated to couples dining together.

Food was ok but not what was written on the menu, broccoli was replaced by choy sum. The organic poached chicken was undercooked (flesh was still pink and bloody) and served cold. Waitperson tried to explain it was like a hainan chicken but I've had hainan chicken many times and Longrain's was so undercooked and served cold.

Mains were underwhelming in flavour (except the kingfish in green curry, where were the pea eggplants?) and were served over a 20 minutes period. We finished our mains and a side serving of snake beans appeared, just as we had given up hope of seeing it. Our bill came to $100 each for drinks, food, and shared desserts. I was really disappointed as I had expectations from their Good Food Guide review and hat status.

You could have the Longrain experience (and a cheaper night!) by sitting in the Longrain lounge area and having their bar menu, it would be cheaper and there is a wide selection of dishes plus items that are not on the main menu, eg. soft shell crab, salt and pepper prawns, whitebait fritters and five spice cashews.

I visited this restaurant because of masterchef. Martin Boetz who is the executive chef of this restaurant appeared in the show and made the eggnet and so went there tonight and tried it. Service was great! And didn't take long for me to get a seat, in fact immediately. The eggnet came in about 10 minutes or so, thats what it felt like.

The vinegar packed a punch with the eggnet. The egg was very light and the 'salad' was very fragrant and packed a punch. And with an extra lime, it took it to another level. Very nice indeed. Abit pricey but I think its worth. The sorbet is very nice as well, very refreshing. Definitely recommend it to thai food lovers!

The food is good, but it's over priced.

Staff were friendly, food fusion was very good and cocktails were great but did not like the seating arrangements. For someone who doesn't frequent trendy expensive restaurants, I don't understand why you would fork out top dollar to be sitting on a long table with strangers and your partner is sitting beside you that you can't talk to or look at without turning around.

The much vaunted 'eggnet' was the best dish, we had a reasonable salad though when we ordered, no-one mentioned it was very similar to another dish we'd ordered. Caramalised pork was basically mega crispy meat in sweet gloopy sauce.

I don't mind crispy crackling, but wasn't sure about crispy meat. The belly pork almost made up for this as it was gooey and lovely though disappointly only thinnish 3 slices. My impression was that it was mostly reasonable food, not spectacular, at hugely inflated prices.

Wait staff seemed pretty snooty though were attentive, promptly refilling glasses etc. Personally, I dislike the long bench table approach; not so much because I was sitting next to other groups but mainly because the table is so wide you have to shout to speak to anyone on the other side.

I noticed couples being seated side by side to counter this; fair enough, but for groups of 3 or more it's not conducive to a chatty night out with friends. I've marked down the ambience because of this, otherwise I would've given it a 9 or 10. Might stick to the bar area next time. Great cocktails!

Not sure why everyone talks about the queues here, we turned up on a Thursday night at 6:15 pm and were seated straight away. It did get crowded at 8:00 pm but still had spare capacity. The shared seating is well proportioned (unlike Jamie Oliver's 15 in London where elbow to elbow is the spacing) and the decor is very cool.

The service was excellant and very friendly. We ordered the salt and pepper perch (outstanding taste and amazing presentation) and the wagu beef red curry, both were huge servings (we asked for a doggie bag and the staff packed it up for our lunch) and fantastic taste.

We had cocktail as we had heard they were one of the best in Sydney, mine was a little ordinary (just vodka and berries) but my partners was unusual and very tasty. Neither had much alcohol in them for the price. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience here and would recommend to anyone who loves good food to try it out.

Food is exceptional. Very tasty and rich in flavours. It is a little more than the average Thai restaurant, but the quality of food is much, much more than you would expect from your average Thai. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and would definitely return.
