We love the Little Monk for dine in or takeaway. The pork belly is especially delicious, but everything that comes out of that tiny kitchen is a sensation.

My family and I are regulars of Little Monk and there is little to fault with this restaurant and I'm surprised it could receive any negative feedback (which is what prompted me to sign up and write my first review).
The food is delicious and very reasonably priced and the service is always friendly. I recommend the coconut prawns, soft shell crab and spring rolls for starters and my favourite mains are the pork belly (trendy belly) and green curry! Keep up the good work little monk!

One of many Thai places in Pyrmont. This one is just above average overall. We had some interesting lotus root chips to start, then the Granny Fish which you must try! Its deep fried fish with a crunch, tangy and hot apple salad. Fantastic! We also had the basil beef which was way too much soya, so the sauce was thick and overly salty. Actually tasted more Chinese than Thai. So, suggest you stick with the Signature Dishes and you will be delighted with some unusual Thai ingredients.
The place was quiet for a Friday night, except for the constant takeaways. Its tucked away above the tram stop, so you wouldn't know it was there if walking down Harris St. The fit out is funky, modern and clean. A nice little place. And there are a million little monk dolls all over the counter which kids will love.

Ordered soft shelled crabs and pork vermicilli rolls as entree. Barramundi, Funky Chicken and Massaman curry as mains for group of three. Food was exceptional, servings huge and service delightful. We will return soon and often.

Was adding some reviews of recently visited restaurants and was shocked and surprised to see some negative comments as this place is amazing. We were there a couple of months ago and really enjoyed the experience. Four of us shared a variety of dishes (including the pork belly & duck confit), all of which was fab. Also had the snowy prawns and soft shell crab. The restaurant is tiny and intimate. We thought the service was friendly and helpful. We'll be returning on Friday night to take an interstate visitor to share the delights.

Innovative thai cuisine? Mmm? There's nothing innovative with this less-than-ordinary thai place. The pork belly was too chewy and duck confit was a total confusion on the plate. Flavour combination with duck, tomato and curry sauce was unbalanced. The service was really slow. Ambience was nothing special, we get the message that this restaurant is called Little Monk, no need to have ten thousand monk figures all over the place. Overall very disappointing experience.

You make us laugh out loud... :-)
We're really wondering when you visited our shop for dining. As we remember and from our record in the dockets, we're pretty sure that there was none of them shown anybody had a pork belly dish and a duck confit on the same bill for a while. Oops...we do apologise if we're wrong about suspecting this issue. Who knows? You might ordered them at the same time before but we believe that would be long time ago and then how come this review has been written here just now? Otherwise you might had them (the pork belly and the duck confit) at the different orders then you must be our regular one, right?...hahaha...LOL...so we've no word but thanks for coming by all the time although you had overall very disappointing experience but still kept coming back.
Warm Regards,
A Little Monk
P.S. Actually we have only 28 cute little monk figures plus a big one in our shop, oops and there's another monk who cooked for you in our kitchen as well.

My friend and I love to eat out and try some special foods. We came cross the website of Little Monk and found out their menu is so cute and fancy. They are selling fusion Thai food and Asian food. We decided to give it a go last night.
We were attracted by the “Little Monk statute” at the front of the shop and the humble but warm shop interior design when we got there. We were greeted by the smiling waitress.
We ordered the Marinated Pork Skewer as our entrée. The meat was so tender and the sauce was so tasty and special which I could only have it in Thailand before. We told ourselves we could get Thai street pork skewer in Sydney now. Yum Yum!
We ordered Little Monk Barramundi and Tropical Duck Confit as our main courses. We found out they combine the Chinese steam cooking skill to cook the barramundi and spread the Thai tamarind sauce on top of the fish and decorated with the ginger, shallot and the chilli broth and coconut lime custard. The fish was so fresh but not fishy as the Thai sauce and other ingredients have covered that. The barramundi dish is definitely likened by the people who like Chinese food and Thai food.
The Tropical Duck Confit was actually recommended by the waitress who told us that they slow cooked the raw duck in the restaurant until it become tender, not like the other Thai restaurants which use the roast duck in the market. We took her advice and try the duck dish. The lychee they used has neutralised the sour flavour of the tomatoes and strong curry flavour. The duck meat itself was not only tender but tasty with some special flavour which I think was the smell of herbs and other ingredients when the duck was slow cooked.
The duck dish did not disappoint us. It definitely worth your try. The chef, Nick, came to ask our opinion about his cooking. He smiled after he knew we like his cooking. We could tell Nick is very serious about the feeling of his customers. We were 100% satisfied with the dishes we ordered and very glad we can have such special foods in Sydney. Thank you – Little Monk!

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant as another addition to the Pyrmont food scene. Unfortunately it did not live up to my expectation. The food was basic suburban Thai/Asian food. A dish of pork belly was very fatty and had a strange aftertaste. It was also served luke warm. The service was very very slow. I am surprised this place is surviving given the much better competition.
Response from Management:
Dear Cityeater,
We're sorry to hear that we couldn't satisfy you whilst dining in here. But thank you anyway for your review and your point of view that motivates us to improve our cooking and service. And hopefully we'll be able to get a chance to serve you again just in case we'll still survive by the time you might want to try us again. :-)
By the way, I want to thank everyone who posted the review here and all patrons who visited us either at the shop or our eatability page. We always realise that we can't make everyone happy but we'll try our best to do what we love (cooking and serving) for you.
Best Regards,
Little Monk Team.

I went to Little Monk last night with two others, for the first time. It was so good it inspired me to post my first review. As already mentioned, it is small, so don't turn up unannounced with a large group. I can report they have introduced music, as another reviewer suggested.
The food, and especially the entrees, were fantastic and it is worth a visit for the chocolate cake alone. It was good value and the service was very friendly and efficient. It is a bit hidden away above the tram stop, but I recommend seeking it out.
