Stick to the hot chocolates, delices and croissants, you won't be disappointed. Delices are especially good for that mid-afternoon sugar hit. I love the Lindt Cafe and will definitely be back for more!
The coffes are great. Cake - Chocolate Cerise are the best blackforest cake ever!
St Moritz is not bad as well. However the Chocolate Du Celebreation is a little too sweet. The service is attentive however, the place can be very crowded during the afternoon where you have to sit very close to the ppl next to you on the other table.
Chocolate cakes/desserts are great although being chocolate they seem to come straight from the cold cabinet which reduces the eating pleasure. The savoury choices are ok but over priced for what they are. Service average.
I got my cup take-away while friends from work stayed. Unfortunately, no tables were available so my friends began to get their hot chocolates or coffees take away. Suddenly a table opened up and my friends sat waiting for other scrumptious things. More unfortunateness as a waitress and then another service employee told them they could not sit at a table with a take-away cup.
Despite the explanation that they wanted a table, but none were available initially this wasn't acceptable to management. Even when my friend agreed to pay the price difference between take-away and in-house served cups! Somehow Lindt has forgotten that when you put the words Customer and Service together it's supposed to mean something, but obviously it doesn't.
Having been to the Lindt Cafe at Cockle Bay just the day before, I was excited to be visiting a Lindt Cafe again. This time I ordered a Mocha with milk chocolate. The shop was very busy but I got my take away order very quickly. I was very disappointed to taste my Mocha only to realize that the coffee was burnt.
I returned to the store, where both the waiter and barista instructed me to "give it a good stir" to mix in the chocolate. I was a bit perplexed as to how they thought stirring a coffee would make it taste any less burnt but I did so anyway.
It still tasted burnt and so I was given a replacement and promised by the waiter that it would not happen again. As the barista handed it to me he emphasized again to make sure that I gave it an EXTRA BIG STIR before tasting it. It was burnt. Again! At this point I gave up.
Anything here that is chocolate = Good!!! But stay away from the sandwiches, They taste like defrost!!!! Definitely not freshly made!!! If it weren't for their sandwiches, I'd give food a 10!
Had afternoon tea here yesterday. I ordered an iced chocolate and a white chocolate eclair and I didn't particularly like either of my choices. The iced chocolate had a whole lot of crushed ice in it. Unlike the previous reviewer, I didn't like it. Add to that the fact it had no cream or icecream either. I was expecting a big calorie decadent drink, but it wasn't it. The white eclair was way too heavy and stodgy. I'm used to them being very light with fresh cream, not custard.
After a few tastes of what I ordered, I left them and re-ordered something else - a chocolate lava cake and a hot chocolate. They were much better choices and I left happy. The service was friendly and the wait wasn't too long which was good, considering it was packed.
A long way from being European. 2 patrons receiving their order 10 minutes apart and asked to vacate their table of 4 because 4 people were waiting....Can do better.
I had read alot of reviews about how bad the service was at both cafes, but I visited the Martins place cafe and this was not the case. I was seated pretty much stright away and a lovely waitress brought me a menu and water promptly. The cafe was definitely busy (even at 4 pm) with many of the local office workers having hot drinks, its obviously very popular with the locals.
The cafe has a beautiful interior and many products. I ordered a piece of 'celebration de chocolate' chocolate cake and a hot chocolate. The cake arrived first, with the drink taking another 5-10 minutes, slightly annoying, as having the two together would have been great but not a major issue. The cake was amazingly rich, that coupled with the hot chocolate (authentic style, a pot of actual Lindt chocolate and a pot of milk) was probably a bit too much.
I would advise having a healthy lunch before hand to stabilise your blood sugar, cause the sugar rush is intense! The couple next to me had the new lava cake (slightly on the small side, however, comes with ice-cream which would have been nice with my cake!) and an icechocolate, that looked great. Again, the drinks arrived after the cake. I also bought two of the delices and a 'wimbledon' strawberry centred chocolate, amazing, to take home.
All up that came to $25. Maybe a little pricey, but the place is addictive. I am in Sydney for 10 days and I think I will be visiting once more before I leave, to try something else from the large menu!
