I have been here a few time and the quality of the food is quite consistent. The BBQ meat selection is great however, the hot food selection is a major let down.
The service is close to non existent as we have to wave our hands frantically just to get their atttention.
Food is good enough, however, the service is shocking. A few times we went, we have a group of 10 or more people, but they would only give you 1 thongs per grill, which means really slow cooking, as only 1 person can access the cooking properly. The way the waiters react when you ask for an extra thong, you would have thought the thongs and scissors was worth the price of gold.
You have to almost get into a fight with them to just get any normal extra cutlery and they treat you very rude from start to end. This is consistent everytime we go, so we have decided to ban this korean BBQ from now on.
Not the most friendly staff as they tap on a piece of paper getting you to read "the not waste food or you will be charged line" but the food was not too bad. There is a selection of bbq meats, cooked traditional korean foods, salads and fruits.
One bad thing though was, it took a really long time for the bbq grills to heat up!
Even though you think its hot enough to start cooking, somehow the temperature is never right. Do they turn the grills down on purpose just so you can eat less? Taking twice as long to cook the meat was very frustrating! oh, and also, they didn't even replace the potato salad that was finished at 7.30 pm (they're suppose to close at 10 pm) what does that mean?
An interesting and unique dining experience. Reasonably good value for money and the quality of the food wasn't too bad. A hot night outside meant that it was nearly insufferable inside! The only real bad point of the night. We will probably go back there because it is something different.
Absolutely Love it!!! Have been there more than 10 times with friends, family and colleagues for farewell, birthday and surprise-dinners so far and none of them ever got disappointed! It's Korean and therefore, service is different but the food is great (especially if you're more into Vegetarian and Salad's or trying out different things) and even the beef eaters never get disappointed.
I think it's good value for price, 30 bucks for all you can eat and you can choose what and how much of it you want. If you're into taking it easy and slow eating while having a good night out, thats the place to go to! They have all the variety. From aussie-salads to Miso-soup to ox-tongues and marinated teriyaki-chicken.
I think the overly negative comments here about the food at Lim's are far removed from reality. There is no greater variety of buffet food that can be found anywhere near Hurstville. And provided you cook it properly, it is yummy indeed!
The place is always packed on weekend nights, so service is expected to be not so good. And of course it's going to be relatively expensive compared to other restaurants in Hurstville - it's a meat buffet!
Been here once and don't want to go back again. It's a wonder how it's always filled with so many ppl. The meat is not marinated well and doesn't have much taste. The cooked foods are better but not outstanding either.
The day I went, we were seated at a table near the window and the sun happened to be shining directly at us. We tried to move around a bit but still couldn't avoid it so we asked a waitress if we could change tables because of the sun. She said ok but didn't attend to us for another 10 minutes or so. When they finally moved the bbq hot plate for us, she only told us to sit further along the table but the problem was that the sun was still shining in my face! I didn't bother afterwards and just put up with the sun for another half an hr until it set and the light moved away from my view.
If quality is more important than quantity to you, I suggest you are better off going to a normal Korean bbq restaurant and ordering what you want to eat.
The food is nice and ambience is al right. But the value is too overpriced. I went there once and they charged me 3 adults instead of 2. Quite disappointing.. but overall ok.
I have had dinner here a few times. The price per person is a bit pricey considering the area it is in. But it's not a bad restaurant, the food is ok and although our grill was slow to cook, it was ok in the end. It's a great place for a large group of friends, the place does not get too busy even on a weekend night which is good when you decide to go their last minute. A tip from me, make sure you do not wear your favourite outfit because you will smell like smoke when you are finished. If you don't eat much, it might be better value to try another Korean BBQ place like in Campsie. Also this place closes on a weeknight (I think it's Tuesday).
I have been here a few times before and was OK. The food was not as good as other places and it is a little expensive for Hurstville areas. However, on Saturday night (8 July) was the worst experience I have ever had in any restaurant. There were 8 of us and it was busy. The hot plates came out 10 minutes later but they only put one down for my friends for 4 people. We knew it was busy so we were OK to wait for ours. 20 minutes passed and we started to have salad while we waited. A Table sat down near by and their hot-plates came for all 4 tables. So we asked and they said that it was busy so it won't be long. 30 minutes now since my friends got theirs and they were already started to get full - we were still waiting.
We asked several people and they all said it won't be long. They put hot-plates on other tables but not ours. I asked them if we did anything wrong to them (we were not abusive, we were really really patient!!!). 40 minutes came passed - my friends were onto desert and we finally got out plate - the only problem was, we were full of salad. No apology at all, we asked for a discount and they said no. $29 for potato salad and we won't go back again. We were patient. We were not abusive at all! I haven't complained about any restaurant but this was the worst experience I have ever had. I know the night was busy but if you go with a group, half of them shouldn't only be served while half are not, and while everyone else who sits down while you are still waiting.
