The service in this place was so bad that it became laughable! We were the only people dining and now I know why, their food very average and over priced. Prime location but such a let down with the food and most of all service. I would not recommend this place to anyone and we won't be going back.
Bland, bland, bland. We wondered whether our meal was prepared by a chef or thrown together by one of the backpacker waitstaff. I pity the poor international tourist that dines at Lenin and walks away questioning is that what Sydney dining is all about. I'd give it a miss.
Love going here for a good night out, great location, comfy seats, amazing drinks.
Last time we went, the staff kept complaing about having them make the drinks...found it odd since they are bar staff and that's pretty much what they get paid for. Other than that, love it and it's a regualr night out.
The ambience of the bar inside is pretty much all there is to this place. Service is horrible! We gave ourself ample time as we had opera tickets but were shocked to wait over 40 minutes for our food to come and the place was barely half full. We asked to have our meal checked on (as we had by then about 20 minutes to eat) and our waitress said "sure" and went off to clear the table next to us rather than go to the kitchen. Staff seemed to be a group of backpackers who were there to make a quick buck and move on. Food was ok. Not bad but not memorable. Won't ever go back.
Came here on a Tuesday night, where they do $7 vodkas, had a few cocktails which were very impressive, and the staff had great recommendations. Sat outside for dinner with a group of about 8 and the food came out within a reasonable time, and was really nice. Everyone ordered a mix of food and all were quite happy (I had Lamb Rump which was delicious). Perhaps, the staff or management read these reviews? I saw no sign of inattentive staff or slow service.
Went there, was shown to a table and waited and waited and waited. Made eye contact several times with a waitress and blind freddy could have seen we were ready to order. Finally gave our order and the food came out before the cutlery did. The food portions are good but my perfectly cooked, melt in the mouth lamb shoulder was cold, I wouldn't blame the chef for this as I have a strong suspicion that it was left while the waitresses gossiped/flirted and let it get cold.
It wasn't busy at all but service was non-existent. It was reasonable value for money given the location, and really cheap if you have kids as they have a kids meal with drink and ice cream for 13 bucks which would be cheap anywhere let alone in a location like this. It really was the service that let this place down, waitresses seriously need a kick up the bum by the manager, fantastic meal, terrible service.
Great food. Salmon dish was piping hot, delicious and cooked to perfect. Staff however were not so hot. Too busy dancing, flirting with each other and mucking around to notice customers; it was really quite bizarre. Like being served by a bunch of schoolies who'd missed the flight to the Gold Coast!!
This is one of the best cocktail bars in Sydney. If you haven't been here you must check it out. Order the tall glass cocktails, which are very flavoursome, but also very refreshing and gentle on your stomach. They are all good but the best ones would probably be Vladimir punch, Apple Asimov and Thai spicy. When I see people coming here to drink beer and eat chips, it breaks my heart. Come well fed, but thirsty. Then get a few cocktails and relax on the cumfy couches and cushions.
The place also has great ambiance. The Soviet and Socialist themes are well represented through an interesting fusion of strong colours and dim lighting. This gives the bar a very unique sensation that arouses a strong sense of warmth and visual delight. Great place to go with a small group of friends, or possibly a date. As far as I have seen, the staff and security are friendy and polite, as are the patrons. This place is a NO AGRO zone. Everyone is chilled out and minding their own business. Only go there at night. During the day, the glare is unbearable, and all the magic lost.
Definitely would not dine here again. Lenin's staff is as cold as Russia itself. No service and the food was BAD!!! When requested medium cooked Rump come out well done??? Not good and pricey too. The ambience looks great but you are quickly let down by poor service and food. Take yourself off to somewhere else where "you" are the important one.
