Wow! So glad we finally tried this restaurant. The only thing that stopped us during the past couple of years was the price and it is a bit expensive but the food was amazing. Best spicy shredded fried fillet steak I have ever tasted and I've tasted quite a lot and I'm not even a fan of spicy food, it was just wonderful and crunchy and light! Short Soup was great and after our main meals we had dessert (kit-kats) conjured up from behind our ears!
Magic tricks and great service, what more could a hungry couple ask for?! Sure the decor is not modern or anything, but its quaint and the food is great. We already know what we will order for our next visit! Can't wait to come back!
Well, went here for our Anniversary dinner, and while pleased with the food, we were not too pleased by continual service dramas. I will start with the good. The lamb pancakes are to die for, the satay prawns were a large serving, and the plum sizzling chicken nice. The service though? Had to ask to be given our second entree and were given the wrong main meal, but quickly changed out for the right one thank heavens.
Unusual considering there are so many waiters and the restaurant being far from full being a Tues night. Bit pricey, but the food quality I think can justify this. Worth a visit, though it may be better going on a busy night as opposed a quiet one, you never know, you may get quicker and better service?
Local Crows Nest Chinese where we held a work function for 25 people on a Tuesday night, have to agree that the food here is of an excellent standard, duck was delicious as were all the dishes although the scallop dish was a little plain. Service is as expected. The decor is strange and hasn't been updated since 1977. Would happily bring the family or group back. A good experience.
Came here on a quiet weekday afternoon for lunch with a regular who has frequented this restaurant for many many years. The location leaves a bit to be desired, as does the shabby interior, but the service and the food is fantastic! Had the benefit of attending the restaurant with a long-standing regular, so, perhaps, service was even better because of it, but the waiters were just all so charming in their own way.
We started with the lamb pancakes, then had prawns, salt and pepper lobster and shandong chicken. All the dishes were very flavoursome, fantastic food! Cannot comment on value as I didn't even look in the menu, but whatever it is, I'm sure it was worthwhile.
The best Chinese restaurnat in Sydney! My perception of Chinese restaurant has been changed since I've been there! I had dinner with my friends last sunday and that was my third time. The price is higher than other chinese restaurants but this restaurant cannot be compared!
Every staff asked us whether their food is ok and made some jokes, they are very friendly. We had scallops for entree and it was just beautiful! My friends were all impressed too! A big restaurant with very friendly atmosphere. If you go with a group of ppl, I'm sure you will have a great time!
It's been about 20 years since my family started going here, and it's still my favourite Chinese in town. Good things sometimes don't change and this is one of them. Go for the King Prawn Omelette and the Shredded Beef (not the best choice for the figure, but so yummy!). Toffee apple is a must too, if you have room. It is pricey for Chinese food, but well worth the extra $$ when you're in need of a fix!
A consistent favorite of ours. We've had countless birthday dinners here. Birthday cake cut with sword is always fun for kids. Staff are always friendly and much fun.
I go to Lees once a month usually, friends go more often. These guys really ace the peking duck experience IMO. Had peking duck all over the city and can't fault this one. Am yet to go to Emperors Garden tho. So, faves here are the peking duck, pancakes and leaves and soft egg seafood. Service is great, really old school chinese. Highly recommended for groups/mates. Maybe less so for couples.
Have eaten here a few times, one of Sydneys best restaurants IMO. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, staff are fantastic.Try the lamb pancakes, damn they're good.
"Best Chinese in Sydney" Give me a break. All I can say is that there must be something in the air at Crows Nest which causes locals to be easily pleased. I can't believe some of the recent comments are genuine. The fried rice- gluggy, steamed dim sums looked and tasted like they had just been taken from the local Coles freezer, chicken dish, tastless and tough (how can anyone make chicken tough? Beef dish again tough and tasteless. The salt and pepper prawns were, well, no different from any served at a run of the mill country golf club. Prices, outlandish given the quality.
