Lattechino has been through quite a few changes over the last 18 months, they certainly seemed to loose their way after a few ownership changes but finally they are getting their groove back.

The current chef seems to have taken over the menu again, going back to italian standards and doing them very well. The regular change to specials is back which is fantastic for those who live locally. You are able to select from the favourite staples or try something new.

The prices have also come down, instead of $20-25 main you can now pick up a really good meal in the $15 bracket with some more expensive options if you feel like something fancier.

Coffee is also back to a very high standard, have had coffee by both of their barista's and they are fairly evenly matched. They even take the time to put a fancy motif on top if you are having your coffee in.

Service is also much better, menu's have always been delivered withing 3 minutes of sitting down and a bottle of water is delivered automatically.

Only thing is it is time for a facelift, it hasn't been re-done since it first opened 6 years back and it is starting to show a bit. Lattechino is designed as a funky modern younger-set cafe so keeping it fresh is a must to bring the ambience up.

Also, Lattechino if you read this, please bring back the in-house made desserts and cakes! I really don't like the store bought cling-wrapped versions, so I'm sticking to the fresh baked muffins when you have them else go without.

If you're looking for an unfriendly place that dislikes children then this is the place to go. Coffee, food and service is not impressive at all. The workers were busy chatting and eating while we sat there for 10 minutes waiting to be served. My son was then served ice cream that had a thick sticky layer on it indicating how unfresh it was. The last few times I went the place was empty and the floors were very dirty. It's a shame that a place that once had so many good reviews thanks to the old owners is now not a nice place to go.

Served macarons for Saturday afternoon tea that were stale (i.e. crunchy, not soft). Did not notice this mistake until brought to their attention. Strawberry smoothie, thought it was going to be ice cream with yoghurt and real strawberries. Instead received a glass of milk with supermarket strawberry topping.

Service lack lustre and 'can't be bothered'. I can't explain whether this is a one-off, whether they are confident in them being the only cafe in Concord West or whether prior success is getting to their heads.

We always have coffees at this place after a bike ride and occasionally take advantage of the "special pasta nights". There is one reason why you must not miss this place if you are in the area: their coffee is just great. Service is very friendly (maybe a bit to rushed taking orders before you have settled in), but that is a refeshing change from your average coffee place. Pasta nights are also good value and everyone at the restaurant seems to care that you have a great time.

We had dinner at this unassuming and obscurely located restaurant on a quite Wednesday night. Expectations were not high as this is not a suburb known for worthwhile eateries. Hence, we were rather stunned when the food and service both surpassed our expectations.

The pastas were why we wanted to eat here. They are all made on the premises by a chef with an impressive CV. The menu keeps things short and simple, but the food is cooked with skill and care. Far more skill than one would ever except in such a suburban location.

The service on the night we dined was particularly attentive and engaging. Whether such a high level of service would be given on a busy Friday or Saturday night I don't know. I'd highly recommend Latteccino as a place to have a casual meal of surprisingly high quality.

Don't miss the desserts in the glass cabinet either. They are marvellous.

This is basically a gelato bar/coffee shop set-up, with the ambience to match. The owner told us they have been trading for dinner for only 3 or 4 months, and renos are on the way. What they have done though is clever. They have kept the menu very tight with only a few selections for entrees and mains.

In addition, three or four styles of pasta is offered, with three or four sauces to choose from. Desserts can be selected from the display cabinet. We decided on the ricotta and spinach agnolotti with gorgonzola sauce, and the calamari to share for entrees. Both were simple, yet really enjoyable. They were main meal sizes, leaving us both stuffed and only able to share a main meal between us.

For this we chose the lamb backstraps, again done very simply with a jus, mashed potato and a couple of veges. The lamb was expertly cooked, we really enjoyed it. Would have no hesitation in going back.
