My Favourite authentic Thai/Lao Restaurant in Sydney, great value last time I took 12 family members and only spent $140, always packed best to take away if you don't feel like waiting.

This hole-in-the-wall restaurant is well known by local. If you live near by, the fastest way to get your food is takeaway (they give priority for takeaway orders) else expect a line waited outside almost every night after 7 pm. This is not surprising as the food is delicious and the price haven't change for a while. Where else can you get a tasty BBQ dish for $8? Most expensive dish is $12.

Service is quick but not attentive. The cutleries (or drinks) simple placed on table and let us pass around the plates and spoons. Food place at any empty space on a table, instead to the person that ordered the dish, or avoid put hot dishes too close to small kids.

Overall, if you want cheap and good food, don't mind a bit of wait and little services (but very quick) then this is the place.

Some hints: parking is free in the big car park behind Fairfield RSL club. Most BBQ dishes can order half-n-half. Must try: pawpaw salads, beef jerky, BBQ dishes, ox tongue, fried quail, fried rice, sticky rice balls (instead normal steam rice), Lao sausage, chicken feet salad (shredded skin not the whole feet like in yumcha). Ask for small bowl+chopsticks to eat instead of the (default) small dish+spoon.

The dishes look small, but once you get the bill and divide it up it turns out to be pretty cheap. The interior looks a little bit run down but it's the food that counts, right? The staff aren't really there half the time, they take your order, they bring you food, they give you the bill, simple.

This place is great. Each and every time I come here to eat, their food is exactly as I remembered it. Deliciously chilli. It's a hidden restaurant & has a very 'homey' feel. The staff are ok, not much to comment on. I went out with 10 of my friends and the bill came down to 200-300 or so & we ordered a lot! Particularly because the boys eat a lot. So this place definitely gives you value for money!

This restaurant is tops! The Som Tum (Green Papaya Salad) is unique, as I can not find one this good in the city, and their Yum Woon Sen (Pork Mince and Glass Noodles), Laotian Sausages, Larb (Beef and Pork Mince Salad) is all really scrumptious and is prime example of what Thai/Laotian food should be, Refreshing, great blend of hot, sour and sweet and most of all a great Aunty who owns the place who is always working so hard, and yet has the time to acknowledge and build rapport with customers. It is worth the trip to the west, if you live in the East or North.

Delicious Laotian food. I recommend the fried quail, seafood fried rice, and Lao sausages with sticky rice. 5 dishes for afternoon lunch for four people added up to $40-50! This place is great value. The restaurant is in need of a renovation however.

Its a really cheap place to eat, some mains are $6 and the most expensive meal is prawns at $9.50. I found the food average and the lady tells you what dish does with what rice/dish. It's a small place, almost hidden, next to fairfield rsl, I would come back simply because of the cheap price.

I have been going to this place for years, and year on year the food has been brilliant and the prices hasn't moved, making it both good in the stomach and the pocket. Great service everytime I go there and you can have a decent size dinner for two for around $40. You can't get more authentic than this place here - my must have dishes include oz tongue (beautifully marinated), quails, lao's papaya salad, chicken feet salad, laos sausages, washed down with a can of Red Bull. Highly recommended if you're after cheap authentic Laotian food!

I can't get enough of Lao Village. The food is authentic. The service is very friendly and prompt. At times there is the language barrier but you can't help but smile, because they've always got a smile for you too. And the value! At $6 a plate you can't go wrong.

From time to time I get cravings for their Lao sausage, bible salad, lao som tum, fried quail my mouth waters as I speak. Only two things to keep in mind, there aren't very many vegetable dishes and don't expect too much from the decor. Also, make sure you book. You'll find not only do the locals love this place, so do various other people from around Sydney who drive to all the way Fairfield for their fantastic food.
