This place is obviously trying to make a buck where ever they can. This is some of the worst cafe food I have ever had and the prices are high. We ordered 4 burgers. 3 were burgers with the lot and they came out as just cheeseburgers. Did they think we wouldn't notice? Avoid this place at all costs. No doubt this Lamrock will be closed shortly like the last Lamrock.
Wow this place must be paying through the nose in rent as its definitely passed onto the food prices but what they managed to leave out was the quality of the food. Services was great the girls were on the ball and no complaints there, the food, however, was probably just as and probably will go down, the previous cafe did but faster, the new owners must be non local as the tables outside are a tight squeeze, more on the food.
The food came out burnt, tasteless, I had ingredients left from my Lamburger like half of it. There seemed to be arguing of foreign language when we complained and when issue was brought up it was explained 'thats how we do things here' As for the rave coffee reviews previously well the coffee came out burnt, not silky and very low on the head. I've made better coffees at home. Please let the Lamrock go peacefully and stop beating a dead horse.
Unbelievable that a cafe located in such a great location could offer such mediocre food and service. Asked for a lemon lime and bitters and they didn't have that. Drinks took for ever to be delivered. The sandwich I had was basic to say the least. They have obviously rationed out the tomato and lettuce to ensure not one single morsel extra was added. Tasteless, bland and expensive. Never again.
I went to the Lamrock with a group of friends about a week ago, I had been there before when it was the previous owners and it wasn't good at all so I heard that its under new management and it only recently was re opened. So me and my friends went 2 weeks ago on a sunday it was a beautiful day. We were lucky to have a table outside as it was very busy. The waitress was very polite and helping, we started off with the coffee and may I say that the coffee was excellent I think I had about 4 or 5.
Then when we got the food, the food looked yummy and it even tasted great. We even spoke to the manager and told him congratulations for his new shop and that he has done a great job and to not let anyone put him down because it is new and it will pick up even more as the days go on, he was very nice. It was a very good experience and I will be going there again very soon. They've done an excellent job with the Lamrock Cafe.
My husband and I had breakfast at Lamrock last Sunday. We had heard bad reviews about the last owners, so were interested to see how the new management faired.
It was very busy, not an empty table in sight. It was a beautiful day and were lucky to get a table outside. Considering how packed it was, we were expecting to wait a bit, but didn't mind as we were in no rush and enjoyed the ambience and nice views. The manager apologised in advance when seating us about the possible wait which was nice of him, but in the end there was no need as it was within standard waiting time, I've waited longer elsewhere with less people!
I had the bacon and egg burger and my husband had the big breakfast. Everything was very tasty and fresh. The food the surrounding tables were receiving looked yummy too. The coffee for me was a highlight, as I can honestly say it was one of the nicest tasting coffees I've had in ages. Hats off to the barista and of course the manager for choosing the coffee brand (I forgot to ask what coffee they used for future reference!).
I'm not a local but would definitely travel to Bondi again just to visit this place, especially for the coffee (sorry I can't rave enough about the coffee haha).
I am a Bondi local and have lived here quite a while, while I normally avoid places on Campbell Parade I was with some friends and decided to try the Lamrock Café as it has recently been taken over and was hoping it would, perhaps, change my view of food on the parade. Sadly I was very disappointed.
Firstly the place is grossly over priced when 3 of us order the burgers, which were around $20 each I was expecting something good and gourmet for this price. This was very far from the case. Firstly the bun was old, cheap and stale. My friends and my burger was missing lettuce, cheese, tomato and the bacon. My other friend’s burger was missing pineapple, bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato.
It was just appalling, when I told the waitress she brought back my burger with a Kraft cheese slice on it! This place is a classic example of someone trying to run a business with minimal effort at maximal profit. The food is prepared with the cheapest ingredients and as little put on as possible (hence one tiny slice of avocado on my avocado burger) and it is completely over priced.
You can go 3 shops up the road to a bar and get one there for half the price and 100 times the flavour and presentation. This place is just another example of Bondi Beach restaurants where they assume most customers are tourists and, therefore, will not be returning anyway so why not just rip them off. Unfortunate we are locals and will never be returning nor recommending it.
I will say that we got a full refund from the manager when we complained but it did not make up for the appalling food. This café will go the exact same way as the last one did, bomb out in 3 months as word gets around how bad unless they pull there socks up big time in the food department and drop their prices. It is a shame as it has a fantastic location.
We went to the Lamrock for breakfast on the 16th August, against our better judgement. We had hoped that service and food had improved since our last visit nearly 3 years ago. It was not to be. The waiting staff seemed to be confused, stating they were serving us a flat white and a cappuccino when in fact they served us a mocha and chai tea!
This was followed by a very poor serving of scrambled eggs, with so-called toast (which was poor quality white sourdough, untoasted and soggy). The pancakes were more like sponge cakes and the eggs benedict came with hardly any sauce and untoasted toast. It’s quite clear that the staff have no experience, including the chef and management (if they exist at all)!
Had a meal today during the city to surf, it is under new ownership I was told by the very friendly staff. It was full house for the entire time I was there. I ordered the chicken tortellini with mushroom sauce and my wife ordered the classic burger. We had a bottle of savi also which was quite lovely. We were told the food was going to be a half an hour wait which was quite understandable. After a good half hour wait our meals came out and I must say it was worth the wait. The pasta was fresh and creamy and the burger was beautiful I was told. Well done Lamrock Compliments to the chef.
We went there for breakfast on Sunday at about 11.30 am. I used to live in Lamrock Ave. many years ago and I always liked to go back to the Lamrock Cafe. The cafe looked much run down. Nobody paid attention to us and we had to get up and ask for a menu.
Eventually we were able to order, a flat white which was more like brown milk instead of coffee and eggs benedict with salmon. The food came out within 10 minutes but it was such a disappointment. I had to apologise to my Melbourne friend for taking her to such a lousy place. When walking around Campbell Parade I noticed that other cafes were packed. It looks to me like the word has spread and the locals have abandoned the Lamrock Cafe. I will definitely not go back.
Went for breakfast on Sunday morning. i.e. yesterday. Initial impressions: old dirty menus, old sticky furniture, cutlery that hasn't been cleaned properly. I put up with this since I thought it wouldn't kill me.
Food wise, they didn't have the following: any kind of egg other than scrambled, sausages, mushrooms, ricotta cheese. Also, they only told us about lacking ingredients well after taking our order.
I had my big breakfast sans sausage, which was a poor effort. Undercooked bacon, bland scrambled egg and cold toast. Disappointing that years of poor reviews haven't put this cafe out of its misery. Avoid.
