About 20 of us dined here, we had the 3 course option for $50. At the conclusion of the meal, all agreed that they had consumed too much food! The portions are certainly very generous. The figs in pancetta dish was tasty although extraordinarily rich. Other people on the table seemed pretty happy with their large portion of salt & pepper squid.
As for dessert... I had a pannacotta topped with chocolate sauce and it was absolutely delicious. I plan to go back to sample this dessert again.
Dined here on Friday night, we had a table of 7, the service was lovely, very friendly staff. The food came out quickly. I had the zucchini flowers which where truly amazing, they were gorgeous to look at and tasted fantastic! One of our friends had the rabbit, he said it was one of the best meals he had ever eaten. Overall everybody in our party were more than impressed with the standard of food. I would recommend this place to anybody. BYO makes it extremely affordable. One of Newtowns best.
Had the braised rabbit which was great. My dining partner was expecting so the waitress, who was great, got the kitchen to adjust a dish to cut out certain cheeses. BYO makes this place excellent value.
Ate here before a late show at the Enmore and the restaurant was about half full but it was a weeknight. Depsite not being packed, the service was slow and a bit too casual. It took some pointed looks at who we assumed was the staff before we actually were served and even then it was by a waitress who seemed to be preoccupied with other things while taking our order.
We weren't too hungry so just shared a bruschetta for an entree - it was okay but the tomatoes were not the nicest (a sin as far as bruschetta goes) and we felt we could have made better ourselves at home. We both had pasta for main course - the duck ravioli and the fettuccine sambuca. The fettuccine had a bit too much alcohol in it and the ravioli was the highlight but again nothing to get excited about.
The desserts looked good on other people's tables but we settled for a far too strong coffee to finish off. Also - if you do come here BYO as the wines on the menu are ordinary quality and very overpriced. Doubt that we will be back in a hurry.
Went here before a show at the Enmore (they checked this with us at time of booking) the restaurant was booked out as it was a Saturday night. Service was efficient, food was really good. Have recommended this restaurant to others.
I was impressed with this place from the time I made the booking. When booking I was asked were we going to Enmore Theatre - 'Yes". We (five of us) arrived 45 minutes late (traffic from the northern beaches - we called to let them no "no problem").
We had 45 minutes to be in and out - we achieved this with 8 minutes to spare (all this and the place was busy with other theatre goers). One dish that was ordered took 25 minutes to cook, we were informed and accordingly chose a different dish.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delightful and well presented. A fautless experience. We'll go back next time at the "Enmore".
Service was great, prices were good but the food was a real let down. The duck ravioli was pre-made and quite old. It was tasteless and the 'butter and sage' sauce was actually water and some chopped tomatos. Disappointing. I had the figs wrapped in pancetta which was too rich but OK. I won't be going back.
Food was excellent, considering it was full and we had a show on, the service was tremendous. Friendly staff. For good food and great service, you can't go wrong .
An enjoyable evening. The gnocchi was very fine although very rich. We had a rocket and parmesan salad, and it was relatively small for 4 people. The staff were very friendly and accommodating although very busy. At times the noise was distracting. Certainly worth another visit. Next time I would probably check to see if there was a show at the Enmore Theatre which probably contributed to the full dining room.
Entrees, fried zucchini flowers with a delicious tomato sauce, fresh figs wrapped in pancetta with a creamy sauce. For main I had the duck ravioli with butter and sage sauce. All of it absolutely stunning. Desserts were lovely, the service was friendly and unpretentious.
