I have been going to La Bella Vista for eleven years normally I quite enjoy the experience I took my girlfriend there last night for her birthday we walked straight into the courtyard and my girlfriend took a seat. I needed to use the bathroom so I proceeded that way and the waitress said I could not use the bathroom, I told her I was a customer and she did not believe me until I had to physically show her.
I told her I was disgusted with the service and under her breath she said if you don't like it leave! We left and I have never been so insulted in my life, keep in mind I used to work there and know that they use to service 120-150 people a night and 250-300 on the weekends there was two people aside from us last night I wonder why! I will never go there again and will tell as many people prepared to listen about what a low joint this has become.
I agree wholeheartedly with Lucim's review. A restaurant's food is only as good as it's chef! Asking $40 for a steak that is no more than BBQ'd is outrageous. My partner's pasta was swollen beyond belief and the sauce was tasteless. Unenjoyable experience all round. Won't be back.
My suggestion is to start with a new chef! If the food is nice, people won't mind paying for good quality. To be honest I've had better meals at mcdonalds then I did the other night. Good luck.
Ate here as part of a group of 8. Poor quality Italian food and ridiculous prices. I had the steak which was ok, but at nearly $40.00 you can do so much better elsewhere. Service nothing special.
Just goes to show that you can't judge a book by its cover. Quite a nice environment, spoiled by lacklustre, overcooked and overpriced food. Won't be back.
One of the worst restaurants out there. Food is just terrible and not Italian at all. I don't understand how come they aren't Italians and they displayng big Italian flags all around the shop...........this is not only a rip of, it is a joke. Service was also disappointing and not professional at all and I didn't like the ambience either. Definitely not recommended.
Went for a late lunch. The lack of customers meant that one of the wait staff was pacing around the room, which was pretty annoying. Their cannelloni was fabulous, and an entree size was plenty for lunch. Pity about the $9 side salad that was drowned in dressing & came with barely recognisable tomatoes, not Romas as touted in the menu. Fresh, ripe tomatoes is one thing Italian restaurants should get right. Overall, $30 for lunch (incl. bottled water) was not very good value particularly when there are equally good restaurants around the corner, for less $.
Went there last week for dinner and that was not pleasant at all. The place looked new and clean and that was the only nice thing. Won't go back again.
We parked in Phillip Street at six 15 and having to get to the Riverside for a 7:20 pm for a show, we needed fuel - fast. We were sick of the glitz and indifference of most of the places on Church Street so we walked accross the road and into this place.
We explained our time constraint and they promised us that they would deliver. And they did. Two beautiful risotto dishes arrived in good time for us to eat them calmly and contemplatively, have a cup of adequate coffee and arrive at the theatre before the chimes.
The service was efficient and kindly. We will go back there when we have more time to really suss it out.
