I dine in this little slice of heaven each time I am in Sydney. It has the most Authentic Sicilian fare outside of Sicily that I have ever tasted. The menus changes daily and is dependant on whatever is fresh in the market, just as in Sicily. Seafood, Salad's and authentic pasta dishes like 'Alla Norma' are the backbone of the menu in this cosy little restaurant. The chef and the staff are Sicilian, and this heritage shows throughout the restaurant. Highly recommended.

Having heard many positive things on the grapevine about La Vucciria, my partner and I decided to try it out for ourselves last night. It definitely lived up to the hype! While our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, the friendly service and offer of seats at the bar with a fabulously authentic Italian cocktail list more than made up for it. Our cocktails were fresh and original and served very quickly.

La Vucciria’s menu changes depending on what is fresh and in season so it is in chalk on the wall. The waiter was more than able to explain all of the different dishes to us and happy to answer any questions we had. We started with the tuna polpette and the bacalao croquettes. Both came out very promptly and were absolutely delicious. I had never had a tuna meatball before and I will now look for it on menus!

The flavour of the tuna balanced beautifully with the tomato sauce. The croquettes were also fantastic. For mains I had the veal which was by far the tastiest veal dish I’ve ever eaten. My partner had the oven baked chicken which was beautifully moist and came with perfectly roasted potatoes and pumpkin. We each had a glass of the Montepulciano which went perfectly with our mains.

For dessert we went for the chocolate crepes which we had heard so much about. We shared it, but I honestly could have eaten one to myself, the chocolate sauce on top was so beautiful. All in all a great authentic experience with very friendly and capable (if not perfectly polished) service.

Ever heard of a watermelon and vodka granita? Neither had I until I went to this Sicilian restaurant on Saturday night and had it for a refreshing palate cleanser style dessert. That was after we ate delicately stuffed zucchini flowers with creamy herb flavoured ricotta and delicious eggplant rolls followed by slow roasted Italian pork.

La Vucceria is so much more than your standard Italian restaurant!.. gorgeous mouthwatering sicilian dishes, by far the best flavours I have experienced in quite some time. We ate here at the weekend, and am still dreaming of the eggplant involtini, the lemon and orange marinated salmon and the most dangerously delectable peach tart.

The atmosphere is so refreshingly unpretentious, with friendly Italian staff and is comfortable, relaxed yet stylishly decorated. La Vucciria is an absolute must! Oh and bonus!...you can actually book here!

Absolutely amazing. This is by far the best Italian I've had outside of Italy. A noticeable number of the staff and clientele were Italian (or at least were speaking Italian). The food was incredible. The menu selection was not huge (which is actually a good sign), but there was at least one dish on the menu to please everyone. Even if it had been quite pricey, I would give it a excellent rating on the food itself. However, by Sydney standards, the prices were great. I will only reveal the disgusting amount my husband and I ate to prove the point. We ordered 2 cocktails, 1 bottle of wine, 2 appetizers, 2 main dishes, 1 desert, and 2 coffees and our bill came to about $150 AUD. We went to Nick's the following night (which we typically like) and it seemed over-priced and just not as good as we remembered. I can't wait to go back the next time I'm in Sydney!

Very pleasant small restaurant in and out of the way location. Food is not exactly your standard spag-bol Italian fare, but genuinely different regional specialties. Knowledgeable waiter, and a great wine selection.

We have visited this restaurant three times now since its inception. It has undergone a change in the fit-out since it opened creating an even better ambience. In particular, the front windows now extend to the ground creating a feeling of greater openness and space. The decor is modern and soothing, and there is an optimal distance between tables.

The Italian food served here is what Surry Hills has been waiting a long time for. It is very reminiscent of dining in Italy and has an authenticity seldom seen in Australia. While the menu selection is not large, the veal, fish and home-made pasta dishes we've tried have been absolutely superb. Accompanying salads are also very tasty and satisfying.

Staff are very helpful, provide good service and add to the feeling of Italian authenticity. This restaurant will probably become a favourite of ours, and I would highly recommend it.

What a find! Fantastic food. I can't remember the last time I was blown away by a Sydney restaurant. We had for starters a selection of scallops (perfect), involtini (out of this world), prosciutto with figs (perfect flavour blend).

For mains we had the veal (so tender) and black ink squid pasta (sublime). Every ingredient was fresh, even the side salad had me and my wife fighting over who would have the last olive! Staff were attentive and knowledgeable. The best Italian in Sydney by far. I hope that this restaurant maintains its emphasis on beautiful produce and totally authentic sicilian cuisine. We'll be back, and soon!

We walked past this restaurant and were unsure or not whether to enter, but the fact it serves regional Italian food, from Sicily got us through the door. To the bar first where we drank Italian cocktails negroni and spritz which were just as good as what we've ordered in Italian bars. Turns out stefano the barman used to make them in Milan.

Stayed on for the food and so glad we did, homemade delicious pasta with prawns and veal cutlet, tender tasty and served with tangy rocket and tomato. But the best part of the night was the dessert, sticky poached peaches and lemon ricotta cream, we'll be back for that dish for sure. Apparently the restaurant changes it's menu often but hopefully the peaches will stick around.
