We have eaten at this restaurant 2 nights in a row. Steak first night, paella second. Fabulous food and a good atmosphere.

Had birthday dinner at La Tapa Guapa last night. It was great. We were a party of 17 and there was plenty of food. 3 course banquet for $35 each and we had jugs of sangria and coke. "La Tapa Guapa" The pretty tapas. Fantastic night out. Def recommend. Credit to the chef and the wait staff for taking care of us.

We ordered a paella to share amongst three, whilst the other diner in our group ordered the 'sardines' special. You are warned via the printed menu that the paella takes 40 minutes. So, we wait and have a couple of drinks, no problems. The meals arrive, and the sardines were huge, looking suspiciously like herring or yellowtail though tasty nonetheless. The seafood version paella we chose was enjoyable, with half a blue swimmer, prawns, vongole, some mussels, canned oysters mixed through the rice - but no fish. Furthermore, we were dissappointed that it didn't have that crust of rice on the bottom of the pan that a wonderful paella is renowned for. Yep, we did enjoy our meal, but not sure whether it was that good we'd make a special effort to go here again.

This restaurant is attached to the Sir John Young Pub and was previously known as the Spanish Galeria and was famous for its Paella for almost 30 years when I frequented it often in my working life in the city.
Feeling nostalgic, I took 3 friends to revisit this busy, bustling ambiance and was impressed that they still serve the best Seafood Payella in the area. Evenly cooked rice with just the right spice, colour and flavour balance with a good selection of quality seafood to match. A paella for 2 easily feeds 3 without breaking the bank and the waitress was prompt, attentive and knowledgeable of all menu products - a refreshing change indeed. Will definitely return.

We had some tapas to start with and a seafood paella. It was the best experience we had on that street for a long time. Tapas dishes were very affordable and fast (we could watch them cook it infront of our eyes as everything was getting cooked to order). Tortilla took abit long but it was cooked to order. Paella had so much seafood and lots of flavour it was my wifes birthday so they offered us dessert on the house which was very nice of the management and the waitresses deserved every cent of our tip. Will go back there regularly.
