I went there a couple of times with friends for the all-you-can-eat $20.00 and on the third time, the senior staffs started with excuses of "No Chicken available" for the all you can eat suggesting that we can only order from their menu at full prices. After some wrangling, they caved in but they became a little hostile towards us.
Then a couple of weeks later, again the same problem forcing us to choose from the main menu and not the all you can eat because again (surprise) no chicken available (this is at 6.30 pm when they opened at 5.30 pm). Anyway, this time the senior staffs were very hostile and deliberately took their time with serving the all you can eat food.
In other words, we had 2 dishes over 2 hours and this was on a Wed night. In short, they want to lure you there with their sweetener of $20 all you can eat but if you start going there often, they don't like it and force hell upon you. I will not be going there again. Simply put, if you advertise all you can eat for $20 then you must honor what you advertise and not become hostile and argue with customers who don't want to go onto the full price menu. Disgraceful behavior.
Excellent meat dishes, good desserts, and no complaints about the service at all. Left feeling very full. My only criticism is that the restaurant could have a better range of beers on offer, and that they could provide better coffee! Other than that, I was very pleased with my evening at La Parrillada.
La Parrillada is a warm, simple and friendly place with fantastic food and service.
I have been here several times over the last few years, generally with large groups as the value is exceptional! If you want no fuss service with food such as delicious meats, great sides, the chips are so morish even though this place is meat central(!!) and the chorizos, breads and sauces are all fantastic accompaniments. Don't forget the sangrias too!
I love this place. Hard to find this kind of value with the great (and plentiful) food on offer and consistent service with a warm family feel. For a great night out, especially with a large group of family and friends, check this place out.
Excellent value, food is extremely tasty! What more do you need or want? We also love looking at the various South American decorations on display everytime we go we seem to find something new!
Went here on a Thursday night for their $19.90 all you can eat. Meat is slightly too salty, chicken is way salty. I'm assuming this is to get you thirsty to buy their over-priced drinks, I knew there had to be a catch. But there was plenty of food for the 5 of us and my brother took the rest home. Make sure you ask for more sauce to eat the meat.
Comes with free salad and chips, but I wouldn't have paid for them anyway, iceberg lettuce salad, really? Sangria is average. Good for what you're paying for
good food for a lunch after a big night.
Went to La Parrillada last night with BF for dinner. Had initially wanted portuguese chicken in Petersham, but was closed. We had the 1.5 kg meat for 2 pple for $59.95. It comes with a side of simple (but tasty) salad, a bowl of chips and some nice sauces.
The waitress brought out baby chorizos and hot crusty bread as a starter (free). They were very nice. Not too salty, beautiful with the sauces. When our meats came out, we thought we could finish the whole lot, but we couldn't. The portion was quite generous and vast array of meats from sirloin to chops to lamb cutlets. No chicken though, but that didn't ruin the meal.
We were quite satisfied. The waitress was very nice. The lady owner could be a bit more genuine in terms of her greetings, but it was not big deal as she gave us each a shot of port at the end of the night to help with digestion.
All in all it was a nice cozy place to have dinner. Will definitely return with friends.
Total cost at the end of the night was $70.30 ($35.15 ea) including drinks.
Delicious steaks (beef, chicken), south american meals. You can feel the difference. I have been to this fine establishment four times and each time I have found it to be well run and excellent value for money!
We went for the meat, and meat we got. The sauces make up for the lack of dressing on the meat, especially the spicy sauce. The service was great and the atmosphere very homey. We tried all the different drinks and loved the Pisco Sour Cocktails! Definitely worth the trip for the $19.90 all you can eat meat!
Went to La Parrillada on Thursday night for the $19.90 all you can eat deal. My girlfriend and I aren't big eaters but it seemed like good value and a chance to try the restaurant. The place was about half full, and while the decor was a bit tacky it seemed friendly enough and I felt comfortable.
We ordered a jug of sangria and the all you can eat for two. The sangria came out fairly quickly, however, after 45 minutes the only food we had received was 4 tiny chorizo sausages and 3 bread rolls. Eventually we got our meat platter, along with chips and salad (it was one of the most basic salads I have ever had at a restaurant). The meat is basically like what you'd get a friend's bbq on a big plate. I found the food very mediocre, and the meat was very salty, particularly the chicken.
One of the most alarming things about La Parrillada is the bench outside the kitchen. The waitresses put dirty plates on there and clean them off into a bin below, but also leave food up there after it comes out of the kitchen, particularly the salads which seem to stay up there for an eternity before they are served. At one stage I saw a waitress wipe down the bench, then put bread rolls into an oven to heat them up before serving them without washing her hands. All these sort of practices are in full view of most of the restaurant. It's a worry if you ask me.
To be honest I was relieved when I finally left the restaurant, what started out promisingly ended with me wondering why I ever walked in the door. I won't be going back.
If you are going out for meat and you don't need a flashy/trendy restaurant, then la parillada is a good choice. Plenty of meat on the platters and well cooked. The chicken was overcooked and a bit dry. The entrees could use some work, but the meat platter makes up for it.
