An improvement somewhat from last time we went (not by choice) I could just go there to eat the empanadas and go home. I see it more like a take away really.

I don't usually write reviews but I had to for this restaurant. I am Colombian and I hated this place, the food tastes nothing like real Colombian food, its plain and simple. And the vibe isn't very Colombian either. No music or dancing or friendly smiles.

Its really disappointing and sad that this is the only option for Colombian food. I love and miss Colombian food and Colombian culture and its so disappointing that this is the only "Colombian" thing in Sydney. And its no way near real authentic Colombian anything!

We got take-away for lunch at the office, so I can't really comment on the ambience! I ordered over the phone, and the guy explained the $7.50 specials. They were ready to go when we went to pick them up, in sooo much packaging! He had described the special as crispy pork, with rice, egg and beans. When I said I was vegetarian he said he'd do one with avocado.

While we were picking them up, my colleague saw some interesting looking buns, which we were told were stuffed with cheese and bacon, so she bought two. When we unpacked back at the office, we found that for all the boxes there wasn't so much food (though certainly plenty for lunch). The rice was rice. The pork was mostly fat. The egg was fried and meh. My promised avocado was missing with a fried banana in its place. There were also these fried rice starch cake things that were the blandest thing you've ever tasted. The beans were the best thing, and they were average.

There really was very little flavour in any of it! Just.... bland. And then the 'cheese and bacon' turned out to be this odd sort of cheese-like doughy centre. No-one is keen to go again! Shame, the man certainly acted friendly and accommodating!

To anyone interested to go to this restaurant please do not waste your time, money and more important risk your health! We went to get some empanadas and cocadas copelia (caramel slice). On the way to the car my husband started eating one of the cocadas, he said it tasted strange, I tried it and it was off, it tasted horrible. When I looked at the expiry date on the package, you couldn't read it in most of them has been scratched. The ones I could read were from 2008!

To make things worst I went back to tell them (senior staff) and the lady asked me "what do you want me to do?", I asked for my money back and she snatched them from my hand and put them back on the jar!

This was a pretty disappointing experience. The empanadas hardly had any flavour. The Tamales were really heavy and quite bland too. The Bandeja Paisa was very dry (but that is maybe the way it is supposed to be?). I went on a Tuesday and there was only one other couple in the restaurant. So yes Tuesdays are never busy nights but a good restaurant will always have a decent amount of customers on a Tuesday.

On the bright side their fruit juices were good and they have a good selection of Colombian soft drinks. This place is definitely the place to go to if you want to stock up on Latin American products but I wouldn't waste my time/money to have dinner there another time.

It's a good place to buy colombian products but when it comes to food and service there's a lot to be desired, the food isn't bad but it doesn't have that WOW factor. Its too expensive for what they serve you.

The staff were very vague and had no idea but the food was perfect and left very satisfied. La Cumbia Colombian captures the true essence of Colombian food and was very much a cultural experience. Can’t wait to back again. Make sure you book.

Food wise is not so great, it has lowered the quality by a lot. I used to recommend this place for empanadas, buñuelos, pan de bonos but two week ago I went there and bought these itmes, and now I have no reason to go back there. Thumbs down.

I always go here whenever I feel like sangria! This restaurant used to be my favorite place when it was under the old management (acapulco), I went here nearly every week for their chicken burito and combination nachos, however, since they changed management to La Cumbia, the food is not so great anymore, but still I will recommend this restaurant if you love sangria.
