We dined here using a voucher and were very impressed with the attentive service. The pizza and pasta were very good and we were impressed with value.

Visited this restaurant on a Saturday Night and used 2 scoopons, very disappointed with overall experience. The seafood pizza consisted of a base and sauce with a tiny ring of calamari on each slice, one extremely dehydrated mussel and 2 tiny prawns.

The service was polite but on asking our waiter if the red wine was dry or sweet...he said "I don't know", and that was the end of that conversation, will not be returning.

Very tired in its menu, food and service. There is no excuse for using canned asparagus on the veal. They are trading on their old reputation and desparately need to update. I was asked twice if I was "groupon" I wasn't, but not sure what that meant. I hope "groupons" don't get worse food and service then we got.

Our big mistake was not to order the pizza. They looked and smelt great. Hence, most likely the source of the better reviews. Our portions were small and the vegs for two was one small potato cut into smaller pieces and a few peas. Won't return.

Dined here on saturday night, I had a Scoopon voucher for 2 large pizzas and two beers. Given my previous dealings with Scoopon vouchers I had a low expectation of this place, however, to me and my partners delight the food and service was excellent. The pizza's were amazing, just the way I like it, thin base and a only a few fresh ingredients. You have to try the "Red Head", nice and spicy!

The waiters were excellent and always attentive, even though the place was packed. Thoroughly enjoyed it, I'll be back here with some friends in tow. This is why restaurants who sign up with group deals websites should go out of their way to impress customers, it guarantees repeat business!

We bought the voucher for $39.00, the deal included a bottle of wine, and starter, pasta or pizza.

I was surprised about the quality of the food. The ingredients were very fresh and the cheese and olive on our salad were extremely tasty. We are very happy with the food quality, the pizza cooked exactly what I like. But I think if you are in a hurry to go after the meal, maybe need to let them know earlier. The services was a bit slow but you can tell they were trying very hard.

I saw there was a big clear glass fridge inside of the restaurant with a lot of seafood, I'll try their seafood next time.

Dined here last night using a scoopon, 1 large pizza and a beer each, Wow what great value. The service was outstanding, the waiters were Italian and very quick and attentive (cute also). The ingredients were fresh and delicious. The pizza base was thin crispy and perfect. Traditionally baked in a wood fire oven. Excellent food, excellent service, fantastic price, will definitely be back again.

Used a Scoopon voucher, 2 large pizzas and a glass of wine, beer or softdrink for $19. Fantastic deal and great pizzas. You couldn't ask for a better deal for the size. 13 inch Sasha (Funghi) pizza and a giant Calzone filled with ricotta, spinach and ham topped with tomato and parmesan. Couldn't have made a pizza at home for $19!

Will definitely be back even without a voucher!

I have been to La Botte D'oro 3 times in the past 12 months. Once with a Scoopon, once with the Entertainment Book Card and most recently just before Christmas where we paid full price. I must say that each visit has given consistent quality of service and consistent quality of food. It has the good old-fashioned trattoria style food, none of this teeny bit of food in the middle of a white plate the size of a car wheel.

Every time we go we say that we must come back soon because it is well worth regular visits. My experience at this restaurant is that the food is terrific and the staff have always been great. Corkage is very reasonable too. Yum, dreaming of their scallopine parmigiana again.

The quality of the food is excellent: Everything is fresh and tasty and I’m prepared to bet that only the best quality ingredients are used. However, we had a problem with the slowness of the service and the smallness of the portions and for that reason we won’t be rushing back.

This place has been around for a long time because I recall dining here in the 80’s. And because of its longevity in this competitive marketplace, I was expecting something special but we were underwhelmed.

When we booked midweek, we were advised that only 6.00 pm and 8.00 pm timeslots were available and that only added to the feeling of expectation. But when we arrived just before 8.00 pm on a Sat eve, it was only about 60% full.

It’s a large place with three sections: an upper, middle and lower. We asked for, and got a table in the upper section. Floors are stone, which meant that the noise from a family of diners with a couple of obnoxious kids in tow was amplified throughout the restaurant (I can’t wait for a kids-free restaurant to open in Syd and we’ll be the first to eat there).

Decor is bright and homely with white washed walls and crisp fresh napery. We sat facing the large windows which gives you a nice outlook onto Marian Street.

The night we dined they only had the Peroni Italian beer despite the menu offering a few more varieties. But the Peroni turned out to be a decent drop and I’m glad that I had the op to try it!

We started the food part of the eve with two serves of bruschetta and a small salad of rocket and cheese. The bruschetta was crispy and the tomato was soaked in a tangy sauce. Portions were small but they went down well. For mains I had the pepper steak. On the plus side, it was well cooked just the way I like it, but still tender and the pepper sauce was the tastiest ever. On the neg side, the portion was small and it came with...nothing! Perhaps, it was our fault for not asking and the menu does simply say “pepper steak” - but one normally expects some accompaniment, which we didn’t get.

My wife had the grilled Atlantic salmon and the same comments apply. The dish was excellent but too small and with no accompaniment. For four of us, one small plate of vegetables was delivered to our table but that was hardly enough.

Because we were all still hungry after our meals, we ordered two desserts: tiramisu and panna cotta. The tiramisu was rich and creamy with a crunchy biscuity base soaked in liqueur. Not sure how the arteries liked that but we finished it off in no time.

We our Entertainment Book card (one free meal up to max $35, we paid a tad under $140 for four. That included two beers and two soft drinks, two serves of bruschetta and a small salad, four mains, two desserts, two coffees and corkage. So at $40 a head that’s fair value.

Toilets are easy to find but a bit squalid and dirty. We struggled to find a parking, eventually driving half way down Flood Street before finding anything.

Service was polite and friendly but, as mentioned, somewhat on the slow side.
Overall, whilst the food was undoubtedly of the best quality, the slow service and small portions let us down.

First timers at this restaurant and were very pleasntly surprised. Of the old fashioned style that includes bread, vegetables and complimentary olives without being ordered. We had 3 entrees plus a salad between two and it was plenty of food, and very good quality (hubby very happy with the garlic prawns). Wine selections are a bit on the pricey side, but all in all we were impressed and would dine there again.
