The food is good and there's lots of variety, and value is great. Dishes are very reasonably priced. It's clean, efficient, but the upstairs seating can be a bit echo-ey when there are lots of people, some say vibrant. A good casual choice for good value Japanese.

I've been going to Kura for many years, and their food is always consistently good. Karaage and takoyaki is great, especially with the Kupe Mayo. A favourite of mine. A bit small ambience wise, but it's all eat-and-go in Kura.

I ate lunch here on a Sunday afternoon in their upstairs section and was very pleased with my vegetarian tofu teriyaki (served with orange dressed salad, miso soup, and rice) for a bargain $8.90. My partner order a deluxe don and his meal was huge and also excellent value.

The service was a little confused at times (in addition to our dishes we received another table's dishes by mistake) but they were extremely polite, friendly and any mistakes were quickly fixed. I will definitely be back. Thanks Kura!

I love this place! Casual dining. It's quick and you get what you pay for. One of my favourite casual dining places.

Stumbled upon this place while looking for another restaurant so thought we would give it a go. We were very pleasantly surprise. The service was excellent and the food was delivered promptly. The restaurant was buzzing with activity, decorated pleasantly and overall was a really good value dining experience for a quick bite. I had the Curry Udon which was delicious! Love it!

I came for a late lunch last Sunday 12 Feb with a newly arrived Japanese friend. She had a salmon and rice dish and I had the sashimi combination, both came with miso soup. It was fresh and tasty and my friend said she enjoyed it so I guess it must be good. Service was fast and efficient. Would definitely return and have no hesitation in recommending. Come later to avoid the claustrophobic atmosphere.

Great value cheap and fulfilling! I love this little place, I usually get the karaage and takoyaki and I only spend about $14 this includes miso soup, rice, salad, 12-14 balls of takoyaki with heaps of the dried fish flakes and dressing. As well as loads of chilled table water.

I usually go to the new kura near dixon centre. (with the pool place and ceo kae) its just down that alley. Near this weird turn. Sort of isolated but a definite seat compared to the other one across from paddies market.

This little corner shop is a great place to have lunch or even dinner, I've had a number of the dishes and always thoroughly enjoy them. I usually grab take away takoyaki nowadays but my personal favourites are the gyu and katsu dons and the tsukune set. I always leave this place full, it's small but it has a very nice environment and it's great value too.

Kura is probably the smallest Japanese restaurant I've ever eaten in with a maximum seating capacity of around 12 people within an area the size of a bathroom. Eating in means crowded in and claustrophobic so for those who wish to try kura out of curiosity, it's probably better to just get take away.

Staff were very organised and asked us to pre-order before we sat down inside to make the duration of stay shorter so the next customers waiting can be seated as soon as we have our last spoonful of food. I felt rushed by the head waitress (perhaps the owner?) as she kept watching me like a hawk to check how much I had left in my bowl.

We tried the gyoza and karaage chicken and seaweed salad as well as the little fish shaped pancakes for dessert with green tea ice cream. The gyoza was disappointing as I realised they use pre-packed frozen dumplings, dip them in batter and deep fry them - not like other places which hand make gyoza with fresh ingredients making the taste to much lighter and fresh. Both the gyoza and chicken had that "old oil" taste which spoilt the flavour of our meal.

The fish shaped pancakes filled with red bean were absolutely delicious and would probably be the only thing i recommend from Kura. Give the green tea ice cream a miss. Very crude in flavour and just not up to scratch. Kura is cheap, but not spectacular in terms of quality and flavour.
