I went here with a friend on a friday night. The drinks are excellent but that's the only thing they had going for them. The atmosphere was really bad. My friend and I were constantly hassled and interrupted by people who had been served way too much alcohol. People were dresses sloppy and there were alot of people who were fresh out of high school and believe it or not they were playing 'leap frog' and screaming on top of their lungs. Their was no security at all and the bar staff were struggling to control people. It was a really bad night and not relaxing at all.
I thought the cocktails were quite expensive, I guess I should have went during happy hour. I went in the afternoon, the place was quite dead. Great drinks though.
A very popular (read: crowded) bar with uni students on account of the 2 for 1 cocktail happy hour. This can be a little off-putting but if you go to the second floor bar there's a guy that makes fantastic and delicious cocktail creations that are definitely more interesting than Long Island Iced Teas. His technique is fascinating to watch too!
Great value drinks, good service and fantastic setting which is perfect for catching up with friends. The menu has a strong focus on sugary and syrupy cocktails though.
If you can fight your way to the bar the service is prompt but impersonal, the cocktails are delicious and great value during happy hour! This is an awesome place to grab an after-movie drink with friends. Try the Red Corvettes and the Long Island Iced Teas are lethal.
+ Very tasty 2-4-1 cocktails. I recommend the Honeycomb, Toblerone, Red Corvette and Long Islands. Most cocktails are in smallish 'whisky' glasses, except for the Red Corvette or Long Island. We had these ones just as the hour ended since they last forever. We were knocking the drinks back as a social but reasonable pace but everyone found that the alcohol content was weak, maybe these are half nips?
A few cocktails no one wanted to finish. Avoid the (forgotten the name here) the milky Sambuca cocktail too since it's mouthwash-flavoured. The speakers really blaring for a cocktail hour and forcing everyone to yell. The girls thought the bartenders were hot enough to position their seats for the view. Seating gets really cramped and dingy towards the back.
Went to Kuletos for a couple of cocktails on Friday night. Lined up like sheep for about 20 minutes to get served. Cocktails were less then average. Poor choices available, seemed like everything on the cocktail list was just a mixture of spirits and soft drinks or bottled juice. Prices are cheap and so is the interior of this small over crowded venue. I won't be returning here, but I suppose this place is good for cheap drinks if thats all you're after.
We're still stunningly amazed that they shelled out to renovate this place. We've been drinking here since we first moved to Sydney; we christened the place or lost our virginity one fair day when we discovered that they had two for one Long Island Iced Teas...that was the beginning of a love/hate relationship with this place.
The renovation is ok...just ok. It aint Melbourne as some people said and in its previous dingy state it definitely had more character (think barons only brighter) but the cocktails are still well mixed and cheap (especially on student night).
Kuleto`s seems to have that Melbourne feel, can't find that in Sydney, the staff are very quick and make you feel relaxed. The new renovation look great, looking fwd to the upstairs bar opening. Great nite out, get in early so you can get a seat.
Happy hour is the best here. Amazing cocktails, tried most of them by now and don't have a problem with any of them. And I luv my cocktails. Agree that the decor especially the chairs in the back need to be changed etc.
