Great place for lunch. I had a Laksa and beef sate. Laksa was one of the best in Sydney and the sate was great, except the peanut sauce was insipid. I've been there a few times now and will definitely go back.

This local restaurant probably suits the many students in the area rather than someone wanting a reasonably good dining experience. There is no ambience but it is the food and service that really counts. Unfortunately, the only waitress failed to give even a hint of a smile. A smile would have doubled the service rating given. She was fast, helpful and polite but remained stoned face the entire time even when delivering the food. A smile would have gone a long way on a quiet Saturday night.

The beef curry was okay but we had to remove too much excess oil from the dish before eating it. Food here is not as good as another outlet of theirs in Croydon (which is brilliant on All levels). The rice serving was large. The deep fried sambal fish was very disappointing. Tiny bits of fish covered with too much batter. It was hard to see the fish. Disappointing.

Finally got to visit this place after many drive bys but had mixed feelings afterwards. Signs celebrating the best Laksa in Sydney encouraged us to order along with Rendang and Roti Canai.

The rendang affirmed my long development of my home made recipe, very much to my taste. Roti Canai was a treat. The Chicken Laksa was not really to our taste, it's a personal thing but I prefer spicier and the potatoes were unexpected and so, perhaps, weirded me out. It might be just your thing but didn't work for me (apologies if this is your favourite style!).

Ambience is as good as anyone has a right to expect given it's location on a busy throughfare and the staff were friendly and efficient (and eating Hokkien chicken when we arrived so, perhaps, that's what we should have ordered! Very good value for money.

Great malaysian, the roti chanai is good and cheap, the curry sauce is excellent! teh tarik tasty! Will definitely be back to try the kuay teow as per below reviewers suggestion. Only downside is the communal big round tables which can get awkward if you get stuck sitting here. They should throw those out and just put in more square tables, even better get a refurb! but doubt that will happen anytime soon.

New Review: went here 2 weeks ago and had the chicken curry, roti and the malacca cendol, I am in Love with the chicken curry especially and will order this every time I come here now! cendol was excellent too! Looking forward to trying the Loh See Fun next time i go.

Best laksa in town. I've been going there for close to 8 etars and the quality has been consistent. Its cheap, basic and great value for money. Peter and staff always provide a fast service. Book meals ahead for even faster service.

Very average "restaurant" with below average food. Servings are small and over priced and the quality akin to a frozen "lean cuisine" being reheated. Don't understand the positive reviews of this place as the food really is of sub standard quality even for a no fuss asian eatery. Would I go back - no.

Must try the Char Kwei Tiaw. It's the most authentic in Sydney. Very tasty and flavorful. The sambal is to die for. The laksa is also one of the best in Sydney I have tried so far and believe me, I've tried many. Who cares about the decor and the service. Good price, good portion, tasty food, and the free parking (in the evening) outside is a huge bonus for us. Highly recommended.

A good place for a fairly cheap meal. Very busy at lunch time so it took a while for our dishes to come out. However the portions are decent and very reasonably priced. The decor and service is typical of most cheaper Asian restaurants.

Always managed a quick feed at Kopitiam. Was always a great place to grab lunch whilst running back to work. I always enjoy the Hainan chicken rice or a curry.
This is not some fine dining joint. If you want a comfort rice or curry dish, totally the place to go.

My partner and I are Kopitiam regulars - we eat here about once a fornight - we love it! Sure, it's not 5 star dining but that's not what we go there for. It's a great little find, a real hole-in-the-wall Malaysian restaurant with yummy, authentic food that is consistently of the same standard every time we go (as opposed to some places that are great one night and bad the next). Yes, the restaurant is shabby and yes, the food doesn't always come out in the right order and yes, the service can be non-existent. But when the food is this good, who cares.
