KL Kitchen is my favorite place for lunch, a little hidden gem in the Cross. I work down the road and frequently enjoy Irene's great cooking having discovered the place about a year ago. I have introduced my friends and family to the restaurant and everyone agrees that the dishes are delicious. My favorite dishes are Wonton noodle soup and Chow Kwai Teow.

Love the dim sums and the especially Mama's curries and the roast duck. I definitely recommend this little hidden gem for a great meal at reasonable prices. Lily always provides great service with a smile and advice on dishes to try. Try it.

KL Kitchen supplied our monthly office lunch in September. It was absolutely delicious and exceeded my expectations. Jamie and co. did a fantastic job!

This is a great little restaurant in my neighbourhood. I ignored it for years and I hadn’t. The service is friendly and you are greeted as soon as you walk in the door. If the dishes are unfamiliar the owner takes the time to explain them to you and make recommendations based on what you’re already familiar with.

The space is small and the decor is no fuss. Highlights are the on-trend ambient music and the soft lighting. More offbeat are the hanging lanterns and the lettering with the restaurant name on the wall. Check out the ink drawing of a prawn next to the counter done by a local artist and you have a weird combination which somehow all works.

The food at this place makes you realise how the classic "boring" dishes got so popular in the first place. The beef randang is subtly flavoured and delicious - they use decent cuts of beef slow-cooked till tender, instead of the usual fatty cuts over-cooked until horribly dry. Other classics like salt and pepper squid, nasi goreng, and crispy skin chicken are all good picks. On a separate menu is a range of dumplings steamed to order on pots right by the front door.

The wine list is a nice bonus. The selection is small, but the quality is high. They work well with the food and are available by the glass. Its a nice change from the usual cheap and nasty stuff that seems to go hand in hand with asian food.

The prices are reasonable but not cheap. Between the two of us, 3 dishes with rice and a glass of wine each came to $65 all up. You can get it all cheaper out in the burbs, but then you get all the normal delights that go with that (think fluoro lights, Singapore-pop, half cleaned greasy table, and the group next door on their 4th bottle of BYO Vino Collapso). KL Kitchen is a pleasant step up from that.

By accident for a quick dinner before attending a show. The food was beautiful and tasty. I like the eggplant and curry puff that was tasty. The staff was good service, especially the girl she was very friendly to recommend some food for me I like. I would like to come again next time.

Very oily, greasy, not well cooked. The roti were nearly inedible due to the amount of "marg" on them and they seem to be reheated!. Surprising really as there were some good looking dishes on some tables. Not recommended.

Food average, service average, for the price you pay you can get better Malaysian food elsewhere, not recommended.

What beautiful food! Happened upon this restaurant totally by accident for a quick dinner before attending a show at the Darlinghurst Theatre. What a find! The service was attentive, efficient and unassuming and the food was stunning! Salt and pepper squid has become an often found item on restaurant menus but the one we shared at KL Kitchen was beautiful with just the right amount of chilli and salt.

We loved this meal but it was completely blown away by one of the nicest things I have ever eaten, the deep-fried pork belly in honey and lemon. Oh my god! What a dish! The perfect balance of sweet and sour with beautifully cooked pork. A really perfect dish that will be a benchmark for me when judging food I consume in the future. (I know this sounds over the top but it was spectacular.) I can't wait to return to see how well they cook other dishes!

Very sweet family run business with good home cooking! everything I have tried here so far has been great (except the gado gado was terrible!). I love the fortnightly nasi lemak they have on offer, other great dishes so far are plum duck, ma po tofu and their home made chicken curry, you absolutely can't go past a fresh cooked roti with curry sauce. Oh and the eggplant sambal is to die for! Definitely a regular post-work easy dinner option. Lovely staff too.

An all round feel good eatery in Kings Cross/Potts Point area. Good tasty food, good value, friendly services in this fresh, pleasant contemporary environment. It's my hearty favourite to go back to time and time again.

Absolutely my favourite Family Malaysian Home Cooking restaurant, it's BYO, great fun and the food is fantastic. Several small 4/6 seat tables with simple no nonsense decor. The chef's is Irene and always offering new dishes. My favourite is the Eggplant sambal with octopus. Always tasty, always good value and always my favourite!
