In 2000, Kingsleys Steak & Crabhouse was opened on the finger wharf at Woolloomooloo to great success. It remains the flagship of the Kingsleys name and continues to provide the standards of quality in both food and service established by Kingsley Smith back in 1994. Attracting a mix of corporates, celebrities, athletes & local clientele, the waterfront location has a constant buzz. Featuring indoor & outdoor dining areas, as well as a Private Dining Room & a Mezzanine level, the restaurant suits functions of up to 24 people

I was brought to Kingsleys by my partner for my birthday last Tuesday night. The location of Wooloomooloo wharf was beautiful as always. We were shown to our table, and this was one of the only things I didn't like, we were advised to order our food very quickly as a function had arrived just minutes before us and were close to ordering and subsequently we could be waiting a long time for our food if we ordered after them.
I asked how long exactly and was told she couldn't imagine but it would be quite a while. I then panicked slightly as wanted more than 2 minutes to look at my menu.
Anyway, shortly after that another waitress came to our table and was very pleasant. She reassured me that I did not in fact have to worry about ordering quickly, that functions work differently and it would not affect the waiting time.
Apart from that hiccup, the night was lovely. We got a beautiful bottle of Tempranillo (highly recommended), I got the eye fillet and my partner got the rib-eye. Both were beautifully cooked. Sides we got, Raddichio, witlof, orange and balsamic (very nice but the orange could have been slightly sweeter), steakhouse chips (nice and fresh) and a Quail salad that was on the Specials list.
Overall a fantastic evening was had and the staff who served us all night were very polite and friendly.

I went to Kingsleys on Saturday night in a group of 10. Everyone on the table commented on what a fantastic place and what great food. The Alaskan crab legs were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The steaks were delicious as were all the different sides. We had an excellent Margaret River Chardonnay for $48 and a very good Heathcote Shiraz for around the same amount (a couple of bottles of each).
The staff were very helpful, turning on a heater when only one person was feeling the cold. The meals were out in good time. Cannot think of a single thing to whinge about. Overall a fantastic experience, we'll be back again.

A great value for money restaurant. Excellent location with a good standard of food. Friendly service, only slight fault was that the coffee could have been a little better.

This used to be a very good restaurant. Now it is an overpriced and very ordinary steakhouse. Our rib eyes seemed smaller than represented and poorly butchered and our fillet had a big sinew down the middle of it. All steaks are served on a plate with nothing else so it's $70 with a couple of sides.
Service was very slow, staff were rank novices, and it has the most expensive wine list ever, nothing decent under $100. It's nice on the wharf but not when you order at 830 and eat at 10 pm.

The service is something you would expect at an cheap diner, the chips were un-edible, after 1 hour 30 minutes we had to ask where is the main meal. This place needs a new senior staff and fast. For $40 all you get is a steak on a plate, very boring. Location is awesome, but try somewhere else for the same view.

Rib eye with Mooloolooba prawns was 20% gristle and very disappointing, especially at $48.90. The Steakhouse Chips weren't cooked properly, soft on the outside and half mushy half raw on the inside - perhaps, not fully defrosted?
Service was prompt and friendly, but not enough to make up for the disappointing steak.

After waiting 55 minutes for our main to receive a mistake for an exorbitant amount and must have been cooked by an amateur. The service was nothing special either. Hope the tourists are the target audience cause us locals would not support such lousy food.

Went there to celebrate my birthday and kind of regret it. The food was great, but the service just awful. There are way too better places in Wooloomooloo.

For entree we had the Garlic Butter Lobster and it was delicious. For mains we all had steak. It was average, but not outstanding. It is an expensive dinner out but I guess you pay for the location and the service as the service was excellent.

This is the first time ever that I've felt compelled to write a restaurant review. As a Sydney-sider, we all know there are some stunning restaurants around, and I consider that I have dined at some of the best. Happy to pay the big bucks, to have great chefs in town and memorable service. However, Kingsleys is not one of these restaurants, although you will pay the big bucks!
The prices are offensive, for what you get! The wait staff were absolutely brilliant, warm and attentive, without being over the top. My fault on the Singapore chilli Crab, the menu does say "market price", and quite honestly, had it been beautiful I wouldn't have an issue. I've had the real deal, so when my Singapore chilli crab arrived with a very thick glazey sauce in a soup bowl...I thought, "interesting"!
After I removed the decorative top of the crab, underneath it was a little crab covered in this gluggy sauce. Extremely disappointing, tasted awful, an basically too small to be bothered with. You go to a lot of effort to eat crab, so it needs to taste brilliant for all the fiddling around that's required.
Bottom line, the "market price" for this overrated dish was $99! Absolutely outrageous! You've totally lost the plot guys, to serve this kind of meal and charge $99 is criminal. Didn't complain, paid up and tipped our waitress. BTW, a 3cm round steak with Nothing cost's $64, and then its plus plus plus for salad, potatoes, etc.... Sydney has more to offer than this.
