Experience at this restaurant was beyond terrible.

Dined this restaurant with about 6 people, sat down at a fairly large round table near the back of the restaurant. At first, things were ok. Menus handed out tea served etc.

Ordering the food was fine but when it came for the food to come out, it took about 30 minutes. We were originally going to dine at the restaurant opposite this one, a new Beijing Duck place. But the wait was too long but little did we know, with the time it took for the food to get out of the kitchen we could have dined at the other restaurant.

I should also mention that we were having a vegetarian meal. The waiters didn't seem to take us seriously. By that I mean that our food was so slow to come out, that we wanted to cancel an order as we had already eaten all the other dishes we order, the waiter claimed that "it was already in the steamer". Sounded like some BS.

There were also multiple mix ups with our table that frustrated us further. Giving us fried ice cream Thatr we didn't orde when clearly we were only in the middle of our meal. They also managed to give us the wrong bill, claiming the person was "new" and that was why it was wrong. The waiters also had attitude, not even a smile!

Two of us went for a quick yum cha today as I was planning to hold a banquet in the future. Only tried the radish cake, stuffed eggplant and stuffed beancurd. There is an ad on their website saying $3.80 for all yum cha dishes during the week so thought we would try it out.

The manager offered us 'free tea'. I was shocked to find on the bill that we had been charged $5.75 per dish plus $2.80 for ? sauces. I queried this and was told 'the special is finished!" I showed them the ad which I printed off the internet but they just said 'oh really? but it's finished long ago' - if this is the case why is it still on the website?!

This is misleading and altho' we neither asked for nor had any sauces, we were told this was a standard charge that was in lieu of 'no charge for tea'. I find this to be both misleading, and doesn't make sense. The manager then said 'put it this way, I could charge you tea if you prefer and you would normally pay $1.80 each but I waived the tea (implying we were being treated like 'friends') and you pay $1.40 each for sauces!

Staff were courteous enough and the dishes we ordered were ok (not wonderful but of the same standard as any of the other large yum cha restaurants), but this left a bad taste in our mouths.

I'm Chinese and love yumcha. Visited again since my first review. Just rating the food: Good yumcha.

Standard has slipped. Some of the dumplings had pastry problems. Filling burst out when grabbed with chopsticks. Could just be a bad day. Still the flavours were great and the fish balls were a highlight this time. Fussy auntie and her partner from the North Shore were quite impressed with this suburban yumcha. Came again with friends and their fussy children and they ate until they were full. Still the best yumcha in Northern Suburbs.

At first I thought this place was delicious but after I got home and my lips were dry and I had a migraine I realised that I had been subjected to a MSG overdose. I would not go here again based on the fact that I think they used too much MSG.

First impressions I would get for this restaurant is that it would be fairly good due to its location in the prime Chinese community in Eastwood and also the fact that there is always a long wait for a seat on weekends, even though this restaurant is a double story.

I might add that I might be a little bit biased towards this restaurant as I am a constant regular and I would also get the special treatment. Which means no need to wait in line at all, rapid service and the waitresses would always pick the hottest of all steamers, however, I will still give an honest review.

Yes, if you decide to dine here for Yum Cha on the weekends around the afternoon period you will have to wait outside for periods of up to 25 minutes, depending on your luck. There isn't much of a contemporary design for the interior or exterior. It is left plain and simple, I would guess in a traditional way.

Food quality has always stayed consistent. You can also tell the difference with the foods, whether they are made on premises or store bought, and that is a very important aspect of Yum Cha and you can also taste and see the difference. The dumplings tastes very fresh with lots of flavours but that will later be encountered with drinking a lot of water. There is also plenty of variety of foods but I would tend to avoid from the ones which had been circulating for a while which sometimes seems to be a fair few.

The service is what you would expect in most Yum Cha places. It is always overpopulated with customers with the limited amount of service staff. Most requests would therefore take a while.

The value for money is average for Yum Cha. It is not overpriced silly nor is it extremely cheap. However, you do notice the difference in the sizes of foods as the servings are substantially large, compared to a lot of others.

Overall, there will always be a better Yum Cha somewhere else, but it is good for value and the quality of foods. Would I go back for more? Certainly.

Never will I go again. I love yumcha for their variety of steamed dumplings and I am an occasional diner at this place despite their above average prices.

After ordering around 6 dishes of it and whilst chewing I came across 2 Huge stones, like the size of 2 mini diamonds worth 100 dollars? My father called a nearby waitress and she didn't seem to know what to do, fair enough, so she called the senior staff (I think), and her usual grim face (I don't think I ever saw her smile) turned apologetic. She apologised and returned with those sesame covered rice cakes that looked more like leftovers from yesterdays yumcha.

Just appalling it was. How did 2 rocks, not even 1, get into the food? Either the kitchen condition is very unhygienic, or whatever. Just disgusting. Also, I don't know whether this is a tactic they teach the "trolley staff" i.e. the women who scroll the food trolley, but will they ever come to distinguish between a yes and a no? I always find myself furiously shaking my head to reject the food they offer after initially and clearly rejecting their recommendations. They stand there asking again and again if you want it.

I don't know why we still eat at that place, but after this event I probably will never again eat from that filthy place.

Food was normal. Not the greatest Yum Cha but then again I don't think I've ever been to a mind blowing Yum Cha before (open to any suggestions). Interior was boring, tired and not much to talk about. Service was fine. Nothing memorable to be honest but I don't remember thinking it was particularly rude either. I didn't pay for the meal but I did hear that it was relatively good value for money so thats a plus! From memory, the egg tarts were quite good.

We went to yum cha on a sunday arvo, waited around 15 minutes to get in. Me and my friend have been to alot of yum cha restaurants in Sydney and the prices seem to be increasing but eastwoods value was quite decent. Between two of us it was around $28 after 6 or 7 dishes. We found the food to be of great value and loved eating there. Although it was very noisy and busy but that wasn't the fault of the restaurant.

We went to yum cha for sunday lunch. We took a number and waited for about 15mins. The service was quick and friendly. Food was hot, delicious with a good variety. Loved it! Best of all was the cost! Very good value! Would recommend it.
