Named for a famous homeland beach in Santorini, this well-loved Greek venue maintains its Aegean Sea connection with its bayside location at Brighton-le-Sands. But it is in more than just geographic style that KAMARI always stays in touch with its roots.
Authentic Greek food is essentially simple.
It concentrates on fresh produce. It is colourful and dense with robust flavours. And it always echoes influences from the Greek past.
This is the path that KAMARI has followed for 15 years.
And it's why KAMARI so warmly and so successfully meets the needs of many diners' perfectly positioned as a popular restaurant with couples, with mixed groups, and with family celebrations.

We think this is the best Greek food at Brighton le sands. Reasonable value, but excellent quality.

Ate at kamari last night with my family and had the worst experience ever. To start with the waitress brought us water which was warmer than room temperature and when we told her she didn't even replace it and was really rude.
Then they brought my dad a beer and it was warm and not drinkable. I brought it to the attention of the owner and his response was 'oh yeah our fridge is broken give it to me to put in the deep fridge'. So my dad had to wait for his beer to get cold.
We ordered a couple of entrees which were average in taste. One of them were 4 souvlakia (there were 4 of us so one each) and one was absolutely charcoal and not edible so when we told the waitress she turns it over a few times to examine it and then said rudely 'Do you want another one?' well yeah obviously we would want another one because someone missed out on one!
So she took the souvlaki plate back which included a small bowl of tzatsiki and then she brings us one souvlaki on a plate without the tzatsiki. Then I told the owner that the tzatsiki was missing but there is no point because we have already finished the bread and his response was "oh ok".
Not a care in the world! I thought he would apologise and bring the tzatsiki back with extra bread. Never going back there again and have told all my family and friends about our poor experience.

We have eaten here quite a few times but tonight was probably our last with our children. I found $16 to be over the top for a children's serve of calamari and chips, especially when there is no published children's menu with prices. We love this restaurant and have been there and recommended it to many people as authentic Greek food of a high standard. We did ask our waitress to check the price and she said it was correct. If you are going to charge that much for children's meals then you should have a published menu that advises prices - in our wildest dreams we wouldn't have thought it would be that expensive and are fairly sure we haven't paid that much here in the past. $10 would be fine. If you are trying to deter families from coming you are doing the right thing.
Response from Management:
Hi Annie,
I can understand you being upset about paying $16 for a kids meal and I have to apologize for my staffs lack of knowledge regarding the kids meal, as we don't sell many of them. They forget to mention that the kids meals all came with a glass of juice and ice cream for dessert, hence the price.
Since this incident was brought to my attention I have changed the price to make it easier for everyone to $10 for all the kids meals and the drinks and desserts will be extra as it is for everyone else.
Annie thank you for bringing this to my attention, I take all comments and reviews on board and act accordingly to improve my bussiness.
PS: I also hope you can give us another chance.
Kind regards,
Harry

Kamari is an outstanding little joint that has withstood the test of time. As a Greek, I am a harsh critic of Greek restaurants but Kamari is without peer. From even the most simple entrees like "Melizanes Tiganites" (grilled eggplant), there is a finesse and air to dishes.
The food is honest, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. I'm at a loss of explain the negative reviews! At least the proprietor has the philotimo (respect) to emphatically and unreservedly apologise to some disgruntled patrons via this website.

What a wonderful Greek restaurant! Our group of four unanimously agreed that the food was excellent. One person even said that the desserts were the best Greek sweets he had ever tasted. Everything was tasty and beautifully prepared, although the lamb souvlaki was a bit overcooked and dry. But the slow roasted lamb was succulent and delicious, and all of the other mains and starters - including the haloumi, which is so easy to overcook - were spot on. We would go back there in a heartbeat. But be aware that in what they call the "off season" they are actually closed for Monday dinner despite what their website says.

This would have to be one of the Best dinners I have had in a very long time. Service was great, food was to die for, servings were very generous, presentation of food exceeded our expectations, price was very reasonable for high quality, tasty food. It was a fun night, enjoyed by all 7 diners. Thanks so much for making the celebration special. We've already picked out what we'll be eating on our next visit to Kamari!

Had my daughter's 16th birthday lunch here with the family. Best Greek food I've had in Sydney. Harry and the team really looked after us. Would highly recommend it. We had the set menu but we're looking forward to going back and trying some of the other dishes.

The food was quite nice. I really like the lamb atlantis. Its very tender and juicy. However, paying $13.90 for 5 pieces of haloumi was not value for money.
The waitress was polite and attentive, although she never smile.

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing service! I was so impressed by this restaurant, by far the best Greek food in Sydney! The restaurant is also lovely inside, and in a gorgeous location opposite the beach at Brighton. The service is great, the staff are very friendly and efficient. The food is amazing, fresh and delicious. I will be recommending Kafe Kamari to all friends and family, cannot wait to go back there again!
