We went to this resstaurant today for yum cha as a treat for my son's 13th birthday. Thought the queues and long wait were a good sign, but were thoroughly disappointed with the service and even worse a maggot was found in our calamari! We saw the manager who just kept patting my son on the head and giving us the thumbs up. At $100 with no discount I am horrified at this response to what we found to be a very upsetting event.

I had yum cha lunch here on Sunday with a group of friends. I'd heard good things about this place but have to say I was extremely disappointed with their service. I had made a booking the week before because we only had a certain window of time for lunch. When we got there I was informed our table was no yet ready and would be 20 minutes. We ended up waiting over an hour for our table!
Eventually, we just took a ticket because we got sick of waiting. By the time we got a table, they were starting to finish the yum cha so the food didn't come by very often and a lot of our favourite yum cha dishes were already finished. It was a terrible experience and terrible service and I will never go back.

Went there for dinner. Food is okay service is shocking. English is very limited and you are made to feel like it is your fault for them not understanding you. Very arrogant and rude lady serving us. Food was overpriced. Go to Eastwood, service disappointing there too but at least it is about half the price! I wish checkers in the mandarin centre had not shut down.

Prawns dumplings was good. Other usual suspects were pork bun, steamed glutinous rice, prawns wrapped with rice noodles. Tofu with sweet syrup dessert was horrible. It wasn't silky smooth and the syrup wasn't sweet enough.

This place is the best yum cha north of the bridge. Sure, some others are pretty good, but this just seems to win each time we go there. Yes, there's always a queue outside. It can be a pain, but that's because its popular and that's because it's good!

Having had yumcha for a number of times at Kam Fook, my friends and I decided to spend our Chinese New Year celebration dinner here. Let's get straight to the point: we discovered a WORM in the fish & vegetable soup that we ordered.
So we called the manager. He was somewhat unapologetic and said that the worm is from the vegetable (as if it's common sense to expect a worm in a vegetable dish!). He said a quick "I'm sorry", fair enough, but when we asked whether we can get a replacement dish for free, he simply said no. In a similar situation, other decent restaurants would have been very apologetic and offer some kind of compensation without us having to ask for it. Other dishes are fairly average and over priced.
If you don't mind paying heaps of money for your 'invested' food and receiving below average service, you won't have any issue having dinner at this restaurant.

Oh my goodness! Where can I go for good Yum Cha in Chatswood anymore?!
I am a Hong Kong Chinese speaking Cantonese, bringing an Indonesian foodie couple especially to Chatswood for a fabulous brunch on Tuesday 3rd January, 2012 morning. With high expectations, we found the restaurant opens twenty minutes after the advertised opening time.
The tea, Shaou Mei, was still good. :) Phew!
We ordered four dishes:
Prawn dumplings (Har Gau) - prawn meat smelled foul almost bad, skin breaks off from the filling: failed for a restaurant of this caliber - message conveyed to the management!! We got free tea as apologies.
Chicken feet (Fung Chau) - good as ever, tasty, good sauce and the feet still has crispy but soft skins - full marks!
Pork dumpling (Siu Mai) - tough filling, dumpling skin breaks - failed.
Pan fried rice sheet rolls (Cheung Fan) - fried unevenly, dry and stuck together - average.
We got upset first and then got sad with the food and decided to cut our losses short with this uninspiring culinary venture and go to Mamak instead. Mamak beside the Chatswood train station was much better with their Malaysian food!!
At Kam Fook, however, the bill came up to $30 for three guests!! It was not worth my patronage.
Please bring back the Kam Fook that I know. I want good food. I already don't care about the service!

One of the best Yum cha in Chatswood. Services are better than other Chinese restaurants in Sydney. Highly recommended! But don't take a crab dish, you will get a very salty crab for $28.80. (just only this dish is not recommended, trust me!).

Simply appalling, would not go there again if it was the last restaurant in Sydney. Went for Yum cha, waited a half an hour no food no service. The first I have left a restaurant without eating.

Service was below average, there was not great value for money. The wait time is ridiculous and the wait staff were unhelpful. Not worth the wait.
