My friends have raved about this place and I finally got to try it for dinner on Saturday night. Luckily we booked as it was busy but the food came out really quickly. Basically all our dishes came out at once which is good if you're really hungry, but not good if you want to relax and catch up with friends.
Still the service was very friendly and the highlight dishes were the okonomiyaki, chicken karage, sushi and sashimi platter. Love the sunken booths and I'll definitely be back!
Went here for my mums birthday from a recommendation. Delivers exactly what you expect. Superb food. Friendly atmosphere. Value for money. Would definitely come here again.
Went here with my partner tonight, and it was great! Excellent tasting food, really fun set-up with the sunken tables, and the dishes came out very promptly. However, one of the waiters clearly wasn't on the ball, gave us the wrong drink, despite repeating the name of what we ordered correctly, and it took us a while to explain what was wrong.
Extremely highly recommended is the tempura ice cream, it's green tea ice cream inside, instead of boring vanilla, and the deep-fried coating is very light and crunchy rather than the dodgy thick doughy stuff you normally encounter. Plus, the strawberry sauce it comes in is actually strawberry conserve, with whole fruit in it. Absolutely brilliant!
Been a regular for a long time at Ju Ju since they were at Bondi junction. Highly recommend the Sukiyaki and Shabu shabu but I dont know what has happened to the tasty dim sims you used to get in your Shabu Shabu. Hope they bring it back. Only thing stopping me giving a rating of 9.
My fiancee had a fantastic time here. It was like we teleported to Osaka the moment we walked down the stairs and took off our shoes. We were politely shown to our sunken table and I awkwardly sat down. I think with a bit more practice I'll figure out how to sit down without bumping into the next table or making a loud kaplonk sound.
There were plenty of waiters and they were very nice and laid back. The food was fresh and all the dishes came with a garnish of mixed salad (love that!). Our fave dishes were the ox tongue, karaage chicken, yukke, beef tataki and salmon carpaccio. The miso soup was subtle and tasty. We can't wait to try more on our next visit. Which I think it definitely happen sooner than later.
What a fun place to go. I love the whole taking your shoes off experience. Reminds me of the izakaya's (pubs) in Japan. I love the concept of ordering lost of little plates.
This place is the ultimate venue, it is the best restaurant in the world. The most authentic Japanese food outside of Japan, open microphone karaoke with a great list of songs, sake, laid back atmosphere, ultra-cheap but brilliantly tasty and satisfying banquets, great deserts and oh what can I say? I had my bucks night here and go again whenever I can. The place rocks, it's brilliant, I love it.
Organised a party with a friend of mine and came here with a group of 24. Our bellies were totally stuffed after $25 banquet menu. Authentic and great value for money. Thought I've been teleport across to Japan the moment I stepped into the restaurant due to its traditional ambience and surroundings. Excellent service too, the waitress was super organised and attentive. This is now one of my favorites
