Josh's Restaurant Berrima, Illawarra and Wollongong

Having recently opened, this place is BUZZING. Open for breakfast and lunch every day and dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. BYO at no charge, however this is sure to change as the restaurant becomes world famous!! Have enjoyed lunch and dinner and no praise is high enough. The food is sublime, the pricing is EXTREMELY cheap, this too will increase with the recognition this place deserves, and due to the quality of the food, who cares how long one has to wait.

Had lunch there yesterday, our fourth or fifth visit to this gem of an eatery. Quality, variety and taste is what it's all about for me and Josh certainly delivers. The menu is always changing, and the quality and freshness of ingredients is superb. All this and fantastic service too, a bit of humor, a lot of knowledge and a real desire to accommodate everybody's needs and I am talking about all the staff including David! Couldn't ask for more.

Josh's food as always was wonderful. The service by female staff also very good, but the older waiter needs to retire. I'm saying this as a person from his generation, he needs to move on!!! We had a 6pm reservation & then as soon as dessert was finished, we were told the next reservation was waiting outside for our table, that's not really our problem!!! Even though our guests, from out of the area, would have liked another coffee, we left. Very disappointing.

Perfect for Sunday breakfast -- highly recommended for scrambled eggs like my grandma made them, tasty coffee and more, welcoming service, opens earlier than most at 9a.m. and background baby boomer music playing at calm decibel level.Everything relaxed and easy. As a southern highlands local, this is my favourite choice for Sunday breakfast.

We live in Mittagong and have had dinner and breakfast at Josh's a couple of times. We are so blown away by the food and service that we had our wedding reception there in June (2011).

Our guests are still speaking about how fantastic the food is and make special trips back Highlands to eat there again! They made us feel so special on our special day and we can't thank them enough.

Had a perfect winter's dinner at Josh's last Friday with local friends. Food was excellent, and yes those zucchini puffs are sensational. Mains excellent and most of the desserts exquisite, however, rhubarb and rice custard sadly disappointed one of our party, small serve, three mouthfuls! Greeting on arrival was a bit strange, we entered to be asked what staff could do for us?

When we laughed and said 'please feed us', the reception was a little cool until we said we had a booking. A little offputting initially. We will return, oh and, the valuation score above for 'value' was only because I have no idea what the bill was and its immaterial if the experience is great. Thanks.

Just got back from a 2 day trip to the highlands. Have been a frequent visitor for 5 years. We decided to ask a few 'locals' where to have lunch. Two of them insisted we try Josh's at Berrima. I'd never heard of it, but we went to Berrima in search. Couldn't find it, the sign had been blown down in the massive winds. Eventually we found it, and were we lucky. Ambiance - so relaxed. Service - so friendly, food - wow. The highlight of our trip to the highlands. We'll be back!

Lunch at Josh's on a cold wintry day was just the order. Very yummy mains and the desserts are worth killing the diet for! Very good value and the service was excellent. We will be going back.

Visited Josh"s yesterday for a light lunch with my elderly mother and the attention and care given to us was outstanding. We both had the duck pate which was generous and superb, and the other dishes appearing from the kitchen all looked wonderful. Not surprising that it was a full house though mid week. I was especially struck by receiving my change- a full $10 note. Any other restaurant would have given it in small change in anticipation of a tip. Thank you for the seriously extra attention to your customers.

Had an excellent meal there, have been to ottoman in Canberra and Sydney and the chef has obviously worked there, food is fantastic the only complaint is the entrees are too big, we like to have dessert but due to the size of the entree had trouble eating all the main and the dessert sounded really good, if we had known they were open for breakfast would have gone back and had dessert then, great waiter we will definitely be back.
