Jordons… Food, Views, Location… What more could you want!
Fantastic food and service in a great location. It's always busy, yet the food quality does not suffer. Compares favourably with Sydney's best seafood restaurants.
My first time to Jordans was quite a surprise. We went midweek for lunch, sat inside and ordered the Seafood platter for 2. Good mix of fresh and hot seafood and plenty for 2 people. I enjoy my seafood and I absolutely enjoyed this.
We also shared the Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee which was pretty average but this didn't detract to the overall experience. Service was warm and welcoming, it's in a great location and the price was quite reasonable given the amount food. Overall a good experience.
I loved Jordons seafood restaurant especially the seafood platter. My partner and I received a RedBalloon voucher for my birthday and found the staff to all be very happy and helpful, yet unobtrusive. The venue was beautiful, overlooking the water and the food was amazing! We could not stop eating even when we were full!
The whole experience was effortless and enjoyable. A wonderful night and I would certainly use a voucher to go back there.
I was disappointed with Jordan's restaurant. Although the service was good, the food was average. I also thought that for an upper priced restaurant the decor and ambience matched more a fast food restaurant, with masses of tables, lots of noises and people coming and going all through the meal. The view is lovely, but is very much obscured by everyone coming in and out. In terms of quality and value for money I was underwhelmed and will not going going there again, there are many more restaurants with more to offer in this price bracket.
I recently went with my partner to dinner at Jordans where we enjoyed a delicious seafood platter for two for $138 purchased through RedBalloon Days.

The service was fantastic and the value for what we had was extremely satisfying. Recommended to anyone looking for romantic and dinner for two that's great value.
Pleased with Jordons. Relatively quiet night for them on Friday (no one outside, inside half full), service was good. Had an entertainment voucher for buy one main course, get another free up to $36 in value.
Made booking at 6pm that night for 7.45pm. I ordered the Singapore chilli bugs with jasmine rice (approx $32) with a Gerwurtztraminer ($11), very nice. My partner said the sauce tasted 'dirty' but I really liked it. Could have given me a shell bowl and a finger bowl instead of piling up on two bread plates. Was full, but without the rice I would have certainly wanted a bit more.
Partner ordered bottled James Squire beer (approx $8) and the salt and pepper soft shell crab served with wilted spinach leaves. He wanted something else to cleanse his pallate, more of a salad or side vegies, to break up the taste. Quite small, not great value at about $32. With our voucher, it made it great value, not sure if we would have been happy paying that much for the crab, but the bugs were worth paying for.
Ambience inside is nice and warm overlooking Cockle Bay. Only went to Jordon's because of the voucher, probably wouldn't go otherwise as there are nicer/less hyped up places around Sydney. The seafood platters look well presented, a lot of the other diners had ordered them.
Went there because we were given a voucher for a 2 person seafood platter and in total there was 7 of us. Total bill came to $340 which is ...okay....however food was Terrible! I would think that Jordons being so close to the Sydney's Fish market, seafood would be fresh, instead seafood wasn't, and the "hot" platter for 2 came out cold, and burnt (and I'm talking about normal fried chips!). The whole night all I could taste from the food was saturated and cold oil coming out of the seafood!
Service was bad too, luckily we had one great waitress which was very attentive, however, the others actually screamed out the drinks she had on her tray to a) try and get our attention and b) to get that load off her. Another waiter gave us the wrong dish and subtly mentions that we made the wrong order to our waitress....when 2 mins later our correct dish come to our table. I would definitely not recommend Jordons.
When things start going downhill...they only gain momentum. Whoever is in charge of operations here needs to take a basic course in hospitality, better yet, just get someone in with common sense. Because it's not that hard to get the simple things right:
* Loose the annoying camera guy who insists on taking your photo which you don't have to pay for (but sure you'll feel obliged to when you are presented with a photo which you have to pay to keep). What are we in the 1970’s? The year is 2008 and practically everyone carries a camera in one way shape or form. I did feel for the photographer who got barred by every other table. Lose him!
* The hostess was nice and showed us to the table but after 20mins no waiter turned up to take our order of drinks/food. 3 wait staff and 2 managers/hostess were having a good old gossip and laugh behind the reception desk. I literally had to stand up and flap my arms like a bird before I caught the attention of one reluctant poor sob who explained with a sigh "you’re not my table but I'll take your order". Mate if you don't want to be there then its simple....don't be there!
* I've seen better looking seafood platters at RSL/Leagues clubs! The seafood platter ($138) came out way to quickly and the presentation showed for it. Whack on some frozen thawed bugs/lobster/crab and there's your cold selection. Add a pot of precooked lukewarm mussels and bulk fried fish and chips, throw on some lettuce garnish and hey presto...El cheapo seafood platter for 2!
* While we're on the platter, the cold selection was dismal and I guarantee the lobsters and crabs were frozen. The taste and texture of the meat was just like cardboard. We left a whole crab and bug uneaten.
* Bring your fisherman’s knife to cut your own crab and balmain bug in half?!?....what am I bush tucker man or a paying diner.
* Last time I dined here Jordons was in the middle of a refurbishment - but I don't know what's changed, I did notice that the chairs were the same outdoor framed and plastic seated ones which had been upholstered hence only cheapens the refurb as a half effort.
* Ordering extra drinks and requesting more appropriate portions or seafood and tartare sauce again seemed to be an exhausting task for the waiter. If you plan on experiencing this for yourself...you're better off bringing your own selection of Masterfoods sauces sachets.
* Finally to top it off as I turned and raised my hand to flag one of the start...I am absolutely certain the waiter glanced away at the sight of required service...PATHETIC!
* One waiter however by the name of Russell was polite and asked how our meal was. I waived the option for overpriced dessert opting to enjoy more suitably priced ice cream from one of the promenade outlets.
* On departing only Russell said goodbye and wished us a good night. Everyone else was too busy trying to look busy to notice our departure.
Disappointing to say the least....Give this one a miss folks!
