Good asian restaurant in the RSL. We went before a show and gave ourselves 1hr 30 min thinking that would be enough time. But to our disappointment we only got half our mains and had to leave. We did explain we needed to be out by a certain time, they were busy which did make it hard.

Overall the food was above average chinese. Good fresh ingredients with good flavour. Pricing was decent for the good size of the dishes. Just a real shame we did not get the service we expected.

Excellent. We loved everything about this Yum Cha restaurant! It has very good quality dumplings, the best yum cha we have ever eaten and we have been to many yum cha restaurants in the past. This is better than Hilltop Phonix for sure. Took my mum here, she loved it also, its our new fav place to eat.

Great dining experiences so much so that I've invited my guests for Yum Cha's. They loved it too and had only good remarks to say about the food and service. Staff were friendly and polite and I'll be back with more guests in future. To the management at Jin Yan Restaurant, keep up the good work!

Came here last week for yum cha. We're surprised there was no queue at 1pm and the restaurant is very modern and clean. The waitresses pushing the carts were very friendly and it's quite good to see English written menu on each cart to describe what dim sums are in there. I've not seen this anywhere else.

Unfortunately, these are the only good points I could give to this restaurant. We order mostly steamed dim sums and were terribly disappointed by the quality of the dim sums. Although the filling in the dim sums were generous, the dim sum wrappings were starchy and very poor compared to all the other yum cha places that we frequent.

We had coconut sago and mango pancakes for dessert. The sago was average but the mango pancakes were disappointing. Would have been good if the mangoes were thawed first. Just imagine biting into a freezing cold mango. Overall, very disappointing yum cha experience. Hope it was just a one-off, as it's a shame given such good service and ambience.

Great place, make sure to come before 1130am to beat the massive queues for lunch. Awesome food, great portions.

I was so disappointed with this restaurant. Me and a number of other guests with me ordered rice noodle dishes which were in my opinion and theirs, the worst we have had, especially for that Price! I paid almost $17 for a vegetarian rice noodle dish which consisted of one asian green vegetable, a sauce which tastes like vege stock gravy and steamed rice noodles.

The service was also terrible, they begun cleaning our table before we finished, reaching in front of us. When we asked if we could put part of our meal in a takeaway container, the waitress looked condescendingly at us and said "sure?!"

I was hoping to come back and try their yum cha but after this and seeing their over priced menu, no way!

Have been here for Yum Cha during the week a few times and love it. We used to live in Chatswood and always went out for Yum Cha with our Chinese neighbour. This rivals any Chinese Yum Cha in Chatswood, I love it! Staff are really helpful and don't ignore us Westerners and will bring you anything you ask for.

Food is Always hot and fresh. Love the dumplings, salt & pepper calamari, chinese broccoli and mango pancakes. I'd go every week if I had the time, 2 people approx $50-60 total.

Terrible service, overpriced food, and the most tasteless food I have ever had at Yum Cha. Was a total waste of time. Expected it to be good from how they hype up their store on their website but I shouldn't have expected so much from this RSL. First impressions were after they located us in a tiny corner and they came with the trolley once expecting us to take everything on that one opportunity.

The food seemed like it was circulating for a while, was tasteless and they struggled to find us some sauce. After that, they never came around even though we tried to get their attention. Finally after we complained, a staff came over and asked us what we wanted but when we asked what they had, they had to keep asking other staff since it wasn't their role to know what was being sold.

Terrible terrible service with these 'specialised staff' stuck to one job only and not knowing anything out of their comfort zone. Eventually it felt like they were trying to get rid of us by continuously looking at us since it was 2:15 and they close at 3 pm. Must be running tight then! After all this, they charged us ~$35 for three items since we couldn't order anything else and was frustrated at the service.

My two cents is that I would stay far away from here, there is better Yum Cha at Fortune8 in Cabramatta or travel out to the city which would be well worth the extra travel.

One of the best Yum Chas I've ever been to. A huge selection, all freshly made. Nice, clean, modern, designer interior. I always resent having to register at the desk in the RSL club, but for this restaurant I make an exception.
