Went to Jimmy Liks on saturday night with two friends, after we couldn't get into Ms G's. So glad we ended up there! Wow.. We got our own little booth near the bar and our own waitress that took care of our every need. She brought us cocktails and helped us with the menu. She was a gem!
The food was amazing! Will definitely go back for the green mango salad with king prawns and sticky pork, barramundi red curry. We had a fabulous night. My only complaint is that the bar is very dark and you need a light to read the menu. Can't wait to return!

Had a lovely night here, very busy on the weekend and it gets very lively! Loved the Soft Shell Crab and the Crisp Duck, best duck I've had! Had a lovely waitress who recommended very well, will be back!

Great food, had the Banquet and all the dishes are fantastic! For $58 I have not had better value for money anywhere in Sydney. Service was very friendly and quick. I would go back definitely if I lived around there.

Went there for as we have cocktails previously and wanted to try their dinner menu. Started with cocktails and you know that things are going to be bad when you ask the bartender for their recommendations and all they can say is that the menu is extensive and 'i cant recommend a drink because I'm not sure what you like'. Worst one liner i have ever heard from a mixologist.
We asked to move tables and they kindly agreed to this, but the manager was so rude about the whole thing - we thanked him and he turned around and walked off. The table next to us has reserved, and in the two hours we were there, not one person arrived. Ordered two entrees and two mains - overall we liked the food but thought it was overpriced.
Major concerns: When ordering, the waitress asked if we wanted tap water, still or sparkling. We ordered tap water and they brought out sparkling already opened not expecting us to rebuff (and to place it on the bill). We reminded them we did not order sparkling.
When the curry arrived, they brought out rice for two and again, we specifically told the waitress we did not want rice. Under her breath, she muttered "well when you ordered i asked you if you wanted rice and you said yes, so..." and then walked off. They have these stupid small lights to read the menu - would be OK if they were nice lights and not $5 chinese that flicker and turn off ad hoc - take note! I love the ambience and dim lighting, and don't care that I need to use a light to read the menu, but they don't work!
Overall - the food is good, ambience really nice, cocktails were nice, but the service is abhorrent. I work in the industry and felt like giving them some tips. The Manager on duty should be shot for his nasty antics and rudeness, and they should not bring things out that they assume people don't mind having added to their bills.

Hopeless Longrain wannabe. Went for the tasting menu and it was seriously substandard. The wagu beef tasted like it had been dipped in aniseed (liquorice), the pork hock was just cubes of fat, no meat just fat, the chicken skewers where no better than a food court and the chinese broccoli was seasoned badly and tough. For over $130 it was a complete rip off of a place. Will never go there again and I don't understand why it is popular.
On the plus side the waitress and service overall was very good, much better than most restaurants. If only the same could be said for the food! The good food guide people who reviewed this place must have been drunk at the time.

I lived in the area a few years ago and I've recently moved back. Always loved coming here but my last visit will be my last. The food was... Ok, not as good as before, but the barman / manager was so up him self it's a real concern. Here's a tip mate. Don't bad mouth your competition in the area I eat at all of them and the service is better than yours.

I can here about three years ago and had the tasting menu (jimmy's selection). It was amazing and I could not wait to return. This time, however, I wasn't impressed. It seemed like the food has gone downhill and my boyfriend even commented that the pork hock was "the same as the sweet and sour pork from the local chinese takeaway".
Some things were great, the dumplings were beautiful and the chicken and crab salad was to die for, but the pork hock, beef dish and the chicken were all sub-par. The service was pretty good except for one very sour waitress. Regardless, I would return for the beautiful cocktails and the general vibe of the place.

Ok, so I like dark, moody and atmospheric restaurants, true. But this bar is sooooo dark! Lucky we just had an entree in there and then moved into the main dining area for dinner. I kind of like the communal tables, ideal for my friends and I on a wet Sunday night (the bar is actual nice for couples, but a little 'cosy' fo a big group I think and again so dark in there!).
Service was great courtesy of our lovely waitress (Dutch and spoke French which my Frenchie friends liked). I can't go past the Pork Hock here has been on the menu for years, and the first time I tried it I was coerced, but now I peddle the stuff - yum. Trust me, bursting with flavour and just so tasty. Also yum was the beef and squid.

Went there 2 years ago for girlfriends birthday. Can't believe we haven't been back since, we talk about going back all the time. The banquets are great for what you get but we got 2 bottles of wine as well so the whole meal cost us $200. If we weren't paying off debts we'd be there once a month. Haven't had a better meal since, love this place!

I was here for my birthday last weekend with a few girlfriends. The food was amazing, everything we ordered was surperb! The ambience was very nice and intimate.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely owner helping us to our table and had a little chat with him too which was very delightful. How ever we did come across a very rude waitress but that was the only negative aspect of the night. Overall I had an amazing time, highly recommend this place! I look forward coming back again very soon.
