We booked Jimbaran for a 20 person dinner banquet menu. From the time we booked via phone until we left the restaurant in the evening, the service was top notch.
The food was delicious and there was more than enough to feed the group (so much food there was some left for takeaway). Entrees, main and dessert were well received by the group with all commenting on how great the food was. Beef rendang and spicy chicken were the stand outs, whilst the rice pudding dessert was also a favourite. As it was most guests first time at the restaurant, we were glad to see that many were very keen to come back and try the rest of the menu.
As mentioned earlier the service was fantastic. The hosts were very eager to please and were always attentive, carefully monitoring the amount of food on the table and always ensuring there was enough water etc. BYO combined with no corkage and cakeage was also well received. We were seated in the courtyard which has a great backyard feel and well decorated.
Overall we were very impressed with the service, food and value provided. We can highly recommend Jimbaran to anyone looking for a place to cater for a large dinner group. Can't wait to go back!
Very non-authentic, small servings and everything loaded with sugar. We had the satays which was the most non-authentic item, tastes bland and sweet, does not have any aroma of spices whatsoever. The Beef rendang serving was so tiny - only has 3 small pieces, how can this be a main dish?
The nasi goreng was horrible, it was microwaved! The eggplants with green chilis and anchovies was drenched with oil, they are too stingy to use kitchen paper to drain the oil! The chicken main dish lacks texture, it tastes like mushy baby food, though the sauce was nice except it was sugarised. Never return again!
Sadly, Jimbaran serves the most westernised, least traditional Indonesian dishes. Take it from an Indonesian, the bakwan here tastes like Aussie corn fritters you'd get from a cafe on King Street, the murtabak is too fluffy and salty, and who would pay $7.70 for a serve of sambal? If you cannot make traditional Indo/Balinese food, don't try to overcharge for rubbish.
Yes it's slightly more expensive than other Indonesian restaurants but the decor, presentation and service is much better. I like both Indo restaurants in Avoca st but the other one can be a bit understaffed at times and food takes longer to come out. Have been very impressed with Jimbarin the 4-5 times I've been. You have to try the " Ayam Bakar Anugrah", only $13.90 for one of the best chicken dishes in town!
We had our Christmas party at Jimbaran, and all fourteen of us raved about the food. Excellent service, and the best indo outside Bali. (My boss goes seven times a year) We sat out the back, which was lovely on a warm night. The beef rendang was exceptional, as were the entrees. Loved it and are going back this week! Try it.
We walked in and after getting a grilling for not making a booking finally got a seat even though the place was empty. We then asked for a special dish for our two year old. Plain chicken and rice and they said they wouldn't do it and that we had to order off the menu. Very rude and wouldn't be flexible at all. Went next door to the Thai restaurant and had a good night.
Came in here on Saturday night as the usual Indon down the road was closed for annual holidays, enjoyed the food, was a bit on the expensive side and definitely preferred down the road but overall not bad, worth a try.
We love Indonesian food but this wasn't authentic. We ordered the beef rendang, fish curry and chicken satay, tasted like Thai food. The restaurant's saved only by prompt, friendly service.
