If you need coffee and a cold drink and watch some of the Sydney people walk by, it's a great place and convenient. Apart from that if you dare to order any food ....read the other reviews and make your own mind up.
I agree with the last review. I go to Jet quite often because it is convenient, quick and easy. If it wasn't for the location, I doubt it would be as popular. The service is terribly average, and nobody there is worth going over, as one other reviewers commented. There is one waiter with an interesting personality, he tends to flirt with the women, so he's slightly more attentive than the rest of the service team, who are late with menus, dump meals on tables, and always looked annoyed you've asked them to get something for you i.e. sugar for coffee or salt and pepper for your meals.
Staples that should be on the tables anyway. The coffee is ok, the tea is shocking, I have had tea on two separate occasions that tasted like soap. Meals are reasonable value, pizzas are good, as is the tasting plate. The thing is you always know what you're going to get at Jet, it is nothing if reliable, convenient and offers a reasonable setting for good people watching.
I've come here to meet friends for a quick coffee on a few separate occasions. Every time it has been spectacularly average on all fronts. Coffee is ordinary, staff look ordinary, service is either average or slightly slow and rude, decor is ordinary, value is just over bang for buck.
I think I keep going back because at least it's never worse than average, and it's one of the only places I can think of in the vicinity that serves both coffee and beer.
The new menu was fantastic. The vegetarian pizza is the best I have ever had!!! My friends all had different meals, grilled chicken breast, Salmon bruschetta, and the mushroom rissotto. And all were totally happy, not just with the food but also service, choice, and location.
It has the best location in the city to watch people as I found out when I was waiting for my friends. The staff on the lunch shift, were so nice, not to forget that the 2 girls at my table were going Ga Ga over our hot waiter. If you want a true Sydney city experience, I urge you to try this restaurant.
I had a light lunch here with my husband on Tuesday (Oct 30). Our focaccias and salads were OK, though I thought the service was quite ordinary. It could benefit from some improvement.
Out of all the places I have visited for dinner, there is one that pops into my mind very easily. The Jet in Queen Victoria Building is quite easy to remember, even though I have been to this place only once in the last year. I arrived with a friend for dinner and we were offered a very small table. Closer to the other tables than would be appropriate for any comfort or privacy, as we could very easily hear the conversations from the surrounding tables and I can safely assume that in the same way, our conversation was far from private.
Soon after being disappointed with the accommodation, the waiter arrived to take our order, but he suddenly disappeared half the way without completing his job. It took quite a while for him to come back and as I was not expecting this kind of behavior, I did not time the event. Finally we manage to get his attention back, and order a couple of plates of pizza, a bottle of coke and a mineral water (These arrived in the smallest bottles I have seen in my life, suitable for some sort of satire or black comedy rather than to quench someone's thirst) and I set the stopwatch to see what the delay would be in the pizza.
Having quite a few Italian friends, I have had numerous outings to pizza restaurants in the many Italian places in Sydney, so I expected no more than fifteen minutes. Instead, we had to wait over thirty five minutes for the pizzas to arrive and although they were not bad, there was nothing spectacular about them. After all, when you are paying for dinner, you expect better than "not bad".
You could say that all this is enough for me to never go back to such a place, and hopefully there would be no more disappointments in what could have been otherwise a pleasurable experience, however, luck was definitely not on our side that night. Half the way through having our pizza (That lack any excitement and had minimal flavor), a waitress approached our table and asked us if we could move to another table. I know, at this point in time you must be thinking I have some sort of grouch against the place.
Truth be told, until I visited The Jet, I did not. But now, I think it could be possible. Nevertheless, as incredible as this will sound we did pay the b
Coffee is fantastic!! Best coffee in the city. Very cool and funky cafe in a fantastic spot. Wait staff are lovely and helpful. Would definitley recommend.
The last time I was there for breakfast with two friends and could not attract the staffs attention to get menus and had to go to the counter to get their attention, even though they saw us come in. Then when we did, they never came back to get the order so we left, and they watched us walk out. They were not busy so there was no excuse. My friends and I then walked thru QVB to the cafe in the middle of the ground floor and got fast pleasant service and the meals we ordered were considerably cheaper than than Jet. I've had a few bad experiences here and would not choose it myself but have met friends there as it is in a central location to meet. After looking at the other reviews I have to agree, the waiters are rude and the service is slow. It's a real shame as it looks like a really nice Euro style cafe.
