Went there on a thursday night for a meal with some friends and had the best time ever. The meals were excellent and arrived quick. The staff were cute (very cute)and friendly. There was a duo playing great blues and Jazz. Had the best time ever and it didn't break the bank. I will be a regular for sure.

Went there on a sat night with group of friends, obviously a busy night for them, staff were running around pumping out the food/drinks and cleaning up to free up seating. Never really been before, first impression was good, really yummy food and wine was ok.

What turned it into a really bad night though, was the unreasonable and apparently arrogant senior staff. One of the waiters took my plate when I hadn't finished, and because it was so noisy in the restaurant, I had to call out to her 3 times, raising my voice. Not her fault she took the plate, not my fault either she couldn't hear me.

Senior staff got angry with me because he thought I was shouting and being rude to her when I just wanted the plate back! Anyway, to me it was a misunderstanding, as in, in my eyes I did nothing wrong, in his eyes he was defending his staff which is a really nice thing to do.

So, to keep peace I even went and apologized to him and tried to explain I wasn't irate in the slightest, just wanted the plate and natural instinct was to get louder and louder due to noise levels. He responded with absolute arrogance and didn't accept the apology, was extremely rude.

I'm a girl by the way, so was quite upset about it, given I was paying for a service, and didn't do anything wrong, even apologized though I did nothing wrong to be nice, it ruined my whole night!

Will never go back there again and neither will my friends, that's not how you treat customers.

Don't believe the $10 steak deal - it's not true! Went there after finding online that they offer $10 steaks every day of the week. When we approached the old tubby guy behind the bar and asked about the $10 steaks, he just kept repeating "read the menu behind you" with the most arrogant attitude I've ever come across. I asked, "so you don't do the $10 deal anymore?" again, he just repeated "the menu is behind you" well, newsflash for you, we don't care if 50 people before us asked the same question all you had to say was "No we don't sorry" and that would have settled the matter instead you wasted your own time by continuing to repeat your favourite sentence. Your arrogance and lack of customer service skills is going to drive your business into the ground, there's several bad reviews about you why don't you try to learn from them.

My husband and I booked the function room for a 30th birthday. We were advised at time of booking that we would be able to use our ipod. Was told when arrived needed to wait for the senior staff to retrieve the cord required, so we patiently waited. When he arrived I was told our ipod was not compatible. Then when we offered to go get cds or another ipod I was told that the truth he didn't want to play our music and that we were misinformed at time of booking.

This is after I'd spent $1100 on a bar tab and $1000 on finger food for all my guests. After 4 hrs of painfully boring and dull 'funeral' music we asked if they would at least put on something slightly upbeat to which he replied that it was his bar, his music and I should just 'deal with it'. The main bar has 10 patrons, we had 60 paying guests. He then also accused my guests of trashing a bathroom which on inspection was in perfect clean condition.

When one of my guests tried to enquire about this accusation so that we could rectify any confusion he was told by John to f**k off four times. My guests were so well behaved there was not even one drink spilled, glass broken, mess in a bathroom or anyone that had to be removed for being too intoxicated.

John's hostility and complete lack of care for his patrons was disgraceful. I was embarrassed to have brought my guest to this venue. I can assure them that none of my 60 'local' guests will speak highly of this bar again, let alone be a patron. We ended up leaving the venue at 10:30pm and moved on to another local bar 2230 who were more than happy to accommodate us.

Another important note for anyone considering booking this venue is that the acoustics of the room were terrible. It was so painfully loud that guests with babies, older people and even some of the younger ones were unable to stay for long due to their level of discomfort.

The food was also poor. Sausage rolls were burnt, chicken strips cold and the quantity was low. Dave the other manager at Jd's was a lovely polite man and I know he wanted to help us but unfortunately it didn't change the outcome.

A steak and sauce with mash/chips for $12 is pretty difficult value to beat. Especially since the steak is actually pretty good (unlike the 5 buck chuck you get at pubs). Chef is ex-Catalina's, apparently, which might help explain the food.

Average steak but I guess you get what you pay for. Service is average. I would recommend for a cheap feed with some mates.

There is no service here but the steaks are a nice cheap feed. Not an ideal place if you smoke as the trip downstairs is a real pain. Typical pub food but with a bit more attention. I somehow keep coming back.

The steak is the best steak I have had, the sauces are so tasty and the atmosphere is awesome, always so busy and full of energy! Staff are so nice and helpful, and the service is pretty fast for the amount of people they get in there. One of my favourite restaurants.

You get what you pay for. Its low-budget food for a low-budget price. I don't think I will be back but I can understand why a lot of locals do. When you're hungry and too tired to cook and just want to catch up with a mate in a similar situation, the food might taste better.
