Extremely disappointed. Went there last night after reading the rave reviews. But neither the good nor the service were up to the mark. Ordered chargrilled quail and special Nepalese goat curry with roti for mains and minis for starters. The starters took 25 minutes to arrive (which for a speciality of the house is surprising, considering they'd expect most guests to order them).

When we did get the momos they were measly looking and were mostly pastry with hardly any filling. Certainly not what I'd call value for money. The mains took another 25 minutes, and even then too first the goat curry arrived with the rotis and the quail took another 10 minutes. The curry was watery and did not have much flavour.

The rotis were a total shame, they were the frozen variety that you can buy in any Indian grocery store, and not fresh rotis that you would expect in any good restaurant. The quail was the only reasonable tasting dish but would have liked to have been told when ordering it that it would take almost an hour to cook.

The extremely slow service (the result of having just one waiter on a Saturday evening) and the well below average food ensured that we will not be returning.

Simply Put Awesome! just loved it. The momos are the best in Sydney. Sekuwa, sorry the Sizzling Sekuwa cooked to perfection. Jatra surely knows how to make an evening of your meal. Its special! like a feast everytime I go.

This is one restaurant we keep returning to - the food, the people, the surrounds, it all adds up to an enjoyable night which we strongly recommend to our family & friends. We have tasted most of the menu but have our faourites, & sometimes have the banquet. Whatever we eat is delicious & great value.

I have had meals in almost all Nepali restaurants in Sydney new and old and have found the cuisine at Jatra to be as close to home as possible. The taste is exactly what I had in Kathmandu and food is lot more interesting. Menu is very reasonably priced for the type of food and location of the restaurant. If you do not fill up on entrees and can make your way to the mains they are separated into 2 sections the traditional curries and a few new things Jatra is trying as the salmon, sizzling sekuwa and Newari Pizza.

I had the momos (absolutely loved it) chatamari (Newari Pizza) Bara (Lentil Cake) and then had sekuwa with rice and goat curry and have to say, was mighty impressed with the food there. All that and still did not burn a hole in my pocket (had 2 other friends with me!). Highly recommended.

We had dinner at ‘Jatra’ on Tuesday night with friends and enjoyed a very relaxed meal in an ambient atmosphere. Food is tasty, quite good portions, very reasonably priced and a good selection of Nepali dishes were offered. We ate an assortment of entrees, dumplings, lentil patties, grilled spicy chicken marinated in Nepalese spices, fish, pappadums with a twist of spice and a 9 bean soup.

For the mains we selected individual dishes of grilled quail, goat curry, daal, Nepalese traditional pizza and a chickpea salad, all very good. For dessert, we had an assortment of puddings, including Lalmohan with ice cream, which was very unusual, refreshing and enjoyable.

Unlike Indian food, the Nepalese cuisine appears to be less rich, so while we felt full, there wasn't the sense of having over-eaten. Food was served quickly and waiters and waitresses were really friendly and informative about their cuisine.

‘Jatra’ is a new authentic Nepalese restaurant on the Pacific Highway at Crows Nest, it is BYO and offers soft drinks, tea and coffee. We will return!

First time I had nepalese food ever, and will definitely go back for more. The food was great. Entrees looked good and tasted even better, the curries are nicely spiced but not hot. Generally it was a great treat to try this restaurant.
