Might be different on a busy night but on a quiet Tues night I was most impressed. For a start we were given a big round six seater table for the three of us, even though smaller tables were available, but the ever smiling waiter assured us "much better table". It certainly gave us plenty of room.

We had some great prawn cutlets and average dim sums for entree, then a Lohan Duck Hotpot, Pork Ribs in Peking Sauce, Steamed Chinese Veg and fried rice. All were fine, but was particularly impressed with the service provided. Not too much but always around when needed. Would recommend.

We wanted a simple Chinese fare on a Tuesday night and indeed we got it! Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. Their fried rice and sweet and sour pork was great. Other dishes were okay. Overall great value and we'll be back anytime we crave sweet and sour pork. Our waiter was fantastic and very smooth!

Having lived in Cammeray for many years I was surprised to think I had never been to Jason’s Kitchen. The only thing that triggered it was seeing the restaurant as a recent addition to the Sydney North Entertainment Card. Upon arriving, we were greeted by the friendly male Senior Waiter/Owner and shown to a pleasant table by the window.

The menu is your typical Australian-Chinese restaurant-fare. We could have thrown a dart and being happy I suspect, but in the end we settled for Spring Rolls, Honey Chicken, Pepper Steak and Apple Pie for dessert. Everything was exactly as it should be – really, really nice. I particularly liked the spring rolls.

I have often walked past Jason’s Kitchen and considered going there. I’m pleased I finally did. I think their business is predominantly take-away and delivery, as there are not very often many people in there. But the phone rings off the hook with orders.

The food is good value for money, we only order takeaway/delivery. The lady on the phone appears incredibly efficient at taking orders and payment over the phone, which I guess translates to good service. The menu is huge, often it is hard to decide what to get. It's not the best as far as Chinese food goes, but it should satisfy any cravings.

Update: Full marks to the owners for delivering excellent value for money on the lower north shore. We paid $63 for three people and that included two starters, drinks all round, two mains, rice and a single shared dessert.

Portions were more than adequate and the food was delicious. We started with dim sums and fried vegetable rolls (not to be confused with spring rolls: these ones are bigger and chock full of green vegetables). For mains we had the satay beef and honey chicken. The beef was especially good: lashings of fresh onion and the beef was tender and tasty. The sauce complemented it well and a nice touch with the serving arrangement with a little flame in the middle to keep the whole concoction nice and hot. The honey chicken was also delicious, sweet on the outside, with tender, fresh chicken in the middle.

Parking is easy, at least on a Sunday night, in the little car park behind the Cammeray shops. And you can enter or exit Jason’s via the backdoor which leads directly into the car park.

They still have the same drab décor and quiet ambience that they’ve had for the last couple of years so don’t expect anything flash. And the walk to the toilets past dirty dishes piled up in basins is horrible.

Service was friendly, polite and efficient. My only complaint was the number of kids! Why do people insist on bringing their tots to restaurants? It just spoils the dining experience for everyone and the tot would much rather be home in bed.

Bit overall, I recommend Jason’s as a friendly, unpretentious and inexpensive eatery serving excellent food. No bookings necessary.

Original review 26/10/06 - If you're after a no frills, yet satisfying Chinese meal on the lower north shore, then Jason's Kitchen in Cammeray, should do the trick. But don't expect too much atmosphere. This place has about as much as a doctor's waiting room!

The fair is basic Chinese, nicely served up in ample, fresh portions. Three of us dined on a quiet Sunday night. For starters we had the traditional dim sums and spring rolls, and for mains, we shared the beef with cashews, honey chicken (definitely the winner on the night), vegetable chow mien and of course, steamed rice. Ice cream with strawberry topping comprised the dessert and the big surprise of the evening was the excellent coffee. The bill, with tip came to a very reasonable $65 and that included a beer and two cold drinks.

Our extremely polite, friendly and efficient waiter definitely deserves the service prize for the week! He was even kind enough to lend me a pair of glasses since I'd forgotten mine at home and couldn't read the menu!

Jason's is situated on the small Cammeray shop strip in Miller Street, near the corner of Amherst Street. There is a small car park at the back of the strip, where we had no problem finding a space. Being on the north shore, public transport isn't always the best option, as buses are few and far between on the weekends.

Jason's Kitchen represents good value for money, but after more than a decade at this location, the interior is now in need of a serious refurb!

I was appalled by the service I received from this place when I went there for take away. Not sure if it was the senior staff or one of the waiter, but he was probably one of the rudest I ever encountered. Never again!

Outstanding restaurant! I went there one day with my family. We were passing Cammeray and we saw a restaurant and my two sons wanted to dine there. We took a seat and the waitress immediately came to us with a smile, giving us the menu. I couldn’t believe the food was priced at such a good value. We tried out a variety of dishes and everything turned out so good. Jason's Kitchen provides good service and we felt very comfortable dining in there. My family was extremely satisfied with the food and even though we were very full, we decided to try out some desserts (fried ice-creams) which turned out so good and I recommend this to everyone.

My family were full and the bill came and it was only $73 including two beers and two pink lemonades. I felt so happy and extremely comfortable with this restaurant so I gave them $27 tip. Parking is not a problem because at the back of Jason's Kitchen is a big car park where customers can park for two hours free. Jason's Kitchen is definitely the best Chinese/Malaysian Restaurant in town. I shall return for the great food, service and value.

The food at Jasons kitchen is by far the best Chinese/Malaysian cuisine in the area. The dishes are always fresh and are reasonably priced. Although sometimes the service is a little below par, and home delivery can take a little longer than satisfactory the food is always delicious.

We have usually ordered home delivery and have been extremely happy with what we get. Last night we went for the first time to the actual restaurant and like the other reviews the decor is nothing to write home about. However, we did go with a relatively large group and we were not the only big group either but they didn't service us for at least half an hour, we did have to get our own drinks as they just wouldn't come over to our table.

In their defence there was only two floor staff for a full restaurant, but even at the end when we were the last table, they were still not very gracious and we were made to feel very uncomfortable and it was only 9.30 pm. Food is good but not sure I would dine there again, may just have to stick to the take-away.
