I went last week with my girlfriend. I had a terrible experience. Not only were the waitstaff rude and ignorant, but they acted as if they would rather be some place else. The food took, what seemed forever, to come out and when it did it was very, very average. I will not be going back, ever, and would not recommend it.
Tried this place out on a friday night. Having read the reviews I thought it was safest to stick with the pizza. The pizza was very nice and should be considering the price of around $17 for a pizza. The service is very strange, its like they have never run a cafe or restaurant before. I was there early, 6 pm but made a booking just to be sure because I had tickets to a show at 8 pm. There were only 4 tables with diners eating in and all other tables were empty but they turned around 4 groups of people saying they were booked out.
The pace was more than half empty! They proceeded to survey the restaurant and check their reservation book every few minutes. It was as if they thought they would be swamped at any minute....but it was half empty and they were turning customers away. It created a very anxious environment. The pizza was nice but the atmosphere wasn't great. We had to wait 10 minutes after we ordered to get a pepsi brought to the table. There were only 4 tables of people, the waitresses just stood around chatting. I would recommend take away pizza rather than eating in.
Revisted on a week night last week, food is still very good but service was not great and waited a little too long for our food. This is a great little place, food and service are tops. Best pasta!!!!!!!!! and pizza is also very very good. Food is priced right. I have been there about 4-5 times now and can't fault it. Bookings on weekends are a must!
My husband/friends/family used to go to this place all the time. It has now changed management and gone downhill. The staff now have a horrible attitude towards everything, and when you complain to the owners, they tell you 'well don't bother coming back here again' - just charming!
The last time I went was with a group of 8 people. The food took forever to come, and when one of the meals’ meatballs weren't cooked, the waitress gave us attitude about it, took it away angrily, and then bought out the exact same meal, only it had been microwaved for 5 minutes - meaning the meatballs were still red inside. The lasagne used to be so nice, but now tastes mediocre, and I’m sure it's a packet type.
The food here is quite good. We ordered a gourmet pizza and seafood pasta. Both were very satisfying in flavour not too rich and quite fresh. The portions could be a bit bigger but the price is not too expensive. I came here early on a weeknight, and the service was friendly and prompt.
I ate here with friends a few weeks ago. We were BYO, so didn't have problems getting drinks. Everyone's food, but mine, was fab. My husband had a pizza and has had many more since then. I ordered the lasagne and it was awful, watery, hardly any meat and the pasta was soggy. It was really disappointing as the others in my group had really good food. I will go back again, but I won't be ordering that traditional Italian dish of lasagne, I can make a better one at home!!
The whole experience was horrible. From the time we ordered, to when the mains came out was 100 minutes. Ridiculous. And half the food was cold and tasted like leftovers from last weekend.
The staff also play the game of ignoring you and gossiping amongst themselves. It took much effort just to get our first drinks ordered, and then more pain for a refresh and they treated us like we were not good enough to be in "their" restaurant. Snobs.
The name of the restaurant is perfect for them - the Italian Job - they certainly did a job on us ! We will never go back.
