My husband, daughter and I went to Yum Cha here today for an early lunch. It was our first time at Iron Chef but we are seasoned Yum Cha'ers. We were very impressed with the service and friendliness of the staff. Our daughter needed a highchair, no problem, a little fork and spoon, no problem, a table near the big fish tanks to keep her amused, no problem.
The food came thick and fast, just as we like it. We didn't have to sit and wait for ages until all the yummy things came. Everything looked yummy! and it didn't disappoint. The bill was 2/3 of what we paid for our last Yum Cha experience (at a different restaurant) 2 weeks ago. Very good, especially for families. The free parking around the back is a bonus as well.
Have only ever go here for yum cha. Service was attentive, and not MIA like the city yum cha places, which is great! Food is good quality, and plenty to chose from. Some items are pricey for the portions, but I guess it's the quality.
Dinner last Friday night during the Iron Chef Cantonese/Sichuan festival. Shared the 'Cantonese/Sichuan degustation' menu, of the eight dishes, two were cantonese and the rest were chilli, chilli, chilli! If you like chilli, make your way to Cabramatta while the festival is still on.
The entertainment was a mixed bag, live cooking demonstrations would be better if they were translated into English and Master Mu (who does a 'mask changing' act was fabulous! We ordered one of the Iron Chef dishes, which was made at our table, at nearly $30 for a plate of noodles, it was very expensive.
Restaurant is one of the best furnished restaurants in Cabramatta, on the quieter side of the station and parking was very easy.
I brought may friends and family to the Iron Chef over the weekend after reading all the good reviews. I must say this place stacks up to all the previous comments, service was great and very friendly, the staff where more then helpful in getting dishes that we couldn't see on the trolleys. The selection of dishes during yum char were amazing (much better than most yum char Rest.)
I was told by one of the friendly managers that this place is owned and operated by Italians which was a real suprise to me. I must take my hat of to them as I would say to date this is th best yum char restaurant I have been to. We will be back for sure!!!
I attend this venue for yum cha often. It is a good place and does get very crowded around 12 on weekends. The staff are quite good, the leader appears to be a man with long curly hair. Sometimes the food I wish to order runs out before the cart arrives, but you can easily request it and they will source it from another trolley or make sure to get to you first next time.
TAB is close by so you can pop out for a quick punt between bites.
Yum cha is great here. The food is always fresh and tasty. I find that the place can get quite packed during lunch time and there were times where I had to leave without eating due to long queues. That is quite disappointing given that I had to travel nearly 40 minutes. Service from the waiters is generally good.
One major complain which I find really upsetting and annoying is that the cashier/waitress who handles the bill hid large notes underneath the large piece of receipt, while at the same time, left the coins on top of the receipt when handing back my change (i.e. coins on top of the receipt and large notes underneath the receipt). I believe they had the intention of keeping the large notes left behind by customers who do not take enough care to notice what's underneath the receipt.
This has occurred in my past two visits and I find this to be really dishonest given that most people, including myself may not take the receipt and therefore leave behind large notes unintentionally as tip. This is my reason for my low rating on the service. I will definitely visit again for the food but will keep an eye out on the tricks that they play.
One of the best yum cha places I have been to. I come from a Chinese background and have a high standard when it comes to Chinese cuisine. The food was fantastic and the staff were attentive but without over doing it. I would definitely be back there.
Great Yum Cha with an impressive range of dishes. Loved the Peking duck available by the serve via one of the trolleys. Needed to wait a while outside but was definitely worth it.
