The place is okay for yum cha.

Though their rice noodles (vermicelli) may need some improving as it does not have much elasticity as what my parents told me.

Their pork buns may be store bought because my parents are a bit sceptical of the taste. I like their custard bun but I'm not sure if it's freshly made. Their wasabi beef is not bad it has improved since I used to order it in the past.

I don't think I will go back in a hurry. The food is ok, but not worth the overpriced menu, especially with the slow service. The place is buzzing with diners and I kind of wondered what we were missing out on as I would describe our food at best average. This was the second time we went there and both times we have had to flag down wait staff to get any service at all.

Regret not reading the reviews before i went, but rest assure I will never go back again.

The food was quite average, but the service! it was as if smiling was a luxury. We couldn't get the attention of any waiter until we finally demanded to leave the place, even then it took them 2 hours to get our food to us.

This used to be the place to go for Yum Cha but the last time that I went there for lunch, I wasn't blown away like I used to.

I've never had dinner here so I gave it on chance two nights ago and hoping for the best. Was I wrong. Let's start with the service. They brought out the live lobster promptly to show us what it looks like. Fifteen minutes later, our first main came out (which was peking duck). Then we waited 55 minutes without any food coming out.

After complaining to a waiter, 3-4 other people came over to our table one at a time within the space of 15 minutes taking a look at what we've ordered. Another 10 minutes went by with no food. We threatened to walk out by this point and only then that the lobster dish came out (nearly one and a half hour after the first main).

From this point on, it got worse and worse. Everything was waaaayy too salty. Lobster with xo sauce wasn't edible. I don't know whether the kitchen staff had spilled the salt into the wok or what. Not only that, the sauce didn't look like xo sauce at all. Then Peking duck. We were served only 6 small portions of San Choy Bow from 1 whole duck. I'm pretty sure there's more meat to a whole duck than that. When asked, the waiter just shrugged. The rest of the food that came out had just one taste.....salt.

King Prawn in duck egg yolk, Chow mein, Pork flambe, Hot and sour soup. They were all too salty. The only edible food of the night was roast duck with taro in batter. Finally, the complimentary sweet. My fiance found a hair in her bowl of red bean dessert. That was enough to made everyone put down their spoon. Sorry, Iron Chef. I won't be visiting you for dinner again.

Julles: Went here on a double date and had snow crab with XO sauce, pure bliss. Yum, beats most of the chinese restaurants I've been to and I've been to Alot. Their battered salt and pepper king prawn was very tasty, very good for the kids.

Atmosphere is pretty classy, could come for casual with family or friends or could even come with a date in heels, warm lighting and chandeliers make the atmosphere very pleasurable. Overall Thumbs up go! (We rate it down only due to the value... it ain't cheap.).

Aimz: Other dishes we had were the crispy quail and salty fish fried rice. Beautiful authentic flavours and fresh crab right from the tank (our pick =])
easy and plentiful parking, and even a TAB and poker machines in the next room, just like in China. Quite pricey but if you're into good chinese you won't be disappointed.

I love peking duck and is my favourite food. I will go out of my way to have it and personally, the only place that has the best peking duck in Sydney is Iron Chef, sadly. Their peking duck always tastes so good and fresh. Iron Chef always had special half price peking duck on a certain day of the week, every week also half price crab and lobster.

However, they always have condition such as you can only have one half price peking duck per table and the second course is not San Choy Bao but the leftover of the duck, chopped and you’re not allow to takeaway home. On top of that, you have to order another dish, you can’t have peking duck by itself. WTH!!

The food at Iron Chef is good, we like most of the dishes there and they are well presented. However, the things that stop us from going there is their bad service. Their customer service is very bad, seriously. Their price is quite expensive. They overcharge you, so if you don’t look at the bill carefully, then its your lost.

Sometimes they used old food and you knew it too but can't really say it. On a busy night, it takes forever for the food to come out and you have to remind them a few times and they not even apologize, so rude. They have never once provide us good service.

Despite all the issues we have with Iron Chef n yet we still come back, we never learn our lesson do we, how sad. It just, unfortunately, we have tried from other places but Iron Chef have the best peking duck, well that is what we think anyway. Not to mention its local so you don’t have to drive all the way to city.

We understand why people coming back, they came back for the food and ignored the bad services as they know Iron Chef would never improve and I bet Iron Chef doesn’t care either. Sigh, whenever we wanna go Iron Chef again, we have to think twice!

P.S from my personal experience of all these years eating peking duck. I will say Iron Chef has best peking duck in Sydney.

Booked a table ahead of time so didn't have to wait when we arrived. The food was excellent and came out quite quickly, I was honestly surprised! it was our first time there and the place looks quite nice. The final bill wasn't bad either. We've been to a number of Chinese restaurants and this one was reasonably priced.

I ordered the salt and pepper squid and its usually what a lot will judge a good asian restaurant by and here it was very disappointing. Way over salted and not even crispy. Everything else we ordered was below average. As an Iron Chef fan they have ripped on the brand.

We always eat here when we head out this way. Its always on our must eat list. The best yum cha we believe in Sydney. Value for money, great tasting food, not too salty, which you can get with some yum cha places. The place is huge plenty of tables. Only down side you could be waiting for a while to get a table, since Everyone else is trying to eat there as well!

Went here last night for dinner. Ordered Peking duck, Beijing pork ribs, Shangdong chicken, French king prawns, Iron Chef special fried rice and the crab with glass noodle. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience. The Peking duck, Beijing pork ribs and French king prawns were my favourites, absolutely delicious. The special fried rice was slightly disappointing because it was slightly tasteless compared to the last time I had it. But it was still pretty good. The Shangdong chicken and crab with glass noodle were also decent.
