I cannot concur with the 7.6 overall rating for this place. The empty tables are a good indicator of this restaurant. The service was attentive enough but it wasn't enough to make up for the below average Thai food. Our octopus salad was too spicy and too sweet, while the duck curry was less than impressive. The mixed entree was also nothing to write home about. Our sole presence brought two other tables in but definitely not the food. Come here if you want uninspiring Thai food.

Sad to see this place so empty on a chilly Tuesday night in May. There were exactly two other tables occupied when we arrived at 6.45 pm. They both soon left and were replaced with two other couples, so apart from our table of three, that seemed like the total complement for the night. Perhaps, it gets busier on a weekend, but for us, unfortunately, it lacked atmosphere.

It was nicely warmed up though with an effective heating system. So that’s a plus, as most Syd restaurant seem to overlook this little comfort factor and forget that we freeze in winter.

Intra Thai’s biz card claims that it’s been here since 1989 and it shows. It’s comfortable enough but the furnishings and overall look and feel are of a place that’s a bit tired and stale, having been at one spot for a long time but never bothering to freshen up its image.

There’s also a large upstairs dining area which you will notice when you ascend the steps to the toilets. Unfortunately, this part seems to have been abandoned, perhaps, a sign that Intra Thai has seen better days.

But despite all this we had a pleasant evening. The food was fresh and tasty and the service from our sole waitress can only be described as flawless. She was efficient and polite and dishes came out at lightning speed.

We started with two entrees: money bags and curry puffs. Both went down a treat. The money bags had that crunchy exterior which contrasted nicely with the soft, smooth filling of chick, veg and peanut sauce. For mains we shared a yellow beef curry, a chick noodle dish, a serving of steamed jasmine rice and a serving of coconut rice (although I could hardly tell the difference between the two).

Portions were just right and everything was brought to the table piping hot. The yellow curry had an equal mixture of tender beef and potatoes in a creamy sauce. We rounded it off with our fav sticky rice and ice cream dessert and a coffee. All that cost us a reasonable $72 and that included three drinks.
Toilets are spotlessly clean and easy to find up the flight of stairs but lacked hand towels.

Even tho it was a weeknight we still struggled to find a parking eventually settling for something in nearby Grosvenor Street opposite Woolies. Just looking at the list of honours that this place has been awarded and which are all proudly listed on the menu (“Pride of Thailand”, 2009, “Thai Select”, 2006, “Thailand Brand” 2005, “Thailand Diversity & Refinement”, 2000 etc), you’d think you’d just walked into the best Thai in town but not really!

The food is good, the service is first class but it lacks atmosphere and is in serious need of a makeover.

Out of the endless numbers of Thai restaurants on the North shore, this place is head and shoulders above anywhere else. Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere. In turn priced better than many of the Thai restaurants in the NB/Cremorne/Mosman area. A top notch dining experience all round.

We are regulars at this Thai place. You can always get a seat without booking. The food is always of a high standard. The staff are friendly too. It is quiet so you can hear each other speak and you are not rushed through which is common in other Thai restaurants which allows you to have a relaxing dinner.

The food are great. Highly recommend the beef massaman. Service is friendly. Would definitely visit again.

I really love this thai. I had it once via take away and despite being take away the pad thai was fresh and tasted amazing. I tried a few dishes eating in the restaurant and they were all fabulous.

Not bad, not good. Food was a bit bland. Small servings. Nice decor, traditional, not noisy. Good for couples. Very polite and fast service. Just a little expensive for the food.
