Two of us enjoyed a weeknight meal recently, the service was friendly and helpful making up for the busy main road location. The entree of potato and leek soup was excellent and satisfying. Rack of lamb was very tender and Pannacotta dessert made with a light touch.

Amazing food and great value! We were recommended this restaurant by a few friends who have been there before and we were extremely pleased with our experience. I started off with a dozen of the Sydney Rock oysters which were very big and so amazingly fresh! I then had the Eye Fillet of Beef with grilled Scampi, and was again blown away! The Scampi was sweet and tasted great, and the beef was grilled to perfection and just melted in my mouth. On top of all this, the staff was very friendly and provided great service. I will definitely dine at In again, and will recommend all my friends to do so as well.

What started so well ended with disappointment! Gorgeous garlic bread and the raved about duck rice paper rolls were lovely as a shared starter. My partner and I both had the eye fillet, mine was sent back as a medium to well does not have blood on the plate, it was quickly cooked further. I don't have an issue with that, however, the meat looked like it had been boiled or something there was hardly any 'grilling' and it lacked flavor.
I thought I'd give the dessert a go but was equally disappointed as a walnut date pudding was more like a muffin, the butterscotch sauce was lovely though.
Meal for two with a few drinks (and the Entertainment card) was just over $80.
Agree with the comments below, they need to revamp the menu, it's out of date.
Won't be rushing back.

I am going to give this place an overall good review, But.. The Buts are, we 6 were in our 50s and when we walked in one said "This place is full of geriatrics." and it was. They were all 60s 70s and 80s. And I think I know why because the food was like something out of the 1970s.
The other But is that, because we were the last table to arrive (the other folks had to be in bed by 9:30), we waited 50 minutes for our entree from the time we arrived and probably 35 from when we ordered. Main arrived promptly.
And the design with the square room, flat ceiling and wooden floor, combined with too many hearing aids in the room, meant it was very noisy. The lovely young women serving were all nice and did their jobs professionally. It was BYO and corkage is cheap like $2.50 a head from memory and not per bottle.
Had the duck pancakes for entree and it was good. Others said their entrees were good too. Chose veal and prawns for main and it was also good hearty meal with lovely potato puree and jus, wait, let's say gravy as its more in line with the 70s theme. The seafood looked good and others had lamb which they also liked.
Very good value prices at about $15 an entree and $25 a main And it is BYO as well. Overall a good dining experience. If you are young and trendy I think you would need to book the place out or stick to taking your parents there.

Wouldn't call it Mod Oz or Seafood. Its basically european with steaks, racks of lamb, roast duck, garlic prawns and so on. I started with Prawns in Sizzling Tomato Sauce. The sizzle had departed but ws tasty. The others had the duck pancakes which they said were excellent. There was steaks and grilled snapper. Nothing fancy, served with mash and a few steamed vegs. Banana crepe and lemon tart for dessert. Its all just good comfort food with few frills and a fair price.

We had a lovely time here and I chose rice paper rolls with duck, followed by veal with king prawns, potato mash and bok choy in a lovely sauce and then a macadamia pudding off the specials board. The service was friendly and none of the main courses, including a barbecued seafood plate, were over $30.00. Licenced and BYO.

A pleasant enough experience. Food was nice, but certainly not memorable or mouthwatering or enticing enough to come rushing back. English tourist waitress was enthusiastic and friendly.
Entrees of seafood chowder (plenty of fresh seafood, just not thick enough for my taste, and a little bland) and the duck rice paper rolls (filling and a big hit with the Mrs) were well received, while the mains chicken and mushroom risotto (not too bad, but hardly a risotto, more long grain rice, gravy, chicken and mushrooms) and salmon fillet on a bed of mash with veges were ok.
Desserts were a letdown, lemon tart was soggy and clearly not fresh, while the banana crepe was a rather large portion. All in all it was a nice place to visit with respectable food, but there are just too many other places putting in that little bit extra at a better price.

I really like the restaurant owner. He is a genuinely nice man. The food is reasonably good, particularly the lamb. My only criticism about the food is that we have been here a few times and the specials are the same. The menu hasn't been changed for years. I don't like the location. It is sort of out of the way, not where the restaurants in upper Neutral Bay are nor, lower Neutral Bay/Cremorne. Accordingly, ambience suffers in my opinion. It is reasonable value, not great value compared to others. But it is reliable and friendly and I hope it continues to be that way.

We had such a lovely dinner at In Restaurant I don't know why it hasn't been reviewed more, as it was definitely full when we were there!
My partner and I started with 1/2 dozen oysters and bruschetta and should have had the whole dozen, as they were delicious. We then followed with mains of veal with bok choy, prawns and mash with veal sauce (superb and very tender with delicious large fresh prawns) and ricotta and spinach agnolotti with sautéed mushrooms and snow peas for my partner. The pasta was nice but not as standout as the meat dishes, so I'd definitely go for a 'proper' main at this restaurant, as they had some great specials as well.
We managed to fit all this in and top it off with dessert, the warm almond and date pudding with butterscotch sauce and ice cream was absolutely divine. I couldn''t even finish it, though I tried valiantly, while my partner had banana crepes (good but not as amazing as mine).
I should also say the decor and ambience was really nice, warm and inviting with nice lighting and the waitresses were lovely-attentive without being overpowering and with a sense of humour and personality too-definitely not stand-off-ish. This is the nicest dinner I've had in a long time and very well priced too.
The manager gave me a card with their website details and I was pleased to discover they have specials on there so I can go again. It's http://www.inrestaurant.com.au/

Partner and I used the Entertainment Book discount on this meal, and am sorry to say, I'm glad we did. The starters are all around $13 and the mains are about $27.
The first thing that struck me was that for an establishment charging reasonably high prices they seem to allow chips to be a part of a number of the dishes, especially the specials. I'm not sure about anyone else but a place charging $27 shouldn't include chips...
My starter from the specials was a spinach and cottage cheese tart, microwaved and rather bland. The balsamic dressing on the salad wasn't too bad though. For a starter however, there was a lot of salad.
For mains, my partner had the BBQ seafood consisting of prawns, mussels, calamari, scallops and fish. For a 'BBQ" dish, it didn't seem that it had been introduced to one. We expect BBQ to provide the seafood with some BBQ flavours, but it was all pretty average. The best part being the calamari. Scallops and the prawns were overcooked. The mussels apparently just didn't taste very nice.
I had the baby lamb (med-rare) which was nicely cooked, but really nothing special at all. I've definitely had better at places that charge the same or less.
The food presentation was rather messy. The 'BBQ' seafood should not be on a 'bowl' plate as it currently is. Everything just got bunched together, and again, too much salad (lettuce, tomato and cucumber only - not particularly inventive).
The service was attentive, staff were friendly. Overall, it's overpriced for what it is. We'll probably (almost certainly) not be back, which is unfortunate. Probably the highlight of the night was the wine, but then we brought that ourselves.
