Save your money, give it a miss.

Unfortunately, we went there for dinner last night.

We should have gone with the feeling of trepidation all three of us felt when we pulled up to this establishment. It looks like a converted roadhouse, this feeling was not removed upon entering the establishment. A very strong fishy/oil smell was the first thing we noted upon entry, the second was the unfinished state of the place, with holes in the walls and ceiling evident.

We were seated on tired looking chairs and given menus which looked like they had seen better days (very tatty) and only given two for a party of three also the specials were not explained. We asked if we wanted a drink only once all evening.

That oil smell did not go away and if anything got worse, I was beginning to doubt if this kitchen had exhaust fans. If yes someone needs to tell the kitchen staff where the switch is.

The food is way overpriced, (Olives $1.50 each) and the quality just is not there and everything and I mean everything had this awful oil taste. The "sausage" hot pot, lumps of pork mince with zero flavour swimming in oil actually tasted off, until we had the mains and realized it was the oil.

The gnocchi were nothing but water logged lumps of stodge in a yellowish (supposedly 4 cheeses sauce) again tasting of rank oil. The veal was terribly bland in a sauce which had no taste other than rank oil.

We left disappointed that a dinner and money was wasted but glad to be gone from that oily odor. Two of the party felt ill afterwards and our clothes stank of the oil. If they make good pizza, they should stick to that. The management should invest in an exhaust fan and change the oil used far more regularly.

Dinner on Saturday night. Probably the noisiest restaurant I have ever been to. Service excellent though. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We knew we were in trouble when garlic bread was served hard as a rock. We crunched our way through it. Entree = Garlic Prawn Hotpot: napolitana sauce was watery, couldn't taste any chilli. Quite a few prawns so if you're after quantity and not taste it's definitely your dish. Main = Chicken Farcito. A big lump of crumbed chicken thrown into a bed of runny mashed potato. Hardly any peppercorns in the sauce. Vegetables hard. Again, a very large portion, but totally unappetising and definitely bland. Husband had the duck special. It was greasy, oily and parts of the backbone and innards were served along with the meat. He felt a little nauseous after eating, and then was up at 4 am feeling moreso. Wouldn't recommend unless you perhaps just eat the pizza and salad - surely they couldn't go wrong there. PS: Wine overpriced.

Dinner on a Saturday night. Very noisy place, so if you're looking for a quiet place to eat this is not where to go. Good for the family experience.

Service was good and food comes relatively quick. Food was nothing to write home about. Very bland spaghetti with 5 prawns in there, can't say it was good value at $25.

My #1 son had the T-bone steak of which he only at half. Not sure how it was cooked, along with some scorch marks, I was sure it was steamed due to the soggy appearance. I would be lying if I thought the steak was good value at $35 which was accompanied by a spoon of mashed potato and some pepper sauce.
The place could do with a lick of paint, and the paper table cloths give it the McDonalds touch. I would also be lying if I said I would be back.

A wood fire experience... Another fine restaurant in western Sydney, excellent service, superb food, great value considering the great experience... we will be back.

We went back after being away for 9 months Il Piatto is getting better, the food is better than ever and the service is second to none. Love this place we will be back. Highly recommended.

Went for lunch Sunday October 9 2011 at 1pm. Food was great. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was relaxed and casual. Great time had by all. Definitely recommend them.

We have been going to Il Piato for 1 year and the food is something else, very authentic Italian and always fresh. The service is number one, I have never had any complaints from my guest.
We have all our functions and dinner, luncheons here. Great food, fantastic service and great value for money. Highly recommended.

I went here recently with a friend to catch up, the waitress that served us was more than helpful. The dishes that we had ordered was delicious I recommend the veal marie. Overall, yes it is higher in price than what I usually pay but I will certainly be going back. Cause it's Yummy.
